[Scrooge has been handling being here pretty well, to be honest. He's got a team that's almost completely fully evolved, he's done various odd jobs in cities to make some extra coin (at least, until he can catch his own Meowth). No badges yet, but he's doing all he can to work toward that, too. He's even handled some of Ilex Forest, although at the moment he's back in Azalea.
There is, however, one question on his mind. So one afternoon he finally decides to put it forth to whoever might decide to answer.]
Is there another way of getting items rather than buying them or relying on the faulty luck of Pickup? There's GOT to be something more than just being at the mercy of the store clerk.

You do raise a few good points. Although in the case of the former, I would assume he would have an apprentice or a similar system of learning in place. And some of these items are natural products and may be limited in quantity to preserve their sources from over-harvest. Besides, in the case of people brought here from other world, our stays here are extremely unpredictable in terms of length, anywhere from one or two months to several years. It might take a long time and very fine work to learn to make something as complex as a Pokéball that must work perfectly; time that a student might not have to learn properly, let alone put to use.

That, at least, I could agree with. Perhaps a survival manual to supplement the Trainer's Guides we receive?

[Perhaps he could put one together himself. For a low, low beginner's fee of course.]
I well remember those days, long ago as they were for me. 'Course, I'm an old salt at taking care of myself on the road now, but others might not be so fortunate. Such as my nephews and niece. Who knows what would've happened to them had Uncle Scrooge not been there!

Ah, so you have family here?
[That would put his frugality in a different light. if he needs to provide for them.]

Ah, of course. There have been instances of people from the same world being brought to this one, if you hadn't heard already.
[Including children, in Mikasa's case, although... given how peaceful this world was, and the... "procedure" of giving new arrivals a Pokémon to start with for protection, this is honestly a decently safe place for a child.]
