[Tentatively, Dimitri tries to be subtle as he glances back at Felix... which doesn't really work, considering how he has to turn his head.]

...May I try again after we finish bathing?

[Felix glances over too, only a little more subtly, but doesn't meet Dimitri's gaze long.]

[A small, almost bashful smile appears on Dimitri's face - the kind of thing that really would have been seen more when he was a child than the young adult he was as he attended the officer's academy.]

I promise to be careful.

[But for now... he sinks into the water a little more. Allows himself that.]

[It's soft, though, and Felix trusts that he will. Whether or not he's any good at braiding remains to be seen, but one thing at a time. Besides, that smile is enough to make Felix want to say yes to literally anything Dimitri might ask of him right now, which he sort of hates but can't deny to himself.]
