Summary: Keldor's last few days in Violet City

Log: Now that Keldor's won his first gym badge, there really isn't a lot left for him to do in Violet City, save for some serious, last-minute power-training of his pokemon [and shopping for cold weather clothing]. Just about everything that could be done here has been done.

Except visit the Ruins of Alph.

According to his research, there are some Fairy and Steel types roaming what's left of the ancient civilisation, and that's what's got him out here on this Saturday afternoon. So far he's managed to find himself a Spritzee and a Bronzor, and is currently trying to catch a Klefki, but there's one little problem...

THUD!

That.

It's the fourth time it's happened. Keldor has somehow managed to trip over ... something, but when he looks around, he sees nothing about him that could've tripped him. And it doesn't help that the ruins aren't really properly lit. At least in this section anyways.

This is starting to get annoying, and his Klefki is about to get away, too.

Well. Today's the day.

Keldor's currently in the Pokemon Center [he'd just been to the Mart to stock up on supplies] at the computer, going over all the pokemon he's currently got. Tomorrow he sets off for Route 32 and Azalea Town, but it's gonna be a hike, and as there are no places to heal up in-between, which pokemon to take with you is important. Strong enough to not require too much patching up, but not so strong as to kill everything you encounter while en-route, either we do want to catch a few things along the way, after all.

Keldor decides that his Hisuian Growlithe, Asama, meets the criteria for "strong, but not too strong", and that Kishiko the Goldeen can come, too, as she isn't "too strong" either.

As for the rest of the party, it's gonna be the lower-leveled 'mons who get picked, but he doesn't know which ones to choose, as he has several of them.

But whatever decision he makes, he'd better do it before nightfall and the Crobats start to come out looking to nom on anything they can get their teeth into. 'Cause that would be bad.

Radley smiles. Yes, any Pokemon are lucky to have a kind trainer like Keldor.

His Pokemon nuzzle him, happy for the Stantler and happy for themselves too.

Not that kind of trainer...

His words echo in his mind. There are plenty of people he's encountered in his life who he knows would be a terrible trainer. Like Marzo. This poor thing would already be subject to whatever the wizard could come up with.

Thankfully he's not here.

"I've done what I can do here. But I'll have to take it to the centre to properly heal it. Can you carry it to our van?"

"Yes."

"Be gentle."

"I shall be quite gentle."

He scoops it up, then carries it outside to where the van is, and sets it down in the back.

"Thanks for helping it."

"It is no trouble."

"Well, it looks like this adventure is wrapping up," he says in relief. "Are you going back there?"

"I still have not caught my Klefki," he points out as the van pulls out and drives away. Keldor hasn't forgotten what he's after. "But after I find one, then this day will be over."

[crystalmaster]

"Well, good luck," Radley says. Maybe the Klefki will have seen the good deed and want to come.

The Klefki. Or maybe another pokemon has seen and has told the others.

Like maybe the Natu? Surely it would spread the word out that the guy who'd been roaming the ruins is a good person and would make a good trainer for anyone.

Keldor doesn't get very far before the green feather ball is flapping in his face.

"Gyah!"

"Natuuuuuuuuu!"

It wants you to follow.

"Very well. Show me what you want me to see."

Radley jumps, but then smiles.

"Eevee-vee!" says Evie.

It's just down this passageway, but at the end of it there's not one Klefki. There's several. Waiting for him. As soon as they see him they start dancing in the air about him excitedly. Like each one wants him to pick them.

"I cannot take all of you! Just one!"

"Klllllefffff..," they all say sadly.

"I am sorry. But. There are other good trainers to be found."

"Kleffff?"

"Yes. Until then, though, only one of you may come."

At that they cluster together, as though to deliberate.

Then they separate.

One floats forward.

"Klleffffff?"

"You wish to come with me?"

"Klef! Ki! Klef klef klef ki!"

"Alright. You may come."

"Awww, that's really sweet," Radley smiles.

"Eevee-vee!" Evie exclaims happily. Although she thinks it's too bad they can't all come. What fun that would be!

Radley laughs, watching her tail waving.

One quick search for a pokeball, and the Klefki is captured.

That's got to be the easiest capture Keldor's done yet.

"Kllleeffffff ... kiiiiii..," they all say, sadly, watching a friend go, but knowing it'll be treated well.

"Perhaps I shall visit this place again should I ever travel this way."

"Kleeefff? Kleffffkiiiii!"

Bring your new friend, too!

"Congratulations," Radley smiles.

Evie is jumping up and down. "Eevee-vee! Eevee!"

"Thank you." Then, to the Klefki: "I shall be seeing you and, with luck, soon. Good journey, friends."

The other Klefki look puzzled at the expression, and Keldor chuckles.

"There is no 'goodbye' where I come from; only 'good journey'."

Ah. Now they get it.

"Klef! Ki ki ki! Klefki!"

And now that he's got what he came for, it's time for him to go.

Radley smiles. A successful day at last.

"So, how did you like the ruins overall?" he curiously wondered. "Another friend wasn't too impressed, but then, he went more for research."

"It appears to be a good place to find a new pokemon," he begins. He hadn't really thought about doing a proper explore, what with catching pokemon foremost on his mind, but now that he's done that...

"I would not mind conducting my own research."

He's a scholarly type and some ancient ruins are just the sort of thing to catch his interest. You can be sure he'll be back to help study them.

"Yeah, there's sure a lot there," Radley muses.

He smiles. "I'm curious myself on what else we might find out. It must hold more secrets somewhere."

[behindblueskin]

"Secrets you say? I should be most interested in helping uncover them."

Nothing like an opportunity to discover some arcane secret or other.

[crystalmaster]

"Hopefully there are some," Radley says. But he really thinks there will be.

[behindblueskin]

"Oh I am sure there will be."

And if he enjoys the research enough, he just might make a career out of it.

[crystalmaster]

Radley would probably just have it as a hobby. "Are you gonna try that out soon or come back to it later?"

"I believe I will return later, should my curiosity not consume me and bring me back before then."

Got a trip to Azalea Town to take.

[crystalmaster]

"Cool. So you're heading to the next town then?"

One of these days he'll go there. Probably.

"You'll have to go through Union Cave to get there."

He could take the circuitous route and go through Goldenrod in order to avoid another cave, but that would take too long.

"And that is why I purchased several light sources to help me find my way should it turn out to be dark inside."

And batteries. Never forget the batteries. Very important.

"I'm sure it will be," Radley said. "Well, I hope it's a good trip for you."

It will be, provided no actual "tripping" is involved.

"And a somewhat long one. I do hope I acquired the right items for cold weather travel."

Oh, the things he didn't think about while on the sleeping bag tour of Eternia.

"What did you find?" Radley asks. He would probably know if it was right.
