Surfing Swarm!
[The video feed opens with Radley filming as he goes outside on his property to see what some of his Pokemon are exclaiming about. He almost drops the PokeGear when he sees.]
What the ... ?!??!!!
[Pikachu and Alolan Raichu are surfing in the pond.]
Just ... how?!??!
[Evie makes an exclamation of delight and runs over to the shore.]
Evie! Evie, no! Come back!
[Evie has already leaped onto the surf board to ride with Raichu. She warbles in delight.
Radley slaps his forehead.]
Oh gosh. Evie!
[He's terrified of Electric types attacking him, but he's more afraid of them getting mad and hurting Evie. He watches for a moment, tense, but they seem friendly and welcoming to her being there. Seeing that, he keeps filming the video, but it's probably shaky until his hands stop shaking.]
So ... I'm not gonna antagonize these guys. But ... what do I do about this? How are they even surfing in my pond?!
[A crowd is starting to gather outside the property fence, enjoying the show. Seeing this, Radley ponders. If Evie's not in danger, and people like this, maybe it can turn to his advantage. Maybe he can subtly hint at the crowd getting some food to eat while watching the entertainment.]
... They are pretty skilled at what they do. I have to say I'm impressed. Anyone wanna drop by and see this in person?

Re: Video
[Pause.]
What is a shiny?
Re: Video
Re: Video
[If so then it must be a rare creature, since everyone's taking aim at it.
A thought pops into his head. What if the reason why so many are leaving emptyhanded is because they all want the shiny? That, instead of settling for the others, which are just as good, they decide to get the one most people will never see, let alone catch, in their lifetime.
Keldor frowns a little. He knows what it's like to be singled out for how you look [although the reason why he was and it is are vastly different]. The poor Raichu must be feeling the same way.]
I believe I have a strategy.
Re: Video
Re: Video
[He might not be talking very loudly, but who knows what might be overheard by the others in the queue?]
Re: Video
I look forward to it.
Re: Video
He gives it a good throw, but the 'chu just backflips and sends it clear out of the park.]
Was that your only ball? [a Jenny asks.]
Yeh.
Then it's time to let someone else have a turn.
Awww c'mon! That ain't fair! Someone! Please give me a ball? I'll pay double!
[No takers. Naturally.]
A shame, friend. Perhaps your luck will be improved for the next time.
Awwww shuddup! I can't take yer fancy talkin' no more!
[Rude Guy leaves. Noisily.
Some people, amirite?]
You've got enough balls?
I should hope so.
Then good luck.
[Deleted/posted new comment.]
Re: Video
Yeah, good luck!
Re: Video
He steps forward, watching the various 'mons zip about the pond. Particularly the darker one. The one he feels a bit of sympathy for for being everyone's target today.
The one he'd like to get for himself.
Studying the way it moves, he notices that it always turns a certain way when dodging any pokeball thrown at it. A short, sharp turn either to the left or the right.
Something it seems no one else has noticed or taken advantage of.
The person to his left throws. The Raichu dodges. Then the one on the right. Another dodge. The person on his right is readying another ball. Judging from the way they throw he can guess which trajectory the ball will take.
Throw.
Dodge.
Now!
The ball sails through the air, in the direction he hopes the Raichu will turn in. Since it doesn't turn towards the shore if it's close to it, his aim sends the ball out towards the middle of the pond. Where the Raichu does turn towards.
Surprised, it tries to turn yet again, but momentum carries it towards the ball that opens up and pulls the hapless 'mon inside.
Of course, getting it inside the ball is one thing. Keldor's been here just long enough to know that not every capture is successful. But he doesn't need to worry; the rodent's probably still too surprised to break free.
One of the Jennies, who is seated in a boat, paddles towards Keldor's ball to retrieve it for him. With so many electric types surfing the pond it would be unwise to let trainers go and get them themselves.]
Here you go, sir. Congratulations!
Thank you.
[He's heading towards the crowd that's still watching the events unfold, with a few people muttering about how some people have all the luck.
More like, all the brains.]
[Long comment is long.]Re: Video
Hey, congratulations!
Re: Video
Thank you. With it I should hopefully defeat Falkner for his gym badge.
[Or maybe defeat the gym trainees during a level-grinding session. That works too.]
Re: Video
[In the background, the crowds cheers as the surfers in Radley's pond make some more wild moves.]
Re: Video
[It's Keldor's turn to watch now.]
These never cease to amaze me with how remarkable they are.
Re: Video
[Radley nods.]
I'm glad they're not aggressive. They just wanna have fun, apparently.
Re: Video
That is a rather interesting thing they are doing. I have never seen it before.
[Pause.]
Well. No. I have, but it was done through the air, not over the water, and with much smaller devices than theirs.
[They also had an engine, but if they were a form of air transport, that should be obvious.]
Re: Video
[He can kind of picture it, having grown up with a cartoon where a character did cloud-surfing.]
Re: Video
Re: Video
Re: Video
Re: Video
Re: Video
[Imagine zipping through the air on something only somewhat bigger than the seat of a large barstool.
It's really good for separating the daredevils from the scaredy-cats.]
Re: Video
Re: Video
[Keldor isn't, and even if he were, Miro wouldn't accept that his son might be legitimately afraid of something like that.]
What these pokemon are doing reminds me of disk riders. But on water, not in the air.

Someone mentioned that to me once. Was it you?
