"It's certainly not something Fodlan has developed yet," Dimitri agrees, smiling as he sees Dean toddle past with some snacks to give to Lysithea so that she isn't suffering as much.

"Although I wonder if our bodies are different as well... Faerghus actually had a plague in not too recent history. Does that change a human body much, do you think? Experiencing something like that?"

"Huh... maybe so. I'm no epidemiologist, but I could see where it would make sense that a recent plague would kind of... prime your immune systems to react strongly to potential pathogens, especially if it was within your lifetime recent."

Well, now he's gonna have to research the effects of surviving a plague on the immune system. It'll just have to go on the list.

So it sounds as though this would require more knowledge from a doctor... Dimitri will simply have to trust that Grant knows what he's talking about when it comes to this sort of thing. For now, he carefully starts to pour the hot water into their cups.

"Yes... It was long before most of us could remember, but when we were but babies, a plague rocked Faerghus. It took a great many people, my mother included." Dimitri says that last part matter of factly. As he said - he was young when it happened. There's of course the ache of having lost someone... But he only knows his mother's face from paintings, not from her as a real person to him.

Grant's brow creases for a moment, sympathy crossing his face. It's a relief, at least, to hear that Dimitri doesn't sound too upset about it. Makes sense, given he said this happened when he was just a baby... maybe it just didn't hit so hard that way.

"...I see. 'Within your lifetime' it is, then. ...I know you said you don't remember, but I'm sorry to hear that."

Dimitri looks up, blinking for a moment, before he gives a small and awkward smile. "Ah... Thank you." He shakes his head, going to find a tray for cups.

"Many of my friends were only babes when it happened... No one knew what to do for a while. Even now, I still don't understand the trick behind what helped us stop it..." He lets out a slow breath. "I suppose it is just one more reason why I am so glad for this place. We will never have to worry about that sort of thing again."

"Mm... we still always need to be ready for new illnesses, when they crop up. But, yeah - this place's medicine seems to be pretty good. Maybe better than my world's, for all I know."

And the free healthcare is still a huge plus.

Grant, if he hears about the USA healthcare system, Dimitri might just riot. As it is, he nods, and chuckles. "They can put living creatures into tiny spheres with no ill effect. Their knowledge is really impressive."

But that's for another time, and he nods his head towards Grant's hands. "Do you need any assistance? I could spare some effort."

Momentarily distracted by the topic of this place's medicine, Grant blinks before looking down at his hands, as well, and the glasses in front of him. "--Oh! No, I'm alright - thank you, though, I just gotta get these poured and handed off."

Speaking of which, he'd better fill up that second glass.

"Of course." Grant is a capable man; Dimitri doesn't doubt he'll be just Fine. Still... "After we're both done, perhaps we can take a moment to spend with just one another..."

A pause as Dimitri considers their situation.

"...So long as Felix does not try to get up to anything else, at least." Really, it's just Felix they have to worry about.

Grant snorts quietly, but the growing smile on his face is entirely genuine.

"We can certainly hope, right? But-- yeah. I'd like that, if nobody needs anything for a bit."

"If no one needs anything for a bit," Dimitri agrees, and hopes that may turn out to be true. He cares for all of them, of course, and wants them to be happy, but...

Well, he'd be lying if he said that the idea of stealing away some time wasn't at least a little appealing.

Adjusting the tray in his hands, he beams at Grant. "I will check in on some of the others, and then reconvene with you, Grant. Do let me know if you need any help." And then there's just a moment of hesitation, of uncertainty of where the boundaries may lie, before Dimitri quickly leans in to press a kiss to Grant's jaw before hurrying away, red-cheeked.
