She gives an agitated sigh and rubs at her forehead. Her gem is gone, her powers over metal aren't working, she's a human now... All of that on top of being taken from her home. It's been a day.]

Okay, this place really doesn't make sense to me. I understand the idea of competitive sparring, sure! But then you also fight Pokemon to subdue them for capture, right? Only instead of behaving like captives, they'll be your friends if you succeed.

I've been spending years figuring out how things work on Earth! And on Earth, things sure don't work like that! So what, now I have to start all over in a whole new place that makes no sense to me?

It does seem all rather strange at first! But fighting isn't the same for Pokemon as it is for...well...nearly every other species!

[Peridot just stares at first, uncertain. She recognizes this person, because Rose - Pink? - looks more or less the same as she did in that unnervingly large portrait that used to hang in Steven's home. And... She really isn't sure how she feels. She'd probably look to Steven and Amethyst as guides on the subject, and - especially after learning about the whole Diamond thing - their feelings had been complicated, and not often openly shared.

Besides, they're not here... But Peridot is. And Rose is. It seems almost unfair.

After a few seconds of staring, Peridot lets out a nasal squeak, then says - in a very small voice:] I don't know how to process this.

Oh it just takes a little time to get used to! Pokemon are very important on this planet. And the people are so helpful!

[Sorry, Peridot, Rose has no idea who she's talking to right now.]

[It makes sense, and leaves Peridot with a couple of options. She can lie, and play along. She can also just hang up, right? That's got to be an option. Instead, she just ends up blurting things out.]

You're Rose Quartz! You founded the Crystal Gems, and the fact that you did worked out really well, you know, for me! But first- First you were a Diamond and nothing they did worked out well for anyone!

You're from home?

Yes. I'm friends with Steven. And Amethyst, and Bismuth.

I never knew you, but... You've had a big impact on my life.

Steven told me about lots of his friends, when he was here. I'm so very glad he's had so many people to help him and care about him.

Which one are you?

I'm Peridot.

And, well, the truth is... It's more the other way around, me and Steven.

Steven's told me a little about you. He has a very good heart, doesn't he?

Only a little? Stevennn!

[She's definitely sulking a bit now, though not upset enough to deny that she agrees.]

...He does, yeah. Steven believes there's good in everyone, and he can usually make that be true.

He wasn't here for very long, and we had so much to talk about...

But he spoke very fondly of you, when he did. I'd very much like to talk to you, if that's alright.

[There's a rather lengthy pause, before:] Okay.

Yes, I'd-- ["like" isn't the word, really.] --be interested in that, too. Where, um, where are you?

We'll come to you! It's easier for Greg and I to get around, we have a caravan.

You're in one of the first towns, aren't you?

Okay, that does sound easier. I'm still in New Bark Town.

Why don't we meet you outside the next town? It will take a few days for us to get there.

Oh and remember to eat! You're human now and humans need to eat every day!

Hmm, alright, I'll see you there.

And right! What, um... What food tastes bet?

Oh it's so hard to choose! Ice cream is amazing! Especially with potato chips. And cheeseburgers! You have to try the pineapple kind! Oh, and any kind of omelet, they're all good. And you've got to try fried pickles!

Those... Are a lot of food Steven likes to eat... Thank you, Rose. I'll try to remember that list.
