...I have some time to spare, it seems.

[Well here's a new face, clearly on the Ferry headed for Kanto. She's found a nice secluded deck to sit on. In the background, a galarian meowth is doing laps around this deck at full speed.]

So I'll ask a question while I'm waiting. I'm given to understand there is a great many of these...Pokemon.

[She pauses, and leans back to make a ps-ps-ps at the Meowth, who comes immediately running to gnaw on her hand. It's fine. It's only a little extremely painful. She's fine.]

...How many of them are cats, like this one is?

[SHE NEEDS EVERY SINGLE KITTY.]

It's not like people aren't animals, we just like to tell ourselves we're different because we've dominated our enviroment so. It seems even more arrogant to think we're not here to serve the whims of pokemon, not the other way around, doesn't it?


Egyptians regarded cats as gods. They weren't really that far off...I wonder if the same thing can be said of pokemon?

No, I get that people are animals-- Well, kind of. It's a little more cut and dry where I'm from, because we don't have humans. That's just not a thing. People are ducks and dogs and things like that, but you would never mistake a person who's a duck for a duck animal.

[Louie's still not a fan of explaining that! He really thinks it gives a lot of others the wrong idea of how much a person he is.]

But here? Yeah, I think it makes sense to say that we're here for Pokemon, and that's not even just because one might be what brought us all here. I'm talking about how long I carried Penningar around piggyback when I first got him. No person could get me to do that for them.

Well, certainly, it sounds like there's a different level of developmental differences. Two regular ducks aren't going to give birth to a duck like...yourself, I'm guessing?

[That's interesting. She'd love to run blood tests. But if Louie is the only one like this she doesn't have enough data. Boooo.]

They're smarter than people'd give them credit for...

[She pauses. Looks down at Baal, who has...not a thing going on behind his eyes.] ...Most of them.

Yeah, you're right. Two totally different species, only... Not? I don't know, I never questioned it growing up with that.

[He shrugs.]

You definitely get clever ones, and most of the others will find some way to get what they want from you. Sometimes it's because they're cute, a lot of the time it's because they're stubborn. At least, that's what I've noticed.

If it's not something that has obvious impacts to your life, most people don't ever think about that sort of question. It's largely a taxonimal and philosophical quandry.

[She laughs, and continues scritching baal.]

Well, obviously, I have no reason to refuse their demands in the first place.

Well, yeah, that too. There's no reason to be a jerk to them, but I guess I mean more like... I was never a pet guy. Tried that once, and no. But it's worked out with my Pokemon.
