Why are you doing all of this?

Oh dear, when was your birthday? I'm sorry I missed it. [As for his question,] Well, I felt like coming along and helping. You all helped me when I was...not okay. It's only fair I return the favor. And besides, I don't know if Grant could've done it all himself.
[Especially since your group is constantly, like, adding new people to it.]

[He's not sure how much help they really were to Jane, crowding her and taking up her space while she was...recovering, and besides that she was already letting them stay in her home without doing much to earn their keep, but contradicting her seems counterproductive when she's by far the most competent caretaker among them other than Grant. Besides...]
Hm. You remind me of someone. A friend of ours from back home. Her name is Mercedes. She's a healer and she's always fussing over everyone the same way. And she bakes all the time, too.

[Jane Logic (tm) dictates that birthdays be celebrated.]
Ah, really? Goodness, I never would have thought I'd have a kindred spirit somewhere.
no subject
[Then he gives her a small smile.]
Heh. You even talk like her. [A pause.] You're not her. Obviously. You're yourself and no one else. You just...remind me of her, that's all.
[He goes about filling the kettle and rinsing out a few teacups in silence for a few minutes, but then he lingers by the sink, his back turned to Jane.]
Are you...you seem...better. Now.
no subject
Ah, do I? Maybe I am. I think...coming over to help you guys is kind of part of that. It gives my brain something else to focus on, and that's honestly better for, uh...the time I do have, for thinking about all the other things. It means I don't linger for too long on the bad stuff.
no subject
That's...it's better for Sylvain, too. Not to be alone. It always has been. He...falls back on bad habits when he's left to his own devices for too long.
[Not much of what Jane was saying to Dirk when she woke up stuck in Felix's mind, partially because it sounded largely like nonsense and partially because he wasn't at his most alert. But he remembers the thread of feeling like she'd done horrible things, although he can't imagine it.]
Do you think it's true of everyone who comes here? That their lives back home were worse than they are here?
no subject
...I don't know about that one. It definitely sounds like a common occurance, whether someone actually explains all they've been through or implies how rough things had been. But I do have to think it is possible some folks can go home to perfectly peaceful, satisfying lives.
no subject
[He turns to look...not quite at her, but in her general direction.]
Sylvain said he spoke to you about it, and you helped him. So...thank you.
no subject
[Considering she just went through it.]
Honestly, for all the talk about the god of this world looking like a llama, I have never actually gotten to see them for myself.
no subject
[Felix shakes his head.]
Hmph. Were I to meet this so-called god, I would have a bone or two to pick with them.
[He's glad Claude talked him out of trying to actually find Arceus, though. It really was a ridiculous plan.]
Oh. Sylvain also told me you're helping him make the wedding cake. It doesn't matter to me, I don't like cake, but...everyone else will appreciate it. Your baking skills are impressive.

[Oh, he didn't catch that it was a joke. Whoops.
Then he makes a half-exasperated, half-self-conscious face.]
Sylvain said the same thing. I don't...need special treatment. I'll live without cake.
[Felix, your own wedding is exactly the time when you should be getting special treatment...]
no subject
Hm, well, I can respect that, but...I definitely want to make sure it's something you're both at least in agreement upon.

[aaaaaaaaaa gonna learn a new thing!!!]
Thank you for the tip, I appreciate it.
no subject
[Sure, Felix. Whatever you say.]
So you'll be there, I suppose.
[He doesn't seem annoyed about that, just making a statement.]
no subject
[Does making the cake mean she's invited?]
no subject
Are you asking me or telling me? We're hardly going to ask you to make a cake and then fail to invite you.
