Who: Harry and whoever comes across him

Harry has been in Hisui for a week so far and it has been mostly uneventful besides getting chased by angry wild Pokémon while doing mushroom, leek, and firewood gathering. Nevertheless, he and Lily (his Rowlet) manage to slowly grow together as a team and they are able to make some new friends along: by friends, they mean an Eevee who wasn’t afraid of Harry despite being too close while he was foraging for mushrooms at Obsidian Fieldlands and a ‘too curious for his own good’ Hisuian Growlithe he met while he was observing coastal Pokémon at Cobalt Coastlands and accidentally brought along with him back to base camp.

Then reports of a strange Pokémon called Bronzor begin to pop up that the Gingko Guild decided to assign him a mission to observe them at Coronet Highlands’ Stonetooth Row. Harry does have experience with magical creatures back at home, so he is not afraid to get as close as he could to see them, but he never expects to play Newt Scamander to the Bronzor until now. But hey, he gets to do something really important for base camp. So he, Lily, Violet the Eevee, and Godric the Hisuian Growlithe take the journey to Stonetooth Row and begin their quest of looking into the Bronzor’s behavior. Carefully taking his small team to a nearby bush in order not to scare off the mirror looking Pokémon, Harry settles down and begins to jot down anything he can see and find with them.

For every observation he can find, he carefully writes it down on his notebook with Lily taking to the tree tops and the sky to check on the Bronzor who are out of his sight and relaying what she has seen from her side. Violet is currently napping beside him, and Godric, well, he is too busy chasing his tail to amuse himself. Lily returns from her third flight scan of the Bronzor, hooting in what she is able to see.

“Ah, I see. The Bronzor have a plant on their back, I wonder what they are for in the first place,” he gladly takes note as he writes that down.

"A growlithe huh..?" Though his tone says familiarity, Emporio's mild state of unfamiliarity still manages to make itself known as he looks to Godric. While he smiles, he gives a whispery, nervous laugh. "I'm still getting used to how they look here honestly...in Kanto and Johto, growlithe don't have all that fur over their eyes- I guess it never had to grow that long in those regions..."

He's not letting out his own pokemon quite yet- not until they're properly out of range of these bronzor anyway. They just wouldn't help much sadly.

“So they have a counterpart in Jotho and Kanto who don’t have their eyes obscured by their fur?” Harry is intrigued by the concept of Pokémon having different forms, “Yeah, I do notice that if he had been born in either region, Godric would’t have that fur on his head.”

Harry is still amazed by how these Bronzor are able to do anything despite looking like floating mirror with no limbs to speak. If he can make a guess, he would definitely think that it is magic at work if the herb symbol is of any indication.

"Right- they're only fire type too. They don't have a second typing," Emporio adds with a small laugh. It fades though, and he frowns not long after. "It's...sad to think about, actually. With most of the regional pokemon I've seen, they're still...there. ...but the ones here are just from the 'past'. There aren't any pokemon exactly like them in the future, anymore."

“So wait a minute, the regional Pokémon in Hisui may have not lived in the present time?” Harry could have sworn that his jaws dropped upon hearing Emporio’s sad lament on the state of past regional Pokémon, “Oh gee, that is a really sad thought to think about.”

Emporio shakes his head. "I visited Sinnoh- that's what they call this country in the future- but while we're in the same area that I was then, there wasn't even a mention of those pokemon..." Chewing his lip a little, he carries on. "They might still exist in another country, but it's been pretty hard to get that kind of information honestly. It took a lot for the trip to Sinnoh to even happen, and that's just another region of the same country here."

Harry quietly nods in agreement as Emporio speaks about Hisui’s modern version and how there was no mention about the regional Pokémon who exist in Hisui (for now) and possibly more Pokémon having different forms in other places. For a while, he sort of forgot about the Bronzor as he listens to him, although he does have more than enough information gathered for the Gingko Guild.

“The other countries in this world have regionals forms too?” he asks out of curiosity, “I guess that Hisui may not be the only place with regional forms after all.”

"They do-! It's something that happens naturally, over time really..."

Emporio is, if anything, really great at sharing information. It might not necessarily be the information anyone needs, but he can at least share it.

