[ Minfilia had a stern look on her face. (And looked a little tired.) ] Hopefully that's the last of that.

[ She comments, not elaborating. But then, she puts on her usual placid smile. ] May I ask something which may seem strange to many of those here? And that is - are the weeks and days and months the same as where you come from? In my case, they are not - our weeks are eight days, our months thirty-two days. I, of course, expect the years are different - but it has still been a struggle to adapt to seven-day weeks.

...That reminds me, however. Though conversion, I have learned it is my nameday-- birthday within the next week. The 23rd, I believe, is the closest to the date I would celebrate back home.

I have no plans for that day. No - a day off is something to celebrate... especially without seeing a Murkrow or Nicket again. [ Huh. She sounds. Tired. Saying those two Pokemons' names. ]

Not really. If one has enough money, they can take a break whenever they want, I suppose. But I don't tend to want to.

So... Wait, how does that work? [He furrows his brow.] Do you mean you can just take vacation time whenever?

I believe that if you ask for it, you should get it? I... my organization is very lax with days off, unless there is a major threat.

Then again, most of the people I manage overwork themselves.

So you can take days off, but you don't really want them...

[Doppio ponders this for a moment before he nods, his expression brightening.]

You and your subordinates must be real pros!

We are. We work as a group, and do what others might not want to do - or what politics might get in the way of.

[ She sounds so proud!! ]

[epitaffio]

[... Politics, huh?]

Sounds like your organization was a pretty big deal.

[He's kind of wondering how much he and Minfilia have in common, but that's the kind of thing he can't ask openly, by virtue of what it means.]

It was. [ She seems a little guarded, quite suddenly, as she talks. ] We handled things that others wouldn't. Important things. Even if we were being thrust into the spotlight more then I'd like.

You can't move as openly when people know.

[That's definitely fishy... in the exact way that tells Doppio he won't be able to dig deeper just by asking. Instead, he nods and says:]

Now that sounds tough. You think maybe your boss just didn't know what it was like to be on the field?

[prayreturn]

[ Oh, that gets her to look a bit serious. ]

I am the boss. Though... 'tis true, I had to stay back and manage everybody a lot more then I'd like.
