It’s a nice… well okay, it’s not sunny since this week has been an almost non-stop wintry mix. But at least Keith and Allura have nice, cozy rooms at the inn they’ve been staying at in Violet City—

Ah. And then the broadcast goes out. And Riz calls up Allura to see if she and Keith and help with the Braviary sitting on top of the Radio Tower. Welp… good thing this call is early in the morning, it’s going to take a few hours to get to Goldenrod, even by flying. Once they get there… well, surely things will go smoothly, right? (Allura sincerely hopes there’s cocoa after this…)

[Jane's primary advice for people is to stay inside, and to keep their Pokemon inside as much as possible. Especially the little ones. If these birds are giving the Elite Four pause, then they aren't anything to sneer at. But there's one that's just. Roosting on the Radio Tower? And that's local, that's a concern, and she doesn't want there to be a rash of new missing creatures claims because they keep getting abducted or something. Better to nip this situation in the bud, in her opinion.

So Jane is more "casing the joint", as they say, rather than trying to march up there and fight this bird on her own. Surely it's got good eyes, but if she sticks to the shadows and in groups, maybe it won't think to notice her.

But at the same time, which one of you are going to appear and do something potentially foolish?]

[In some ways, the fact that one of these birds has shown up in Goldenrod is an advantage; Riz spent months in this city, and he had gotten quite intimately familiar with the little streets and alleys. Which means he is the obvious choice to scout ahead and get the lay of the land, so to speak.

The area directly around the Radio Tower has been cleared by the Jennies, which will be an advantage to them. It means they won't have to worry about any innocent bystanders while they deal with the Braviary.

Sticking close to the walls, Riz slinks from shadow to shadow, trying to get a good bead on exactly where the bird is perched, and what the best place to fight it would be. Though he soon discovers he is not the only one with this idea, apparently.]

Miss Jane?

[Despite the fact that the Braviary up on the Radio Tower is unlikely to hear them, Riz keeps his voice to a soft whisper anyway. Force of habit!]

[Jane isn't even really in a secluded area, she's just blending into the crowd that's adamant on watching what's happening - but she jumps at the sound of her name, looking about as if unsure it was really called. But then her gaze snaps in Riz's direction...not on him, but close enough, and she pops into the crowd only to, minutes later, appear in the area he's lurking in.]

Riz? Is that you?

[Riz melts a little closer, less hidden in the shadows now. He's still not completely out in the open, not wanting to give Mr Bird up there any info on his whereabouts, but Jane should be able to see him now.]

Yeah, it's me. Are you going after the bird too?

Not so much that as trying to figure out the situation - are you?

Yeah. [And quickly added, before she might worry] Not alone, obviously. I got Mando, Allura and Keith with me. I'm scouting ahead to get as much info as I can before we try and engage it.

[You know, doing that good rogue stuff.]

I-I would certainly hope you weren't planning on doing this alone! Lance isn't exactly a pushover - I've battled him, I know! So for one of these things to catch him off-guard is kind of concerning...

Yeah, no, don't worry. I'm an adventurer. I'm all about fighting in parties. [He gestures to himself.] I mean, unless I really get the drop on someone, you can't do what I do without some people to have your back.

[Riz has his fault. He has many of them, in fact. But one flaw he doesn't have is that grumpy 'I'm a lone wolf, I must fight alone' attitude.

In fact--]

Actually, do you want in? I'm sure the others wouldn't mind having another person helping out. We're all gonna get the same reward anyway.

Well I can't let you all go at it without another set of hands on deck, now can I?

[You've told her you're doing this thing, and it'd be irresponsible of her to not help. Not just as someone who's been here for so long, and not just as an Aurora League gym leader, but as a friend.]

Do you wanna both scout ahead? I could take one side and you the other. It'll take less time and we'll be able to tackle this thing before it hurts anyone here.

[She nods, and holds out a hand to shake.] Sounds good. Should we meet around the other side of...this area?

[Riz is more than happy to shake her hand. Yes, this is all going very professionally, which he's into.]

Yes, that sounds like a good idea. We could meet up at, uh-- [he digs in his brain for a moment, trying to remember everything he can about this area.] there is that little cafe, right? We could meet up in front of that.

[Did someone say "potentially foolish?"

Well no, Allura at least tries to be a bit more cautious as she approaches the Radio Tower, having been roped into this by Riz and just arriving from Violet on the back of a very exhausted Kirlos. She does make her way over when she sees the Gym Leader though.]

Jane? Riz called me and Keith to come here. How are things holding up?

[Jane perks up at her name, though looks surprised at the mention of others. As far as she knows, she's been surveying the situation on her own.]

Uh, okay so far? Most people are keen to stare and take pictures or videos, there haven't been any dives at the crowd yet...

Good. Honestly, I'm surprised it's so docile...

[Knock on wood...]

So... how do we go about this?

Honestly? I'm not sure. I don't want to wait to see if the darned thing acts and let people risk getting hurt, but you cannot exactly climb up the Radio Tower itself and not expect to get into a pickle yourself.

True. It's not as if we can leave it there, however. And Kirlos absolutely needs to rest after flying us here so quickly. [And alas, he's the only one of Allura's Pokémon who currently knows Fly, thanks to having been bred with it.] I do have Coressa with me, but I don't think her moves can reach up that high. Not to mention, do we have any idea what this Pokémon's typing is besides Flying?

[Jane shakes her head.] From the message Lance put out, it just seems...bigger, and differently colored than a normal Braviary. If it still has that Flying typing, then electricity is going to be our best bet, but the best I've got in that department is Dinah, and I'm...it's not like we have an Audino Trebuchet lying around...nor would I put her in one.

[A soft snort.]

Nor would I. Hm... I also have Fraldor. Or Coressa is quite powerful herself. [And the snow fox did quite well in Falkner's gym challenge, even before her latest evolution.] Do you have any Flying types that could get us up there?

I've got Bettina, but I haven't tried to Fly on her with two people before.

[It's a Crobat. They're weirdly big, but do. Would you like to see the Crobat.]
