[ so naoto is a very curious person. he managed to catch the drift of what was going on from lance, but also... ]

So! Has anyone figured out how to get rid of all the tiny foxes? One's on my chest and I can't get it off.

[ naoto is still lacking an arm to actually do much. his absol has tried everything to keep it off, but nothing. ]

[Outside of Naoto's window, there's a fairly large commotion going on.]

[Sarge, the Silvally that's supposed to be helping Naoto, is outside doing what seems to be running around in circles? But actually, he's running around a bunch of Hisuian Zorua. It looks like he's trying to herd them in the way a border collie would with a bunch of sheep, barking and nipping at them. Since they're tricky little Ghost types, he's not all that successful... It looks like they're getting the better of him more than he is of them.]

[Kazuki is chasing all of them at a much slower pace, trying to get Sarge to stop. He's even less successful. The need to herd small Pokemon was Sarge's glitch, and even after years of work, it was still a bad habit of his.]

Come on Sarge, let it go! We've worked on this!

[ as soon as naoto ends the feed is when he hears the commotion going on outside. he lets out a childish whine. he wants to see! the zorua, seeing its opportunity, transforms into naoto himself to cause chaos as he walks up to the window.

the real naoto can only stare in horror as it does. ]

Heeeeey! Looks like the big doggy can't even do that job right!

[ 'fuck.' naoto swears under his breath. ]

[Kazuki stops and looks towards the window in surprise, while Sarge continues to bark and snap at the Zorua. It fools him for a good couple of seconds, before he remembers that Naoto isn't able to stand right now. He grabs a broom off the porch, and shoves it through the open window to waggle threateningly at the projection of Naoto.]

Go on, shoo! You know you're not allowed to bother the guests!

Yes I am!! You're not the boss of me!!

[ the zoura blows a raspberry at him, meanwhile naoto just sighs in relief. at least kazuki knows it's not him being the idiot. ]

Besides I can tell the others to make your lives worse so don't boss me around!!

[ "can you not do that?!" comes from naoto, still on bed arrest. ]

I told you guys! You're welcome to stay on the grounds, but you can't be playing pranks on the guests! My inn, my rules!

[Kazuki sounds rather like a father sternly scolding his hyperactive child... While still poking at the Zorua with the bristled end of the broom.]

I've got enough Pokemon that can Sing to put you all asleep for the whole weekend!

[ the zorua blows more raspberries, trying to stay away from the accusing broomstick. no!!! it will not be silenced!!!!! ]

I don't care!! You're bad at your job anyways!!!

I'd help if I could!! [ the real naoto shouts. ]

Alright, that's it. Sebastian!

[Almost immediately, a male Indeeedee opens the door to the room, with a look of stern disapproval on its severe little face. It waves its finger with a flourish, and uses Psychic to float the Zorua into the air and out the door, and eventually out of the inn entirely.]

He's a lot better at dealing with the hooligans than I am...

[ naoto can only watch in amazement. also a little surprise. now he wants an indeedee. they look so cute. ]

Thanks, Kazuki!! [ he manages after getting out of his shock. ] That thing wouldn't shut up!

[Sebastian would love to hear it. He might run this inn more than Kazuki actually did. Sure, it was what his species practically lived for, but he worked hard!]

You're welcome! I'm sorry Sarge is all tied up, he uh... He's always been obsessed with herding small Pokemon, ever since he was a Null. I've heard they all come with some sort of glitch, and I think this is his.

Pokemon can come with glitches? [ that was news to him. ] It's alright though, I'm not wanting to go anywhere at the moment.

Um, most don't! Silvally evolve from Type: Null, and they're man-made Pokemon, so glitches happen sometimes. Oh, and Porygon too! If you ever hear a dial-up noise randomly, that's probably my Porygon, Chip.

He's, uh, always on the fritz. But he means well.

Oh, that explains that... [ he supposes it adds to their charm. ] Well, as long as the glitch doesn't hurt anyone it's okay, right?

Yeah, they're both harmless. Especially Sarge. Since I'm not a trainer, they had to tweak him a bit so he can't gain levels or battle before they let me adopt him through the rescue program.

Ohhh, that makes sense. [ a hum. ] Are those adoptions a once in a year kinda thing or...?

Nope, they're open all year long! They did have an adoption drive not too long ago, but that was just a special thing to get some attention.

But if you're a trainer, I think you need badges before you can qualify. Like... Four? Six? Something like that. But then the Null you get will still be able to battle, and I've heard they're really strong.

[ hearing all the restrictions made naoto sigh. great. ]

Can't exactly do that when I'm bedridden, huh. Fuuuun.

[Kazuki suppressed a laugh, but his face was still mirthful.]

Sorry. You must be super bored. Can I help at all?

Eh, I'm alright, so to speak. The Zorua are providing nice entertainment!

Well, I'm glad somebody's seeing some kind of benefit... They're about to make Sarge short-circuit.

You're welcome!! [ not even remotely ashamed, huh, naoto? ] But is Sarge going to be okay?

[Okay, that you're welcome gets a chuckle out of Kazuki.]

He'll be fine. If he keeps going like this, he'll need to stop and recharge eventually. And the swarm won't last forever. Hopefully.

That 'hopefully' doesn't give me much hope, Hihara-san...

I mean, they always do! One or two might stick around, but normally, it should resolve itself in a day or two.

Then it shouldn't be that bad... [ a hum. ] Do you think they'd help me get around if I asked?

I dunno! Maybe if you caught one, or made friends? Ghost Types can really tricky though. I've only got one myself.
