[ This whole thing? Makes no sense. The mom? Woman she’s never seen before. The monsters? Don’t even come with their own card! How do you put them in defense mode? That Pokémon Professor? Did he even have a degree?! Aki forgot to ask but after lightly snooping around the communications network she decided it was time to make herself known. She wasn’t sure if this was an entirely trustworthy place, but, after twenty-four hours she finally has something benign to talk about.

If there are two things that seem to stand out about Aki it’s that she really likes the color red and she seems to dress like she’s from a time with steam powered locomotives and cholera in the wells. She has a Budew, somehow posted on her shoulder despite the lack of appendages to truly grasp on with. ]

[ She directs the camera to the Pokémon accompanying her in the café booth, Skitty, who is just <i>shredding</i> up some café curtains. ] You see, this strange woman rushed me into her house at New Bark Town…? [ These rustic names are a little hard to remember for a girl from places with such lush names like The City and Satellite. ] And gave me this companion, but… she just won’t listen to anything but her full name!

Catherine! [ Skitty continues to turn beige curtains into couture runway art. A table of two notices and starts to point her out to a waiter. ]

Princess Catherine! [ It’s not very effective… ]

Queen Princess Catherine! Stop! [ Skitty stops cold in her tracks, but the volume of her voice startles Budew, causing her to fall over off screen. The cry is high pitched, and abrasive like Baby Mario’s cry. ]

Oh no… Budew… [ Aki quickly turns the camera back. ] I’ll view the responses later. I have some things to tend to, I guess. [ A waiter who has noticed the commotion approaches as she flicks the camera off. ]

But... nothing. There is nothing chasing her. No panicked screams, no stomps, no tantrums, just one single girl running running running as fast as she can. Maybe she nearly runs into you? Maybe she nearly knocks over your Pokémon? Maybe she scares off a Pokémon you've been following all morning? Maybe she charges straight through the field of battle, completely unaware that she just narrowly escaped an Ice Beam? Whatever it is, it's mysterious and/or reckless enough for you to flag her down and ask her what the hell man!! ]

[ Aki is standing absolutely starstruck at the Flabebes in front of her. Holding all sorts of flowers as they drift idly in the calming sea breeze. Budew and Skitty chirp and happily play in the sand. Aki doesn’t even notice that Skitty is smacking up a dust storm with her tail because of these pretty flower riders. ]

How do I get myself one of these?! [ Are you going to be that NPC that teachers how to catch Pokemon? She… wasn’t paying attention to the official tutorial. ]

So, let me see if I have this straight, in the world Jack Atlas is from, is it just him that doesn't make sense using fusions or is it anyone from that world using fusions? [ They... aren't common, per se, but the idea of them not existing at all is a little awkward. They're just outdated, not extinct! ]

Well, no... see where I'm from, there are four dimensions separated by Summoning Methods: Standard, Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz. Everyone in each dimension focuses on their own summoning method and unless someone from another dimension arrives, the existence of other methods isn't really common knowledge. The only dimension that uses all methods is Standard, but since Jack is from the Synchro Dimension, he would only have Synchro Monsters like his Red Daemon's Dragon Scarlight.

[ Fusion Monsters aren't outdated at all! They're very powerful and Yuzu's used them really well. ]

Yes, that's a little different. [ Fusion monsters in her world? Totally are... sort of. It's all about synchros for convenience and speed! They definitely don't hog the spotlight like they used to do. ~~Rituals? What are those?~~ ] We have fusion monsters where I am from. We even have speed spells to summon them during turbo duels.

They might not be used as often as synchro monsters, but we still know about them. [ ~~ooc: lol getting war flashbacks to getting back into yugioh at 5ds totally canonblind and getting my ass handed to me by every synchro and crazy trap like dimensional prison looool~~ ]

It sounds like your world is a lot like the Synchro Dimension in my world.

Still, don't underestimate Fusion Monsters! They're pretty tough! I'm from the Standard Dimension myself, but I learned how to Fusion Summon from one of the best.

I don't think of them as weak! Just rare! There are always those cards your opponent laughs at, but the joke is on them. [ YUZU KNOWS WHAT SHE MEANS SHE DOESNT EVEN NEED TO ASK. ] Any card can be powerful, it's how they can work together with the rest of your deck! [ ~~or alternatively summoning Dandylion to smack your kindergarten classmates around~~ ] Some of my biggest pinches as a duelist I overcome and won with the help of a level one monster with 0 attack and defense. [ She is one of the best students at whatever academy she goes to after all ~~because she's a main character (pre-grand prix at least)~~ ]

She was convinced she'd be out of this in Twenty Two Minutes and then just kept walking for A Suspicious Amount of Time that was Probably in the Double Digits, literally just walking past the Pidgeys and having her chain of thought interrupted by the ubiquitous battle banger. ]

I think it'd be best to have a travel buddy here. I don't know too many people but if I had someone I could duel with, that would make this experience a little less nauseating.

Right now I'm in Azalea town. It's not too far from where 'Mom' kicks you out, but it's still a ways away.

My plans mostly right now are to try and get to a place called Goldenrod City? It's a Port Town, so it sounded a lot like home to me. Plus I wanna try challenging the Pokemon Gyms as well.

I think I'm the town next over from "mom". Cherrygrove, I think, right? I'm supposed to challenge the gyms too, so I did want to investigate those. [ For some reason, based on nothing but delusions of hope, she thinks if she can get all sixteen badges she will be able to go home!! ] I think the first one is the one after this town!

Yeah, that would be the next town over. After that you'll wanna head to Violet City, and there's a gym there! Still, I was told I wasn't strong enough yet so I'll be coming back eventually once I'm ready.

It's not the same as dueling, but battling is pretty similar, so I've gotten the hang of it.
