[ This whole thing? Makes no sense. The mom? Woman she’s never seen before. The monsters? Don’t even come with their own card! How do you put them in defense mode? That Pokémon Professor? Did he even have a degree?! Aki forgot to ask but after lightly snooping around the communications network she decided it was time to make herself known. She wasn’t sure if this was an entirely trustworthy place, but, after twenty-four hours she finally has something benign to talk about.

If there are two things that seem to stand out about Aki it’s that she really likes the color red and she seems to dress like she’s from a time with steam powered locomotives and cholera in the wells. She has a Budew, somehow posted on her shoulder despite the lack of appendages to truly grasp on with. ]

Good evening. My name is Aki Izayoi. I’d like to ask if it’s possible to rename these monsters. [ She directs the camera to the Pokémon accompanying her in the café booth, Skitty, who is just <i>shredding</i> up some café curtains. ] You see, this strange woman rushed me into her house at New Bark Town…? [ These rustic names are a little hard to remember for a girl from places with such lush names like The City and Satellite. ] And gave me this companion, but… she just won’t listen to anything but her full name!

Catherine! [ Skitty continues to turn beige curtains into couture runway art. A table of two notices and starts to point her out to a waiter.  ]

Princess Catherine! [ It’s not very effective… ]

Queen Princess Catherine! Stop! [ Skitty stops cold in her tracks, but the volume of her voice startles Budew, causing her to fall over off screen. The cry is high pitched, and abrasive like Baby Mario’s cry. ]

Oh no… Budew… [ Aki quickly turns the camera back. ] I’ll view the responses later. I have some things to tend to, I guess. [ A waiter who has noticed the commotion approaches as she flicks the camera off. ]

[ In what is probably one of the most unbelievable feats of athleticism, anyone who is on this route from this time will probably see a girl running in thigh high heeled boots down the road at a speed that would make one double check to see if she's being chased by the customary inaugural swarm of Beedrill. But... nothing.

There is nothing chasing her. No panicked screams, no stomps, no tantrums, just one single girl running running running as fast as she can. Maybe she nearly runs into you? Maybe she nearly knocks over your Pokémon? Maybe she scares off a Pokémon you've been following all morning? Maybe she charges straight through the field of battle, completely unaware that she just narrowly escaped an Ice Beam? Whatever it is, it's mysterious and/or reckless enough for you to flag her down and ask her what the hell man!! ]

[ Aki is standing absolutely starstruck at the Flabebes in front of her. Holding all sorts of flowers as they drift idly in the calming sea breeze. Budew and Skitty chirp and happily play in the sand. Aki doesn’t even notice that Skitty is smacking up a dust storm with her tail because of these pretty flower riders. ]

How do I get myself one of these?! [ Are you going to be that NPC that teachers how to catch Pokemon? She… wasn’t paying attention to the official tutorial. ]

Also trust me, I know damn well how busy she is and is not. Flying Pokemon's gonna be the easiest way to go 'bout all this shit. And it's the least I could do since lord knows I ain't getting in the middle of her and planning.

[ Yuzu has to collect herself a bit at the sudden outburst of Queen Princess Catherine! Followed of course by the cry from Aki's Budew. Well, it looks like Yuzu's decision to not get involved with all the Skitty's was a good one...

Well, she may as well reply while Aki deals with... whatever is going on there. ]

Well, it's kind of like dealing with pets? Like, if someone suddenly started calling you by something that wasn't your name, you wouldn't really think it's being addressed to you, right? It's probably even more set with Pokemon.

[ Still, "Queen Princess Catherine" is some name, that's for sure... and probably not the best name in terms of convenience, either. ]

You can probably train it into something easier like just "Catherine", but it'll probably take some time.

Do you have any idea on the timeframe of this? I don't even have a canteen. My mouth dries out pretty quickly. [ Beat. ] And what kind of name is Queen Princess anyways? Is she a queen? Or a princess? [ Aki is going to become the Credential Verifier of Johto!! ]

Not really... I'm pretty new here myself. I only arrived here about two weeks ago, after all.

[ She's nicknamed all of her Pokemon of course, but she hasn't had a specific need to go through that kind of process, after all. ]

It is a pretty strange name, huh? Still, 'Catherine' is at least in there, so maybe just stick to that? It'll probably be easier than choosing an entirely different name.

[ I'm going to blame that on the universal translator and not the fact that I had to pull her image files from an english game fml. But it's somehow pushed through!

While it was not very nice of her to toss her teacher out of a window, she was, last Aki heard of, not evil, for like, the last five seconds of her life. She's also the only other person that might have some more relevant information on if Aki is dead or not, so, while Full Trust has not been obtained until Aki can discern if she's in Haunted Petroglyph Mode(tm) she's also willing to not really think too much about the Divine thing.

Also, she's Learned Some Things and, um, you know, in retrospect, that fall should've been from the roof. ]

Still wearing a hooded cloak despite the heat, Togepi in his arms and a Rookidee perched on top of his hood, the kid hesitates when he sees someone else is here. At least, until he hears her question.

Honestly, it's a little ominous. Skitty and Budew play blissfully unaware of Aki's uncertainty. She also does not notice her foot getting buried more and more in sand.

"Like with a net?" So she might've not paid attention through the tutorial at all. No tips, no helpful information, Aki just straight vibed it to Cherrygrove, not even reading the signs on the way besides location.

Aki isn't so great at conversing with others either. She makes a brief noise affirming she heard him as she pulls out her backpack to get her Pokeball ready.

"All right. Here we go!" Skitty stops kicking sand to look up towards her. Aki winds her shoulder and gives a legendary toss. The Pokeball goes flying like a line drive past one of the gently floating Flabebe's and straight into the ocean. A solid miss.