"For example, there's the marowak of Alola- the cubone and marowak line is normally ground type, but Alola has a lot of grass pokemon, so they were starting to die out. To adapt, cubone began to evolve into a fire type variation, with traits of ghost pokemon as well."

“Wow, that sounds really amazing,” Harry smiles in relief, “Maybe I might run into some of them someday. They seem to be really interesting to encounter in Alola.”

Violet finally perks her ears up as she slowly wakes up from her nap. She has been rejuvenated from the nap and she spots Emproio that she decides to greet him with a happy yip.

“Ei-vuu, Eivuu!”

"They're around Sevii islands I think...I wasn't there very long, but they're pretty tropical. Alola is...well, it's like Hawaii from what I hear? ...either way it's a whole other country so we can't really visit..."

It's a shame, but that's just how it is. At any rate, Emporio is successfully distracted from their careful walk and talk to get away from the bronzor, by a now waking Violet.

Awwwwwwwww. "Oh! ....Hello..~"

“Ei-vui!” Violet happily smiles back at him with a wide grin on her face.

“Well, it looks like somebody is finally awake from her nap time,” Harry chuckles upon seeing Violet now and about, “My Eevee is very happy to find some new friends today: she has been napping for a few hours now.”

"Awww...Have you had her for really long? Oh- I guess it might be safe to bring out my own pokemon to meet you too...uhhh..."

He takes a pokeball out from his pouch, and then pauses to squint at it.

After a moment he sighs. "...Well, I guess Confetti is right here actually..."

The pokeball blinks- and then blinks again in Violet's direction. Huh!

...Weren't these supposed to be larger?

“Yeah, I have her, Lily, and Godric for a good while now, even though I have been in Hisui for a week,” Harry replies to him when he soon sees a Voltorb coming out of the Pokéball.

“Ee-vui! Vui-vui!” Violet greets the Pokéball looking Pokémon while Lily and Godric follow after her lead.

“Oh wow, this one looks really amazing,” he tells Emporio, he too couldn’t resit noticing how similar Confetti looks like to a Pokéball, “Confetti looks very wonderful and round.”

"It's pretty amazing, yeah...! He can even spit confetti out of his head, the way the pokeballs react when you catch something. Right now he's shrunk down...But normally he's actually as big as Violet! And....mmmm..."

Carefully, and a little awkwardly, he rests Confetti up on his cap. The pokemon seems not to mind this, instead looking around at everyone with a wide eyed look of curiosity from their strange view point.

Emporio meanwhile digs out another- rather, an actual pokeball, dropping it down to release the pokemon inside.

Out comes something purple, and yawning.

"There- I caught her only a little while ago...but she's apparently a 'Hisuian Sneasel'- I thought it was really neat, because Sneasel are known for being from another region as well...but it was this region, in the future, where their evolved form was first recorded. But that evolution? It's completely different from what they evolve into here! And their appearance and typing is the one from another region instead of the typing and appearance they have now..!"

The sneasel- not properly introduced yet- blearily looks toward Violet and the others. After a moment, she simply scratches her nose and sniffs.

That's probably a hello. Maybe.

Godric happily barks as he looks at the Sneasel with his head craned while Lily and Violet graciously greets her in a polite manner.

“Oh wow, she looks pretty brilliant!” Harry looks at her in amazement, “So her kind does have a different typing and appearance compared to her counterparts in the other region? That is a lot similar to Godric and his kind too. I wonder what would she look like when she evolves someday.”

“Growl, Growlithe, Growl,” the goofy Growlithe barks at the Sneasel as if he is trying to ask her to play with him, to which Lily and Violet giggle in bemusement.

"Right? Her line is apparently fighting and poison type...but sneasels from modern day were all black, with red at the one ear, and were dark and ice type instead. I guess they had to adjust to more toxic surroundings in this time?"

The sneasel gives another sneeze, and then studies Godric a little blankly. Sneasels aren't really made for playing, or so the impression is, but she doesn't push him away either. Instead-

"...Sneee." She approaches, one clawed paw raised. What's she up to? She doesn't look hostile...

