Good afternoon everyone, on this unforgivably hot day. I would like to invite those near and far to my ranch. You may have heard that I do ask my visitors for help with the myriad chores, but is that not natural? I help you, you help me...

A bit of hard work is good for you, I say. So lay down you preconceptions and come for a visit. I have a good handful of those shiny Eevees that you all adore so much. Or if that might not strike your fancy, there are a good deal more. Please refer to the Ledger.

As you can see, I also have a bit of a hole in my water type breeding stock. Those with a Marill that they would be willing to trade me should contact me. For my own purposes, I will also be trading for or purchasing Shiftry, Hoppip, Axew, and Victreebel. The sooner you're here, the sooner you might fulfill your dreams. So, what are you waiting for?

What effect does being shiny have on the pokemon?

Observably little. Except, I suppose, there is no shortage of those that desire them. Some of them can become quite conceited. Same for people, I'm sure.

[instrumentally]

They are desired for their rarity?

[hythlodaeus]

Precisely. Man does often want what his neighbor does not, after all. What do you think of them?

[instrumentally]

I do not know yet.

[hythlodaeus]

Have you met one yet? Looked upon its visage, placed your hands in their fur?

[instrumentally]

No. Not yet.

[hythlodaeus]

...Only one way to know for sure then. Do you have a favorite creature? Or... failing that, a favorite color?

[instrumentally]

Blue.

I do not have much money to pay you.

Nevermind that. Money systems are spurious at best.

If you like blue I have the most wonderful creature to show you.

Can you ride a horse?

[instrumentally]

No. But I would be willing to learn.

A ranch is a marvelous place to learn, don't you think?

Do you really have anything more important to do than appreciate a horse?

[instrumentally]

I suppose not.

I may need some assistance getting to your ranch, however.

[hythlodaeus]

That can be arranged. Where are you currently located? I have a couple of errand boys.

[instrumentally]

I am staying in Azalea Town.

[hythlodaeus]

Why, that isn't far at all. I could fetch you myself. You aren't afraid of heights, are you?

[instrumentally]

I am not.

I will wait for you at the Pokemon Center.

[ What Hythlodaeus considers a short distance or a long time is absolutely influenced by his status as an immortal being. After an hour flight into the city of Goldenrod, he warps from that Pokémon center to the one in Azaelea. ]

[ He is quite the sight. Eight feet tall, dressed in coveralls that have been zipped down with the arms tied about his waist. A sweaty white t-shirt underneath. He pulls out his phone and texts.]

I have arrived.

[instrumentally]

[Rei is wearing a school outfit. Vest, skirt, white shirt, tennis shoes. It came in the backpack she picked up when she arrived here. It is familiar, in some ways. Not quite the same color green. But very close.

She is small, even for someone fourteen years old. Blue hair. Pale. Ghost-like. A Solosis trails behind her. She hides behind Rei's shoulders. A little shy.

She speaks, when she spots the very tall other.]

I am here.

[hythlodaeus]

[He considers her for a moment. Small thing, lack of pigment. Leucistic, or, no... Albino? He looks into her eyes for a moment. This place was strange, after all. He holds a hand to his face, finger against his lips.]

That you are. Have you been to Goldenrod? Can you warp?

[Something about her, a familiar strangeness. ]

[instrumentally]

I have not. But I will follow you if I am able.

[She does not know how these warp pads work, if they will reject her as she has never been to Goldenrod before. But she is certain that there must be some way that she can get there. Like those... Ubirds, they called them, that took her to the shore. So she will wait patiently until things become more clear.]

[hythlodaeus]

Then we'll fly. Come with me.

[He steps outside of the Pokémon center, shielding his eyes from the sun as he does. He waits for her to follow before releasing his bigger than usual Tropius. It kneels as Hythlodaeus slides onto its back.]

Banania. Her, too. [He speaks softly to his dinosaur and pats his neck. The Tropius turns and takes a mouthful of the back of her shirt and begins to lift her. ]

[instrumentally]

[Rei Ayanami has no particular reaction on her face as she is lifted into the air by a gigantic banana-dinosaur. She is sure it will be careful, should it choose to carry her by the scruff of her shirt. She has ridden in more dangerous ways on more dangerous things.

But she does, somewhat foolishly, hope that she will be placed onto its back.]

[hythlodaeus]

[ Capturing her by the scruff is thankfully temporary as he moves her over his back like a big clumsy crane game claw, depositing her in front of Hythlodaeus, half in his lap, half onto its leaves. The tropius leaves a trail of saliva on her collar that he hopes she won't mind. ]

[Banania wiggles from side to side, situating them and looking like the fat bumblebee he is. He takes off with a few powerful flaps of his leaves, getting them above the average building height.]

It will be several hours like this. Inform me if you require a meal or rest.

Oh, silly me. What is your name?

[instrumentally]

[Rei sits on the dinosaur's back. It is strangely comfortable. Her Solosis hops up to sit in her lap, slightly sticky. She nods as the wind rushes around her, loud and echoing. She hopes her voice is not lost in it.]
