Quick question. How do you like dealing with escape artists?
[Is this related to the incredibly smug-looking Dartrix visible over Beau's shoulder, busy turning the bed into a blanket nest?
Signs point to yes.]

[The charming grin beneath the ink-blue handlebar mustache does nothing to betray whether he's joking or not.]

Aren't you the guy who tried to eat the magic fish, like, a week ago? Sorry man, I'm looking for someone with a little more experience.

[and also a student, but let's just ignore that part]
Just because I didn't know the local monsters aren't edible when I grew up on a goddamn privateer vessel and fished for most of my food doesn't disqualify me from everything!

What kind of escape are you talkin', here? On the level a' popping out of a ball or is this the owl Harree Houdin, haha!

He doesn't like to stay where he's put, for any given definition of "where he's put".
[She glares at the owl, who just preens. Smugly.]

[Heh. That Pokemon looks like it's having a good time...]
We talking Pokeball escape? House escape? I've kinda dealt with both. Doesn't help when the escape artist's a Haunter with a track record for pranks and vandalism.

[Hmm... but what would that mean for a bird? He brings a hand to his chin, hmm-ing in thought.]
Could always see about building some perches. Maybe going out on walks to let him stretch his wings?

Which she's smart enough not to say out loud even without a rulebook, thanks.]
Not sure. Do magic owls go through puberty? Because the whole causing trouble and wanting to pick fights all the time thing seems a hell of a lot like puberty.

[Riku offers a small, sympathetic smile at that.]
There are a few ways you can handle it. Let 'em blow off steam on wild Pokemon, pop them in the PC if they're getting outta hand... find some other Pokemon to curb the aggression a bit. Team mates who can... balance things out, I guess.
Or work through a rigorous obedience program. I'm sure they've got those somewhere.
