First Video

[ Yuzu was no stranger to exercise. She poured so much of her efforts into becoming a Pro Action Duelist back home, and exercise is right alongside that. She could confidently say that she was more active than the average person, and she'd been practicing acrobatics since she was old enough to do so.

But this? This was something else. This was fending mostly for herself, in the wild, with nothing but what "Mom" put in her backpack.

To be honest? She's not sure how to feel about "Mom" anyway. Well, it's not like she has a mother of her own to compare her to, but she's pretty sure a mother wouldn't shove their child out the door like that... and tell them to do this.

At the very least, she's not dead, the trip to Cherrygrove ended before she could actually collapse... and the spa she found next to the Inn was heavenly after her first case of traveling through the wilderness for three days. Well, she's at least learned a bit through experience, so once she sets off again... it'll hopefully be less rough on the poor girl. It shouldn't take long until she gets used to traveling, at least.

Still, while she's sitting outside while her Eevee (affectionately named Aria) plays with the Bounsweet (affectionately named Diva) she caught on her way here... which was of course followed with a brief period of panic at seeing the small fruit(?) get sucked into the ball, but she's at least figured the pokeballs out now. Anyways, back on topic, now that she's at Cherrygrove... she should probably try and use her Poke-Gear now. It has some kind of public network, right?

The camera comes on from the wrong side, showing the area in front of Yuzu rather than facing Yuzu herself. At the very least, the first thing seen in the video is the very cute sight of an Eevee rolling around in the sand with a Bounsweet. ]

Is this... oh—oops...!

[ The camera promptly switches to the one facing Yuzu, showing the image of the young, pink-haired, and honestly still confused girl. ]

Hello! Um... I'll assume this is working... uh, hi! I'm Yuzu, and... I sort of woke up here? I mean, waking up in a different world is nothing new to me, but this place is so... different, even by my standards...

[ Crap, she's rambling. Normally she's more put-together than this, but... ]

B-Basically my point here is... is anyone else here like that? Is this like, a normal thing or something?

[ I mean, she did meet Ochako... who seemed to be in a similar situation. Still, she'd like input from more than just one other person. ]

Ah, I see...

[ Well, one plus now is that she’s definitely not alone in this situation. Still, it’s not exactly uplifting to hear that this entire network is mostly people like that.

Well, best to stay positive, right? For one, she managed to figure this network thing out! And now she’s talking to someone through video! It’s a start, right? ]

So you’re in the same situation too, then? [ A sigh. ] I wish she’d at least packed a little more than this...

Sometimes people can visit their home in, uh... kind of like a dream, almost? It happened to me just a couple weeks ago. But otherwise, there's no telling when you come or go. I don't know if it's any comfort for you, but beyond those visits, time stops for your home though- and when you get back, things continue as normal.

[ Honestly? That information was actually a great comfort. Considering how long she's been here already with no way of contacting anyone home... they'd probably be super worried by now, especially since she'd just managed to get back home.

Yuya especially...

Hearing that time is actually like, stopped back home... it's actually a huge relief for her. Maybe it's a little selfish, but... ]

Something happening, I take it?

Yeah, I guess you could say that...

[ Roll with the punches, huh... yeah, she's definitely learned how to do that. Especially when it involved waking up in a completely new dimension or world. Maybe she rolls with the punches a bit too much, but... what else can she do? ]

I mean, I guess I'm just glad that a few people won't be worrying about me.

[ It kind of sucks that this means that nobody from home is likely going to be working on finding her, but... there are a few people who are probably better off not worrying anyway.

As she thinks this, though, Aria suddenly shoves herself into her lap, it's fluffy ears pupping up in front of the camera for a moment as Yuzu is jostled. ]

H-Hey! H-Hold on...

[ Diva is next, the small bounsweet coming in from the side rather than what Aria did, which was forcing her way through from the front. The camera suddenly faces the sky for a moment as Yuzu adjusts...

...when the camera does move back to face Yuzu, her Eevee is sitting contently on her head while her Bounsweet nestles itself firmly onto her shoulder. ]

Sorry about that...

( ah, it is time for the children to be just that. and there the camera gooooes... man, what a beautiful day it is. look at that sky. )

Oh, don't worry about it. Mine get rambunctious like that too.

( it's hard not to giggle, actually- poppy, her own once-bounsweet, was very much the same in some manner... when she wasn't clinging to jinx for warmth. is it a trend with eevees to be so bouncy though? it's adorable. )

Looks like they're fond of you already. My bounsweet was very much the same. ... I assure you, the only reasons she isn't still as cuddly is because she's now too big.

