victory_road | Fourth Paper Crane [Action/Video]

[Somewhere outside of Cherrygrove, Hanna seems to be in the middle of a Pokemon battle. His Inkay seem to be listening fairly well to him today, but if you look closely, he's wearing his "Inkay shirt" which is covered in ink stains from various pranks and retaliation for apparent slights from the little pokemon.] Steven, use Topsy Turvy!

[He calls, which isn't a move he uses all that often, but against a Metapod who's been using harden every chance it gets? Well. It's worth it. Except as soon as Steven Squidberg flips upside down he starts to glow.]

What the fu- [Having never experienced evolution first hand, Hanna isn't sure what to do until he realizes what's happening and pulls out his pokegear frantically, trying to get it to the pokedex setting. He's got a bad feeling about this. The glowing subsides and in Inkay's place is a large, terrifying tentacle monster that looks pure evil. Hanna swallows and lets the pokedex do it's thing.]

Malamar, the Overturning Pokemon. It wields the most compelling hypnotic powers of any Pokémon, and it forces others to do whatever it wants. Luring prey close with hypnotic motions it then wraps its tentacles around it before finishing it off with digestive fluids.

[Hanna's newly evolved Steven turns as his pokedex spouts out the disturbing information, winking at him and then wiggling it's tentacles at him enticingly. To which Hanna might have screamed and immediately called Steven back into his pokeball.]

[Hanna is wide eyed, afraid, unsure of the monster tucked inside it's little ball on his belt. He whispers, just in case it can hear him plotting against it, just in case it doesn't hypnotize him through the barrier of the pokeball and get him to release it.]

Have pokemon ever killed anyone, like. People. Because I'm pretty sure that i've got one that's pure evil. And I think it wants to eat me. Like legit rip me to pieces with its, uh. tentacles.

Oh! Uh, the runey kind? Like, you draw symbols and those symbols have power. It's pretty hands on stuff but pretty darn useful if you've got nothing else.

I mostly used it for defense and seals. Not that it matters much here.

[Well, that sure sounds like it'd be right up Tiny Tina's alley...too bad Tina isn't here.]

Mng...So no explosions?

It's really glowy? I mean, there is some offensive stuff I use that's flashy, but no real explosions unfortunately.

Flashy's good, too! Bright lights and loud noises, a spectacular orchestra of ocular and aural sensation!!

It's magenta? Not really loud either...Sorry to disappoint.

[No spectacular orchestra coming from this ginger.] Um...have you ever seen Fantasia? That might be up your alley.

[Hanna isn't sure what to say about that. He's just going to focus on Fantasia.]

Yeah, it's like this Disney movie using music and pictures to flow with the music or what ever. It's pretty cool. Lots of sound and colors.

[That's...probably a good idea, Hanna.]

Sounds like a trip.

[He pauses and grumbles quietly in a reflective sort of way.]

No time for movies on Pandora. Just wooooork work work.

[Fun work, but still. Vaults don't hunt themselves!]

Well, some bits of it are. My favorite was bald mountain and then that one with the centaurs and pegasi...but I haven't watched it in forever.

[Hanna's heard of Pandora before though...who had mentioned it?] Oh! So you're like, from where Jack's from?

[Because obviously Everyone should know Jack and he's definitely a perfectly fine human being.]

[He's been here for long enough that someone just mentioning Jack's name isn't enough to set off the mindless rage machine anymore, but his whole attitude shifts from one of affable lunacy to tense and focused anger.

He brings the device right up to his face to fix his one-eyed gaze on Hanna.]

He's where I'm from. He gutted it from the inside out and tried to burn what was left!

[Oops. That wasn't the reaction Hanna thought he'd get.]

Oh...Uh. I'm sorry. I didn't really know? Pandora just sounded familiar cause Jack talked about it.

[That's awkward. WHAT IS HE SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THAT INFORMATION? Jack seemed okay when they talked. What if he wasn't? Also this guy seemed crazy. so. Who knew?]

[Krieg definitely has a few screws loose, it's true. But so does Jack; the one of the many differences between them is, Jack is able to hide it better.]

Mngh.

[He pulls his face back from the device to a less obnoxious distance at the apology, and fidgets briefly before continuing:]

Most people don't know.

[He shrugs.]

What did he, uh. Do...exactly?

[He feels kind of bad, like he's spying on his kind of friend. But...he's curious. And it's not like he's not going to ask Jack about it afterward. So at least he's not going to hide it?]

[Hanna, the absolute, number one worst thing you can do is ask Jack about it, because then you'll have to admit you were talking to Krieg, and then you're really gonna regret everything.

But, uh, good thing ignorance is bliss, right? Right!

...Also, man, Krieg is not the best person to explain this. He's getting better, though. Slowly! The more he talks to people, the easier it gets...bit by bit. He knows a lot of words! Pretty much all of them, really! It's choosing the right ones and bringing them together coherently that's the tricky part.

Maybe a series of bullet-points will suffice.]

Drilled too deep. Killed innocent people. Murdered his daughter. Looking for the Vault, the Vault was the key, the Vault was all he cared about, the Vault was gonna give him unlimited power and let him rain fire from the sky to kill everyone who was left!!

[Hey, not bad there, big guy! Got all the key plot points in and everything.]
