RIDDLE ME THIS ! [ CLOSED ]

WHO: Jinx, Rainer Michelle, Hermione Granger, & Yuzu Hiiragi
WHAT: Team Magical Girls is figuring out their riddle!
WHEN: Shortly after the teams were announced- maybe a day later, just for time to coordinate?
WHERE: The Goldenrod City Library (probably)

 

( shortly after teams went up, jinx had made a point of contacting both rainer and hermione- yuzu, being a new friend, was already in her gear's contact list, thankfully. coordination isn't too difficult- especially with trains and flying pokémon, and the next day team magical girls has claimed a private study room in a local library, with water bottles, notebooks, a white board and markers and magnets, at least one laptop and stacks of books. in the center is a copy of their riddle:

Sun-fed soil plunged in eternal night
A gradient between gold and pink
A source of warmth despite the dark
To call to ancestors and descendants

The Voice of the Forest echoes
Simultaneously, continuously, it returns
Bring an offering, a leaf of stone
To be touched by the voice, brought to the place of convergence

and jinx sets down a particularly sleepy espurr on the table, while a persian is curled up beside her chair. emotional support cats are very important in meetings, okay? )

Ladies. Kitties. Other pokémon. Thanks for getting here so quickly- uh, I know we already talked but. You can call me Jinx. Allium is the espurr, and Cinna is the persian. I've been delegated the role of Team Captain, so it's going to be my job to talk to the Legendary Seekers if you guys have any questions or concerns. Otherwise, I don't think it's anything too special. So, I got us some supplies... I didn't wanna risk bringing food into anything, but hey, we got water! Water's important.

One thing that stood out to me especially is 'The Voice of the Forest'- I just spent a lot of time Azalea and Ilex Forest already, so I'm pretty familiar with stories about Celebi at the moment, but I want to doublecheck first before assuming anything.

How about you guys? Anything of note?

[ There's a cheerful young woman with long blonde hair coming in on an electric blue and red wheelchair. Holding the door to the study room open for her is her trusty henchperson, Dusky the Dusclops. ]

Hi everybody! I'm Rainer. [ Pronounced "Rain-near." ] I thought Dusky here could help us stay organized, and I've got Buzz with me, manning the chair.

[ There's a crackle of assent from her Rotom-powered wheelchair, as she rolls up to the table and starts pulling notepads and pens out of her bag. ]

I think I've got a granola bar in here somewhere, just in case anyone gets desperate...

[ Already here (since she was already in Goldenrod) is a young girl with bright pink hair done up in pigtails, along with a Sylveon sitting on her lap. Fitting, considering how her color scheme matched Yuzu's in pink, white, and blue. ]

Hey! I'm Yuzu, and this is Aria.

[ Aria coos a bit from it's spot on her lap. On her end, she's got plenty of snacks in her bag that she would've saved for her time on the road, but if they need something, she's got stuff.

Meanwhile, Jinx' question... ]

Azalea... that name is a pink flower. [ Because Yuzu would know all about different shades of pink, wouldn't she? ]

[Hermione already has a notebook open and has jotted down the riddle, tapping a pen against the paper as she listens to the others, trying to resist the urge to start flipping open books straight away. She's is extremely impressed with Jinx' setup here - Hermione doubted she could have done better herself. She's also finally, finally managed to make amends with Cyto, so the Reuniclus is floating over the table, also studying the riddle.]

Hi, I'm Hermione Granger, pleasure to meet you all. That's Cyto, floating above us. He was really keen to come when he found out we were trying to solve a riddle.

I think you could be onto something with the shade of pink. [She nods towards Yuzu.]

Have we got a map somewhere? It's been a while since I've been through Azalea - is it on the way to Goldenrod? Could that be the 'between gold and pink' reference in the second line?

Although I'm not sure about 'gradient'....

Good news! I just got out of Azalea- I was actually on my way here to Goldenrod when everything started. This just got us in gear, really.

( her companion's probably just doing his own thing right now. good for him. with a particular lavender-colored marker, she circles 'voice of the forest' on the whiteboard. )

So, while I was there, I heard a lot of different stories about Celebi and it was most often referred to as the Voice of the Forest if not by it's name.

As for 'gradient'... admittedly, I thought for a bit that it could refer to Cresselia for a moment? But it's got no connection to Celebi. ( sooo she just writes 'conspiracy corner' in the top left and then cresselia underneath in smaller letters. perfect. ) Pretty sure it's definitely not it at this point, but writing down the 'nos' is also good, just so we keep track of our options. ... Also, there's more markers.

( she really likes colors and color-coding things. )

I'll admit, I haven't been in this plane for very long, so I don't know a whole lot about Celebi or other legendary Pokemon or anything, but...

[ She grabs a green marker and heads to the board where she draws a little picture of a leaf and circles it. ]

Aren't there various stones that different kinds of Pokemon need in order to evolve? And one of them is a leaf stone, right? Could that be the "leaf of stone" that the riddle mentions bringing as an offering?
