[Mikasa had been stopping with Armin on the islands for a while now. Playing with his pokemon, training her own when he was busy. But recently she'd noticed something and she wasn't even sure how to ask...

So she grabbed her gear and tried to record it.

It being her glowing Shinx. Now him glowing wasn't normally too concerning. He did that when getting ready to attack or when he was surprised. But now he was doing it while curled up in a ball and he kept doing it. Then after a few seconds of silently focusing on the cat, she spoke up.]

Does anyone have a cat like this? Is something wrong with him?

[Then his glowing brightened and- and... He vanished, leaving a larger cat in his place.]

...Where'd he go?

[He teleport?? Whose cat is this? Where is her boy?????]

The average weight for a Luxray is 42 kilograms, and the height 1.4 metre. That's about...

[Cecil very obviously starts moving as he speaks, a decision which is explained when the Pokégear suddenly shows a pair of Luxray grooming themselves on a bed. That should be more helpful that mere numbers, he hopes.]

...this large. As you can see, the difference is not quite as striking as the one between Shinx and Luxio.

[Mikasa silently stared at the clip for a moment. Doing some math, thinking...]

He's going to be the same height as me... [Horrifying.]

...I've no doubt you'll outgrow him within a year or two.

[But, yes, admittely horrifying for a young trainer. Surely there's a silver-lining there?]

However, in the mean time, you might be able to ride him on the road. That'll greatly reduce your travel time, should you wish to explore the region.

I think he'd rather sleep than carry me. [But he yowled, his head coming into frame as he nuzzled her.] Normally I carry him.

[And after a moment, she rested the pokegear down. Angling it so both her and the pokemon could be seen. Then she lifted him...Hm, weighs less than Eren. This is fine. The cat was overjoyed too, he could still be the baby. ]

Some Pokémon become more active upon evolving, so his preferences might change later.

[Doesn't look like it happened this time, if that happy cat is any indication. But as long as she doesn't mind and can still lift him, it's fine, right? Cecil certainly hopes so.]

...Of course, some grow lazier instead...

I don't think he can get any lazier. That's how I caught him...

[She gave him food and he just clung on.]

Laziness is sometimes a blessing, it seems.

[Since it led to such a beautiful friendship.]

But as long as it suits you both, that's not much of a problem, is it?

My other pokemon likes fighting. She'd get mad if he liked fighting as well.

Truly? Goodness, if she prefers to fight every battle herself, she must possess boundless energy. That's rather impressive.

She's strong, most of the pokemon we fought when we first got here couldn't do anything. [Though that might have been because she was a steel type.] It scares people.

How saddening. Such strength should earn respect, not fear. After all, battling well and often is the goal of many of this world's inhabitants, both human and Pokémon.

[Besides, there's plenty of better reasons to be afraid of certain species.]

She does it when the other pokemon are sleeping... [Ambushing is rude.] She just charges unless I tell her not to.

...Oh dear.

[Were he not speaking to a child, that might have come out stronger.]

She'll... rarely have the opportunity to do so in official matches, thankfully. Still, should she attack the wrong Pokémon someday, it might turn badly for her.

[Even if the Luxio looks too lazy to do so, if the other strikes first again...]

No. They're okay now... She tries to ride him... [He wasn't a very good steed though.]

Is that so? She'll surely be pleased to see his new form, then. He'll be much easier to ride now that he's larger, after all.

[Such unwarranted optimism, really.]

Maybe... That's going to scare my friend...

...Perhaps you should reintroduce them slowly to each other, then, to avoid any unexpected frights.

She'd run away. Or cry... She nearly did when our pokemon started fighting.

This is... perhaps not the best world for someone who nearly weeps when battles occur. She must be terribly stressed.