“That is pretty brilliant typing for her. The other Sneasel variant also has an amazing typing too. Yeah, I might be considering that possibilit too. It could be possible that there is a lot of toxic areas within this area,” Harry muses on Emporio’s Sneasel’s typing.

“Growlithe!” Godric happily and goofily barks to her, his tongue panting about like the goofball that he is.

“Ei-vui?” Violet asks Godric out of curiosity, uncertain of what the Sneasel is going to do next.

"The mirelands were definitely bad...it wasn't anything corrosive exactly," Emporio admits, "But a lot of the mud there was literally boiling..."

He turns as the pokemon sounds attract his attention, and blinks. "Uh... ...Stoat..?"

'Stoat', as she's not so creatively named, gently brings the claw closer...and closer...

...And starts combing Godric's bangs.

"..............Oh... ...I guess she's...grooming him..?"

The start of a friendship, probably.

“Awww, look at her combing through Godric’s mane. He in enjoying it quite a lot from the look of things,” Harry notices the way Stoat is playing with his Growlithe’s fur bangs.

“Growl!” Godric happily barks at the idea of her petting his mane, he really likes it a lot.

“Rowlet, Row,” Lily is even more amused upon seeing her teammate getting a good grooming treatment from Stoat.

“Eivui, vui,” Violet squeaks in relief.

"Wow...I've never seen her do this kind of thing..!" Emporio cheers quietly, not wanting to startle the sneasel. "...I mean...Confetti is kind of a wooden ball, so I guess there wasn't anything to groom...but it's really nice..!"

Confetti, for their part, just sort of wobbles a bit on Emporio's hat. Yes, Emporio, they are still up here.

"BrrRSSZztt~"

It's fine though, it's cool up here.

“Growl, Growlithe!” Godric’s tail wags about as he happily takes in Stoat’s mane grooming session. Violet has her attention towards the wooden ball like Pokémon sitting on Emporio’s hat and she happily greets it in a soft enthusiastic voice. She doesn’t want the Bronzor to flee from their eyesight by her voice.

“Confetti looks like it’s having a time of its life,” Harry admits to Emporio while Lily flies again to check on the Bronzor and gather more info.

Confetti, blinking down at Violet, gives a cheerful little burst of explosive 'paper' slips.

"You're right about that..~ A lot of people seem to think it's hard to read them, but I think they make it pretty clear..."

The boy trails off, watching as Lily flies over to peek at the Bronzor.

"I wish I could offer more advice about those guys... ...I can share basics, since they're definitely the same physically, but..."

Well, there's perhaps a reason the job still has to be done after all.

“Oh sure, you can tell me what you have known of them. I am still trying to gather as much as I can about the Bronzor,” Harry readily accepts the offer of help as he gets some brief looks at the floating mirror like Pokémon.

Lily meanwhile flies around to see what the Broznor are doing at the moment. Scanning for any behavior, habit, or ability, she observes them like a hawk (despite being an owl Pokémon) and mentally lists down them for her Trainer to write down on paper.

"Alright!" Well in that case he'll do his best. Hopefully between the two of them Harry can hand in a full report.

"It came up before, but Bronzor are Steel/Psychic type- most would assume that because of how they float, they can't be affected by ground type moves though- which is something they're otherwise weak to. But that's only some. If Bronzor has an ability called 'Levitate', then it'll avoid those kinds of attacks. But some Bronzor can have another ability, called 'Heatproof'. This doesn't make them immune to fire, but it does halve the damage, which is important for them; that's normally another weakness they have. It's pretty handy, and normally in the wild it makes it pretty easy to find out which one they have."

He can certainly say more, just say the word.

“Oh wow, that is pretty interesting. I was stuck for a moment on how they’re able to float and manage to avoid several attacks. And I don’t see that many Steel types have that ability compared to Bronzor. Very impressive for a Steel Pokémon,” Harry agrees as he writes down what Emporio has known of the Bronzor.

"The floating is definitely because of their psychic typing...'Levitate' is something a lot of psychic type pokemon have, actually. The Bronzor line though is definitely popular- when it evolves it's really durable, and can take a lot of damage in a fight before it really falters."
