[ this time, sandalphon willingly activates the video features. he needs answers, and he needs them now.

it’s clear from the start of the video that aside from the new starly perched on his head and the new backdrop of cherrygrove, he was clearly very, very distraught. it honestly looked like he hadn’t slept for the night, with disheveled hair and slight bags under his eyes. aside from the fact that he’s never really seen an aurora borealis, the stars in the sky were bringing back really, really bad memories. he’s at least thankful that the little bird pokémon was on his head in the first place— his presence made it a lot more easier to articulate his emotions without screaming his lungs out.

Can someone please explain the phenomena in the sky?! Those seekers only made me even more confused and I can’t wrap my head around anything they said, aside from their Lost Temple or whatever nonsense they were spouting...

[ the starly chirps a couple times on his head, as if to say calm down, it’s nothing too serious. sandalphon only gives him an annoyed look before continuing. ]

We have no idea. But there's going to be an opportunity to investigate, and it seems to be linked to a temple...? Given the focus on 'sanctuary' in the little... poem, I have no reason to believe it's going to be entirely bad, but you can never tell with magic bullshit. But... given the stanza about "the greatest treasure of mankind"...

( the girl pauses for a moment, tugging lightly on a lock of hair before shrugging. )

[ he really doesn’t know how to respond aside from a face that can only be described as “how the fuck did you do that”. he manages to compose himself before he completely loses his sanity, clearing his throat before he continues. ]

First of all, the word ‘temple’ alone is about to make me lose my lunch, so please refrain from using the word for the time being. Second, I don’t make friends.

[ both starly and an off screen milcery protest loudly at that. sandalphon elects to ignore them for now. ]

( because she gets it, honestly. beehive imagery makes her sick to her stomach. she knows that chip has their own problems, that felix has an issue with the concept of knights, that everyone has something that's scarred their hearts.

There's been a few who've experienced that, from what I understand. It makes sense- I lost my magic when I was brought here too.

( there's a long pause, and sandalphon might be able to see a hatterene inch closer, the clawed tentacle resting on her trainer's shoulder for a moment. and, in an attitude different from the cynical teen from just moments before, jinx looks to the camera again. )

... For what it's worth, being brought to an entirely new dimension is pretty lonely. Maybe reconsider. ... Or don't. Far be it from me to tell a complete stranger what to do.

[ that catches his attention: so magic was lost across the board, and sandalphon now had to depend on his pokemon in order to function here. he nods, understanding that there was no changing that.

but he notes the serious look in her eye when she says her next words. there was something about it that he couldn’t shake off, even if he wanted to. she does have a point, however. if there was something he was relentlessly tired of, it was loneliness. it was his entire existence before coming here, and while he didn’t want to depend on the pokémon, it was his new normal.

He sighs heavily and lifts his eyes up and looks at the camera as well. ]

We're all a bunch of people who basically got kidnapped from across the multiverse... and in some cases, it might have gotten someone out of pretty bad situations. But it's still a lot to deal with and accept, especially on your own.

( every day she's thankful for razor at her side. so... it actually is just one little girl being well-meaning. even if she's a little clumsy at it. )

Regardless, people over the Network will usually be willing to help at any given point. Even if it's just to talk.

( shoutout to the folks up way past midnight to keep her company when she was sick and dealing with rude owls breaking into her apartment. )

He doesn’t want to jinx it and say it’s something else entirely. It’s dredging up bad memories if he thinks it’s anything but what can be logically explained in this world.

Unless this was the Singularity, he had every reason to believe it was the thing that has him petrified. He’s grateful that the boy always chooses voice.

“Yes, I arrived two days ago. I don’t plan on staying here, however.” He was curious about other pokémon. The Pokédex was convincing him to explore every nook and cranny until it was all filled with information.

Which phenomena do you mean, exactly? I believe I can explain the sheets of light relatively well, but I'm at a loss when it comes to the newfound stars in the sky.

The lights in the sky. If the stars are simply stars, then that makes a lot more sense. I suppose my irrationality is getting the better of me.

The lights are, if they are similar to the sort that occasionally happen where I am from, called an aurora. They are caused by winds very, very high up in the air, where the sunlight first reaches the Earth. The wind causes the light arriving to Earth to bend and shift direction, and because of that, start to glow with different colors.

[ sandalphon’s rationality kicked in. finally, a scientific explanation. he appreciated everyone stating it was just a pokémon, but sometimes science won over someone as logical as sandalphon. but the downside of it was now the embarrassment he felt for freaking out the way he did. ]

I see… that, quite frankly, is the best explanation I’ve received about the aurora. Such a phenomena does not exist in my world, and I ended up associating it with… something else. Forgive my unsightly display.

There is nothing to forgive, as it is a rather complicated phenomenon to understand. And, admittedly, it is possible that this particular aurora could be caused by some kind of very powerful pokemon, but I would have to do a little more digging to be able to guess at which one.

It's probably some kind of Legendary that's up to something. When stuff like this happens, it's almost always one of them.

A Legendary… [ he remembers reading about them, and their dominions over the land. it would make sense, honestly. ]

Not exactly like this. But it's pretty normal to see one of them around, maybe once a year? Twice?

They're normally peaceful. Sometimes bad things can influence them, but I've never seen one that's outright malicious.

Last time was no joke. Ho-oh had some really bad stuff stuck to it that was making it act weird, and it took all of Ecruteak to work together in the city's defense. But it was really sorry when everything was over. I have some of the Sacred Ash it gave to us as thanks still!

That's a very good question! But I'm afraid I don't have a different guess than anyone else, I think it's a Legendary. But the lights...

They made me think of my starter, Terra. She's a Minior. Minior come from outer space and fall to the earth, and their cores are bright light.

I think they just love what they do very much.

That, at least, is still an explanation I can accept. But Minior being a Pokémon from outer space…? Are they related to Clefairy?

[ that thought of ‘enjoying what they do’ sends a feeling of dread through sandalphon. so even pokémon had a purpose… ] … They probably do. If they were given the ability to do so, then they surely would find joy in it.

No, I don't think they're related to Clefairy. They're a rock sort of Pokemon. I think that's why she was my starter, we're both rocks from outer space!

It's fascinating watching Pokemon in the wild, they utilize all their different abilities in such creative and amazing ways!