[ Eevees are just very soft, very fluffy bundles of love! The situation aside, Yuzu's already attached to her babies. In any case, she giggles as she adjusts Diva's position on her shoulder to be a bit more comfortable for herself. ]

Everything aside, they are pretty great...

[ Which actually brings up the obligatory question... ]

By the way, I ended up in a few on my way here, but... is it really fine for them to "battle"? Mine seemed to enjoy it when someone just... challenged me out of the blue, but it's still like... fighting, right?

More like sparring, really- if anything happens that's too serious, there's free healthcare at the Pokémon Center in every town except New Bark though. It's a way to get some quick cash, but it's also a way for wild pokémon to see if you might be a trainer they'd like to go with- like a really aggressive job interview, kinda?

( except both of you are the interviewer and interviewee at the same time, and something ends up on fire. )

If your pokémon don't want to battle, they'll let you know.

[ Well, it definitely felt like that when she caught her Bounsweet. Not that it put up much of a fight, but still. ]

Well, that’s good to know.

[ Well, that’s most of her answerable questions at least. The people here already made it pretty clear that she’s expected to travel this place on her own. Which apparently means a pretty lengthy amount of walking in order to get to the next town over. Well, she’s not doing much here... so she’ll stock up on supplies and head off soon. Best not to put it off, after all. ]

What’s your name, by the way? If you don’t mind me asking, I mean.

Yeah, it wigged me out at first too, but my friend's starter actually got upset at him when he wouldn't let her battle, so...

( what does she use? she'd been experimenting with her real name, but then she went home for a time and progress all but reset. )

[ Well, Aria certainly seemed to enjoy battling, and Diva... was simply nonchalant about it all. In any case, it didn't seem to mind. ]

( at least yuzu won't get caught in a very dramatic confrontation between trainer and pokemon and their conflicting views on battling. good for her! )

[ Good for her indeed! It's the last thing she needs, honestly. ]

Still, there has to be a better way to get around... do they seriously not have any like, public transportation...?

[ Her first trek through a route hadn't gone the best... though at the very least, it's not something she hated. She just needs to go about it smarter next time... but still, it might become a problem if she hears about something happening somewhere else, and that 'somewhere else' happens to be about two weeks away. ]

If you can get a large enough pokemon, you can ride it. Birds are especially good since flying cuts the travel time down immensely.

( she has amalthea, of course, but like... she doesn't know how to horse? and razor doesn't have a riding pokemon just yet anyways. )

My theory on the lack of cars and stuff is to cut back on pollution so as to not invite infestations of poison-type pokemon.

Eh? There are birds big enough for that here?

[ That sounds... well, aside from the fact that it does sound pretty cool, it also sounds pretty concerning? Well, she supposes that people do battle with their Pokemon here, though. Besides, considering the size of monsters back home... a bird big enough to ride isn't too farfetched of an idea to her. ]

Well, I guess that makes sense... still, I doubt I'll be getting a Pokemon big enough to ride anytime soon...

[ She sighs, but hey, everyone has to start somewhere, right? ]

( as if on cue, a particularly giant raven peaks her head over, and jinx reaches up to idly pet her feathers. corviknight are absolutely huge, and should be feared and respected. and baltimore? baltimore is even bigger. oh, but with how she tries to chirp softly, it's easy to see: she's a big sweetie. )

Don't let their current size fool you- I met this lady here in one of the first areas, when she was about eight inches tall.

[ Yuzu does a double-take at the size of the raven. YEAH, THAT'S DEFINITELY LARGE ENOUGH TO RIDE... and it's a sweetie too!? Oh, she needs a big bird of her own now. ~~A Corviknight? Maybe someday, but she'll end up catching a Starly later, and hey, Staraptors are particularly famous for being good fliers and excellent for riding, right?~~ ]

WOW... she's huge! And she was only eight inches tall when you first found her? Can they really grow that big...?

[ Yes, they can... through evolution that Yuzu has yet to see for herself, but she'll find out about it later. ]

Baltimore here is a little big for her kind, but she's the best. Nothing you find is likely to stay the same size forever, unless they actively want to.

Varying and sudden, huh... well, looking at her, I believe it!

[ But wait... nothing she finds is likely to stay the same size forever? She raises an eyebrow at that. After a bit of the camera jostling so that it stays upright and pointed at her, she picks up Aria from her head and holds her up. The Eevee tilts it's head at Yuzu, confused. ]

Are you gonna become big too...?

With eevee it's much more reasonable, don't worry. They stay easy to hold and carry- my teacher's got several, so I've seen them firsthand. I'd compare the largest of them to a particularly fluffy adult cat? It won't always be this extreme.

[ Well, there's a clear sigh of relief. Honestly, she's not sure what she would do if Aria got that large... ]
