Yo! So I've been thinking a little bit about the different worlds and stuff and I was kinda wondering.

Do you guys have any particular meanings behind your names?

[ Kirishima holds up what looks to be like a notepad that would be used normally for restaurant order tickets. ]

For example, my name's Kirishima, right? But in my language that can be broken up into kanji - um, symbols?

So this symbol means 'to cut'.

But you pronounce it 'kiri'. Then this symbol means "island".

But it's pronounced 'shima'. You put them together and it can be 'Kirishima' but they also have that extra meaning? Because there are other symbols that can make those same sounds but they don't have the same meaning.

Well it sounds like you don't speak it that much because that's not what you really grew up with!

[ He peers at the English spelling she puts up for him because of course. Honestly, it's one of the times he has to actively think about the writing rather than have it immediately translated for him. Kinda weird. Because concentrating on it for more than a moment makes it somehow understandable. Kind of like how you can't keep yourself from reading a language you understand on a sign or a page, in snippets or entirety. Kirishima's not sure if that's pure him ( because he has been taking English classes prior to arriving here ) or whatever's happening between all of them. He's a fool and even he's noticed lip flaps don't add up to what he's hearing!

The big take-away here is Kirishima's only curious and supportive about Jolyne offers. He's definitely not the sort of guy to say who can or can't be Japanese. In fact, he does try to sketch on his notepad what Jolyne draws with her finger in the air. Between that and the sound of it, he actually does make the correct kanji. He leaves it laying there, however, indicating he was making a note for himself rather than trying to correct her or show off. ]
