[ Minfilia had a stern look on her face. (And looked a little tired.) ] Hopefully that's the last of that.

[ She comments, not elaborating. But then, she puts on her usual placid smile. ] May I ask something which may seem strange to many of those here? And that is - are the weeks and days and months the same as where you come from? In my case, they are not - our weeks are eight days, our months thirty-two days. I, of course, expect the years are different - but it has still been a struggle to adapt to seven-day weeks.

...That reminds me, however. Though conversion, I have learned it is my nameday-- birthday within the next week. The 23rd, I believe, is the closest to the date I would celebrate back home.

I have no plans for that day. No - a day off is something to celebrate... especially without seeing a Murkrow or Nicket again. [ Huh. She sounds. Tired. Saying those two Pokemons' names. ]

That seems to be part of it - and their machines tend to tell them.

"Yeah! I always have to look to see what day it is."

Part of that might also be due to how different the system is rather than its complexity, but even so.

[ A thought. ] Do you not count the days?

[fayblood]

"Um, usually? But it's weird having to just count all the days and remember what number you're on without being able to just check from the moon..."

He's from a place that uses a pretty old-fashioned system that doesn't require as much calendar tracking, apparently.

[ There's a pause, but then she smiles again. ] Often, 'tis easy to tell from how others act, is it not? For on the weekends there is often a quietness.

[fayblood]

Oh, she thought he meant days of the week, rather than month. Though granted, when using lunar months the two are often closely related anyway.

"The weeks being seven days is weird but a lot of the time you have to know the day of the month too."

You know, so that your planned shopping day doesn't fall on a public holiday when stores are closed, that sort of thing.

That's true... may I ask something? Is the technology level in this land strange to you as well?

[fayblood]

"You mean like the Pokégear and everything? There isn't anything like that where I was from..."

Granted, Shrike kind of came from the boonies, but even so.

"Yes, exactly. But also... the teleporters, the common electricity - it's quite overwhelming, isn't it?"

[fayblood]

"Oh, the electricity is really weird!" He actually sounds... kind of excited about this? "They have all these wires like metal strings and ropes for it to go through, and then machines can use it for lots of different things. It's like enchantments using magic except it isn't magecraft at all!"

Nerd Mode has been activated, apparently.

She can't help but smile internally and sound pleased at the nerdery. It reminds her of...

"It's quite similar to magic, isn't it? And it's a lot less dangerous then the methods used where I come from - even if I know little about them. I wonder if electricity can be used to make Airships fly... after all, the devices we speak though do not need to be connected to the wall."

A beat. "If they're rare here, it's likely because of Pokemon. Who'd need an airship when you can work together with allied creatures?"

[fayblood]

"I heard there's machines that can fly here, but I dunno how they work..."

He finds the concept that was described to him fascinating though, especially since apparently no magic is involved. Not that he has any problem with riding his Pokemon, of course, but the idea of heavier than air flying machines is just, well, it's a wild thought, okay?

[prayreturn]

"I imagine it's different - perhaps it'll show up sometime! I'm certain I'd love to fly in one. Airships are... they're amazing. I don't quite understand how they work fully, but they soar though the skies quite commonly."

[fayblood]

"Oh, there was--is airships like boats on balloons where you're from? They had some of those here once."

It was for prom, Shrike got to ride on them!
