text! And action for New Bark
[Appearing over everyone's 'gears is a text message. There are signs that the person isn't overly familiar with either texting, technology, or both.]
i'm lost. i'm hungry i'm cold. the liar woman is a bad person and needs to be stabbed. i miss my family i miss gilda and wallace.
i like chatot is this joto? thorn? sidekicks! hey let's go hey let's go
big brother goldenrod
[That is where the text ends. Probably an accidental send? Maybe?]
Who: Kiri and anybody who happens to come across her in New Bark, or the edges of Rt 29
Where: New Bark
When: new arrivals day
Summary: bird-child does not take arriving in Johto very well
Rating: PG-13 for Kiri's swearing
Log:
Kiri remembers her pretty bird friend Chatot when she wakes up, even if it seems kind of like a weird dream. She also remembers being very lost and a lot of people trying to help but not being very good at it. Chatot is back though, so it wasn't a dream! She's warm and in a bed too, this time. That's nice. Kiri starts sitting up and then spots her hands.
Outside of "Mom"'s house, any locals, visitors or recent new arrivals can probably hear the almost hoarse-sounding screaming. Not long after, it stops, and not long after that a clearly upset little girl, no older than ten, is pushed out of the door which closes tightly behind her. That's when the screams start again, more coherent and angry this time, and the girl starts pounding on the door. "Go fuck yourself! Go fuck yourself! Go fuck yourself!"
There's a Chatot awkwardly trying to give comfort and not succeeding very well.
Once Kiri has released her frustration and fear out onto the door, she dries her tears, picks up the pack, and after accepting a hug from Chatot, starts looking for someone who will listen. It's obvious that she's trying to imitate a man's voice, and pretty well too, when she asks the question. "Where are we, exactly?"

[His Cinderace is jostling around next to him, trying to get a look.]
If you turn on the video feature, someone may be able to help guide you.
Also the words she says aren't in a little girl's voice, but a man's. In fact... she kind of sounds like Shiro? Or at least a very good imitation of him.]
Is this okay?
[Well. That's unexpected. Sento's just going to roll with it.]
Ah...you've just arrived, of course, of course...I can come meet you if you need someone to help you out, but it will take me a bit of time to get to your location.
[It looks like he's moving anyway.]
I don't know if it's smart. Be careful.
I'm a genius physicist; everything I do is smart by definition.
[There is absolutely some false bravado there; he's dealing with a scared child so of course he isn't going to show any doubts or anything. His Cinderace seems less than impressed by his response and runs a paw down its face.]
Everything I do is smart by definition!
[After that Kiri turns to her Chatot and apparently has a conversation in... Chatot-ese? At the very least, they both just say Chatot back and forth at each other. Finally, she nods, and in yet another, different voice (also a woman's this time, lightly accented.)]
Okay, okay, okay.

I've never done this before.
[That's in a voice different in intonation and everything from the fuck before. The only point in common is that they're both female sounding voices. Kiri does remember to nod at the question though.]
Re: video
This place and how it works are a lot to take in, especially at first. You're still in the village with the fake mother, right?
video
[That liar woman was bad and needs to be stabbed. Kiri realizes a second later that there wasn't the usual guesswork involved in figuring out what she meant. Even Jester guessed a bit. In a man's voice with a faint accent, she says:]
You know. Ja?
[You understand me. How?]
Text
*he doesn't want to make assumptions and jump straight to video, he's aware some people have their reasons, after all!*
Text
[It takes some time for the return text, several minutes of it spent frustrated. Kiri isn't quite sure how it all works, but Chatot does show her the button that sends it kind of like one of Jester's messages? Except words and not sounds.]
Text
*except for certain brief times of year, but he can get to that later*
But if writing is easier, we can use that. Do you need any help? Or just answers to questions?
Text
or thorn's big brother in goldenrod? thorn said i could be sidekick.
[Unfortunately, her spelling isn't all that great, so many of those names are misspelled but she's trying!]
Text
*the lack of such a response suggesting they likely aren't here after all*
If you wane warmer clothes, though, I could probably arrange something, if you like.

My little sister calls herself that sometimes. I think maybe *I'm* the brother in Goldenrod?

Go fuck yourself.
[She's not even looking at the screen when she mumbles it, sniffling and rubbing at her eyes again. When she talks again, it's a man's voice. Specifically, Shiro's.]
Where are we, exactly?
Re: video
[This is a little kid. Why did someone teach her how to say words that Claudia doesn't even use?]
Re: video
Who taught you how to say that?
[Then she heaves a sigh, just a little frustrated and points to herself, using that woman's voice again.]
Mimicking things!
Re: video
You copy what other people say to you?
[That still doesn't explain who thought 'go fuck yourself' was something to say in front of a little kid.]
