Pardon me. [ While the feed is imperfect due to the lowered angle, it remains steady despite the uncertainty present in her voice and mannerisms. Teach this girl how to take a selfie and she'll be a master of them easily enough with a grip this steady.

Camera issues aside, there's something she needs to address which is why she's taken for calling for advice. ] Earlier in the day, I received instruction to begin my journey by leaving this town and to head for the next via Route 29. Each time I approach the outskirts of New Bark Town however my companion refuses to let me pass.

[ By knocking her straight on her butt each time. She clears her throat a little, unaware of how much the microphone picks up. It's embarrassing to have to confess to being outwitted by a creature, but she doesn't want to fight it. Not without her bow or her magic, both of which have been denied to her in this foreign country. ]

He seems more interested in splashing about in the water near the coast rather than accompanying me on my travels, yet each time I try to leave him behind... [ Same thing. It's as if he's acting out or possibly is trying to convey some other message that she's yet to pick up on. ] Do they mean for them to be so difficult?

[ Others seem to be getting along better with their partners by comparison. It's a little discouraging but she doesn't allow for it to knock her down. That's for the Dratini to do. ] If you have any instruction on this matter, I would like to hear of it. Thank you. [ Click!

In the meantime... she's going to continue to try to take Route 29 out of New Bark Town and continue to be denied by her partner. It doesn't look that dangerous up ahead, so what's the matter? ]

[Ochako isn't looking for her - or anyone in particular - but it's hard to miss some lady getting knocked over by a blue... snakey... serpent thing. Cute or not, it apparently attacked this woman, so she's rushing to the scene to intervene, armed with... her adorable, fluffy Swablu. Yeah, real threatening.]

[ Only a little less threatening than the glimmering water snake tbh. ] My companion is proving to be stubborn about our journey.

[ The Dratini turns his little snout up as if to insist otherwise but doesn't make a sound. He knows what he's doing. She clearly does not. ]

Perhaps I have angered him in some manner...

[At least the snake is bigger than a foot tall?]

Oh! That's your partner! [Ochako breathes a little sigh of relief. She was worried she was about to have her first pokemon battle rescuing this lady from a vicious... doe-eyed plushy snake monster?]

I'm glad you're not in trouble but... you two aren't getting along? What made him attack like that?

[ Just look into those big beady eyes. ] Of this I remain unsure.

[ He had been pretty pleasant until she headed for the exit of the town. ]

He was enjoying the water a little earlier in the day. [ Maybe this is his way of retaliating because they stopped playing there? ]

[ The Pokeball itself seems unnatural to her but much of this world is foreign. Was it common to keep their creatures imprisoned in such a tiny container? ]

Yes, he is a Dratini. [ Lifting her head up a bit with that. ] Is this a part of their personality? I wasn't aware they could be playful in this manner.

Ah, not necessarily, though, although they are generally an aquatic species. Most likely he simply enjoys playing, in that case; depending on how you want to approach the matter, you could try anything from letting him tire himself out, to using a strict rules and sense of discipline.

Your starter... ah! Is that the common term for it? [ She's learning so much since leaving her "home" and her "mom", both of which are things she opposes greatly in this world. Her mother is back in her own world and her home is wherever Cecil Harvey may be. ]

Yes, I do still have my Pokeball for it. After releasing it, I thought it not possible for something that size to be uncomfortable for my companion.

[ As if to prove her point, she's turning the PokeGear around to show off the nearly six feet in length flying beast.

Not as buff as a Zangoose but certainly a handful on his own. ]

[Cecil's heart nearly stops when he hears that voice, when he sees that face. He remembers her presence on the moon, of course, just as he remembers her absence upon waking up in Cherrygrove. But after all this time as the only representative of their world, he never imagined those few stolen moments could be a sign of greater happiness to come.

He could laugh. He could cry. He can try to help her with her starter problem, before getting started on everything else.]

...Rosa, tell him that if he behaves and listens to you, he'll have access to any body of water he wishes in this world. That he'll have a beautiful pond in which he can swim every day, with sweets treats whenever he feels hunger. That he'll have plenty of friends to play with, and every HM he might want to learn.

[ All of her worries dissipate instantly upon hearing that sweet voice of her beloved. ] Cecil!

[ Emotion overwhelms her in turn. It hasn't been long at all since they were reunited and exchanged sweet words, yet the reminder of the helplessness she felt during her capture was still a fresh wound. Having occupied herself with both her Pokemon's stubborn personality and information gathering, she no longer has to concern herself with returning to Baron.

Her place is at his side as it should be.

Except he's not here physically and there's no telling where in this foreign world he may be. He may very well be thinking the same so instead of lamenting his absence vocally, she chooses instead to answer his earlier reply. Show to him that she's alright and still brave enough to face the worlds for his sake. ]

I cannot promise those things to him, Cecil. [ It'd be cruel because she's not able to provide them for the Dratini.

Unfortunately, he's already heard and is floating up behind Rosa, looking down at the PokeGear from over her shoulder. Big dragon. Thin, but exceptionally long for his level. ]

[He's moving now, grabbing things offscreen and shoving them in a bag. Rosa is in this world, she's in New Bark Town, she's freshly arrived; cleaning up the rest of the road can wait. Part of him is tempted to leave his belongings behind, to reach her side that much sooner.

At her fastest, Mist could reach the town within an hour. A single hour. He's lived without her presence at his side for years; taking the time to pick up his shoes will not kill him.]

Though he'll have to wait until the routes are cleared to enjoy any of it. Route 29 is dangerous at the moment, but I can bypass the obstacles and reach you from the skies. Will the two of you be fine waiting for the next hour or so?

[A foolish question, as he realizes the moment it leaves his mouth. Nothing in this world could possibly be strong or dangerous enough to harm Rosa, even without her magic and weapon. She'll not need to travel for days with limited supplies, nor will she have to scrounge for funds during her first weeks. He'll see to that.]

Some Pokemon are just jackasses so maybe you got one with an attitude, but for the record, I hear there's some kind of rampaging elephant Pokemon roaming around about where you are.

So maybe, I don't know, sit tight for a bit and your starter will stop freaking out.

[ Elegantly put. While she wouldn't outright call something or someone a jackass, his personality does remind her of someone who was a bit of a jerk at times.

What is an elephant though. ] A rampaging Pokemon?

[ Does that mean there are people in danger? Perhaps she should try to look for a replacement bow and take it down from a distance. ]

If I could find a local weapons shop... [ No one's told her the LAW of the land yet. ]

[She pans her Gear a little to show the commotion that's happening where she is. Little phanpy appear to be roaming wildly while some crazy zubat and golbat were charging around for no reason.]

I think this is happening everywhere.

[ Monsters acting up and behaving differently is a sign that something's afoot. Prior to her arrival here in the world of Pokemon, the wildlife of her world was growing more aggressive. ]

If it's happening everywhere, then the source must be something that can affect the whole region. [ Not even here for a day and she's already trying to determine the source of the agitation. ]

Do you know when it began, Mai?

[ Pause, then a quick gasp. ] I'm Rosa.

[ How could she forget... ]

There was a big party on the moon for everyone.

[Well, as far as Mai could remember there was an invitation to the party. She went, things happened that she couldn't remember and then everybody woke up here.]

Then when we all came back from the party this whole place was a mess. So everyone's trying to help clear up different things. I think it'll work out okay. Things have a funny way of doing that here.
