Okay. So. [Reaching down, IV lifts a curious-looking Meowth kitten up into the sight of the camera.] This is Not my Cat.

He’s literally not my cat, but he thinks he is, or whatever else cat logic that equals making himself at home in my traveling bag means that I also ought to feed and entertain him now.

Recently not my cat has started to pelt me with small change -- is that f- I mean, is that normal? It looks like it's grabbing that amulet or whatever it has first and then poing! Always straight in my face!


[He gives Not His Cat an accusatory stare that gets met with the feline version of a :3 face. Can you blame such a cute face? It's definitely planning another coin attack and when to best spring it on its human.

Sighing, IV sets the kitten down.]


I'm also looking for anybody who'd be interested in hunting for pokemon together. It's recently ...been brought to my notice that only having one that's truly capable of fighting might not be a good thing, so any help or advice on how to build a good team would be worth gold.

That would be Pay Day. All Meowths learn that. It can be converted to pokédollars. The conversion rate is fairly decent...

Why... don't you give it a real name rather than calling it "Not My Cat?"

[IV never cared to look into the specifics of the pokemon he didn't have so far, and when he did he got quickly overwhelmed by the sheer wealth of information out there and decided that he'd much rather do the learn by doing approach ...until he got owned by a kitten, of course.]

It is? That's ....useful, at least, I guess. But do they have to do that while aiming at you? It nearly hit my eye last time!

[Which is a severe attack that combines insult with injury, you know!]

And I'm not naming it! If I give it a name that furry bastard will get the wrong idea and think that it owns me for real!

It sort of goes all over the place until they're able to focus the attack a bit more. Unless it's mischievous. Then it might be doing it on purpose.

The Meowth has already imprinted on you. You could always trade it though if you don't want it.

The projectile change is normal, though. It's called "Pay Day", and it's their signature move. It's not a lot, but it's a good way to save up cash. Though normally I would think they'd be aiming it at other Pokemon rather than their trainer.

[He growls, but the anger doesn't reach his eyes. IV is self-aware enough to know that he's set himself up for some teasing with his cat problems.]

Mm... I'd probably just chalk it up to their personality. Not every cat is the same, after all, and maybe yours just so happens to be a mischievious one. In which case, all you can really do is try to train them out of the habit.

[He's definitely already arguing with not his cat as if it were his cat after all. But then, it's IV. He'll argue with anything when he feels like it.]

...how do you do that? I only ever had a dog before. Are cats even trainable?

It's not really. I just learned how to do it and be good in it out of neccessity.

[It actually sort of is, but he doesn't want Monsoon to know about that. IV's a natural-born entertainer, but there's a big difference whether he can do it on his own conditions or not.]

It's not. I have no clue how or why it got into my bag in the first place, but I'm very much a dog person, you know!

[which is why he's currently tolerating the kitten climbing all over him. IV can be a right sadistic bastard to his fellow humans, but he's refused to cross the line of being mean to animals so far. At least unless they asked for it first.]

I don't know what to tell you, kid. Sometimes Pokemon just decide who they want to be their trainer, and we don't get any say in it.

Pay Day is highly useful; I taught it to one of my Pokemon via TM, and she is always happy to demonstrate. Although I'll admit she doesn't ever do it by hitting me in the face!

[Having to adjust to sob being poor, Chazz could definitely go for a Pokémon that just handed him cash. That was when the wheels started to turn and he decided he should be taking a different tactic.]

Unfortunately, general consent seems to be that it already imprinted on me and that there's nothing that I can do about it -- besides convincing it somehow that there are better targets for its coin-tossing antics than my face.

It's also just the money equivalent of 1 and 5 yen coins so far, so there's no real riches to be made from that. [an insulted meow from the background says that his meowth heard that!]

I wouldn't really give him to anybody who wants to keep their eyes, between. His aim is way too damn good!

That sounds more like denial to me. If you really didn't want that cat you'd jump at the chance to give it away no matter what it's feelings were. Wouldn't it just be easier to admit that you like it?
