[ Minfilia had a stern look on her face. (And looked a little tired.) ] Hopefully that's the last of that.
[ She comments, not elaborating. But then, she puts on her usual placid smile. ] May I ask something which may seem strange to many of those here? And that is - are the weeks and days and months the same as where you come from? In my case, they are not - our weeks are eight days, our months thirty-two days. I, of course, expect the years are different - but it has still been a struggle to adapt to seven-day weeks.
...That reminds me, however. Though conversion, I have learned it is my nameday-- birthday within the next week. The 23rd, I believe, is the closest to the date I would celebrate back home.
I have no plans for that day. No - a day off is something to celebrate... especially without seeing a Murkrow or Nicket again. [ Huh. She sounds. Tired. Saying those two Pokemons' names. ]
[[ Also open to action on the 23rd - you can catch her around Goldenrod! I'm still technically on hiatus because of this being a tough month for me, but wanted to get this out and do stuff with it :3c ]]

Voice
Shrike, that's not the most helpful place to start...
"They don't go with the moon at all."

[ She notes the voice, but remains on video. Each side has their comfort! ] I'd ask how it became like this, but I imagine that's a history lesson that would be far too long and not explain enough. A lunar calendar would also be good.

"I don't know how people know what day it is... Is that why there's lots of calendars here?"

[Let's make things more complicated, why not.]
A Murkrow and a Nickit? Did some of your Pokémon cause trouble until they evolved and settled down?
No, they were wild. January was a... wild month.
I'll not argue that, considering... everything, really. You had unplanned repeat visitors, then?

The concept of a calendar made up of weeks and months was not unknown to us in the Junkyard, but we didn't mark time by it. There were no seasons, and almost no practical difference between night and day.
[Lupa shrugs.] We were also not born, nor did we have the concept of celebration or days off. Nameday makes more sense than birthday to me.
[And then a little smile.] What is normally done to celebrate a nameday in your home?
Video
...Not many celebrate like me, but I like knowing the progress we've made in making our star a better place. That, and it's rare nobody is working.
But-- did I hear you correctly? You were not born?
Video
And no names. [A small smile.] So choosing our names could be considered an important thing. Spending that day with others you care about sounds very pleasant.

Your birthday is next week? Oh my goodness! Say, out of - erm, totally unrelated curiosity, but - what kind of cake do you happen to like?
[Jane come on, you're usually better at being more sly about asking such questions!]
[ A little sigh to herself. ] I've actually never had one of them. [ because the nameday cake was introduced in 3.0-- ]
[It isn't a thing Jane's worked with before, but she isn't dissuaded from trying.]
...And then out of curiosity, what does a snurbleberry look like? I'm afraid that's not something we have where I'm from - nor do I think they exist here.
[When Jane realizes it's just a really big and lovely strawberry-decorated cake she's going to have so much fun.]

[But in hindsight it makes sense. Different worlds, different solar systems. Kinda funny how it never crossed his mind before.]
Can't say I blame you, though. All the mental math's gotta be a nightmare to deal with. Guess it's just one of those things the rest of us take for granted.

[ She jests. ] Thankfully, mine is quite similar to the one here - I cannot even consider adapting to a land with a different method of measuring time.

It seems I will not be able to do what I'd love to do, at the very least.
[ yes she is implying she'd love to maim him for her nameday c: After all, she knows what he is now. ]
