I can't

I can't get in contact with my friends

has anyone heard from Tristan Taylor, Joey Wheeler, Serenity Wheeler, Mai Valentine, Seto Kaiba, or Marik Ishtar?

[Ryou's crying at the thought of all the people he knew from home being gone as he types his message out. He's always been the kind to deeply value his little circle of friends, so to lose them all is highly upsetting.]

I think I have Kaiba's dragapult, and I can't get in contact with any of them but I wanted to hope because they couldnt have all left at once

[This isn't what he wanted to hear. Ryou was hoping maybe at least some of them were still around, but it's looking like they're truly all gone.]

[Radley has definitely been depressed and sad all day, but has tried to put on a happy face for the sweet Selene the Sylveon.]

Yeah, this is a bad scene. If you want, you're welcome to come hang out here. I know it's not like being with them, but it might be nice for Selene and the Dragapult to see each other again....

[It doesn't take long to consider this option, not when Ryou knows he's going to be wrecked for a while and in no real state to keep traveling. And it would be nice to let the Dragapult (Reaper, he believes its name is Reaper) see Selene again after the confusion of winding up with a different person altogether.]

Okay. Where are you at?

I'm in Goldenrod. I'm sending the address.

I'm coming over now.

[It doesn't take much to warp from Olivine to Goldenrod, and from there it isn't long before Ryou shows up at Radley's doorstep. By the looks of his face, he's been recently crying, but has tried to stop before showing up.]

[Radley smiles kindly. Ryou looks how Radley feels.]

Hey there.

[Selene pads over and makes a sound of greeting. Many of Radley's other Pokemon do too.]

Hey, Radley.

[Ryou smiles a bit at the sight of Selene and the other Pokémon, but not by much. From up on his shoulder, Nekomata the Meowstic greets the assorted Pokémon back, and after a moment Ryou lets Reaper out of his ball to see Selene again. The dragon also seems subdued, quiet now that his original trainer is gone.]

How have you been doing today? [Probably not too well, but Ryou doesn't know what else to say.]

[Selene is also subdued, but she's happy to see a close friend. She starts to talk to him.]

It's been tough.

[Radley struggled to only lose one friend at a time. Now, so many....]

Do you want something to eat?

[Reaper likewise chatters back at Selene, a bit happier at seeing a familiar face.]

Same here. I knew there was a chance some of us might get sent home, but...

[He never considered that all of them might go at once.

At being asked if he wants something to eat, Ryou realizes that he is in fact hungry and smiles gratefully.]

That would be nice, thank you.

[Selene starts to wag her tail.]

Yeah.... It's been a big shock, to say the least.

[He smiles a bit.]

We already have something ready. Come on inside.

[Some of his Pokemon moved to lead them to the kitchen.]

I'm afraid I do not know most of those, but the names I do, based on the lack of their contacts in the Pokégear, it would appear that they've been returned to their world.

I just...how could they all vanish at once? I didn't think they would all return home at the same time...

[It's a lot of people to get to go home, all apparently overnight. Ryou's understandably having a hard time coping with them all being gone.]

I can't say it's especially common, but it's not unheard of for several people to arrive or vanish at more or less the same time.

All of them are friends of yours?

I see.

More or less. Joey, Tristan, and Mai were my friends in my world. I didn't know Serenity as well but she was Joey's sister. I wasn't that close with Kaiba or Marik back home, but we were starting to get along here.

[Maybe he wasn't close friends with all of them, but he at least knew all of them.]

Are there other people here you've gotten to know who are still around, at least?

A few others.

There's IV and Radley, for example. I know them.

[Ryou tends to be a bit quiet and gravitates towards small friend groups, which is fine except when it backfires like this.]

Then you aren't alone, at least. Have you reached out to those friends?

I can't get in touch with Marik either. His name doesn't even show up on the Pokégear anymore.

[ Which really does only mean one thing... ]

You can't either?

I guess they really did all leave then. I didn't want to think that but...

[He knows what it means when someone's contact info vanishes from the Gear, he knows what it means when you unexpectedly end up with another person's Pokémon, he was just desperate for a different answer.]

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of too.

[ And she knows that it could happen to anyone at anytime. But somehow she hadn't thought to prepare for it happening like this. ]

I can't believe they're really gone.

I've had friends go home before but not a whole group at once like this.

[It's a lot to accept.]

How are you holding up?

[Even in his own sadness, Ryou thinks to ask how Fluttershy's doing.]

I know. There were so many who left so suddenly. I'd never seen it like this before either.

It's...difficult. There were a lot of things we didn't get to do, and things I hadn't said. It'll take some time to work through.

What about you, though? Are you going to be okay?

[ As upset as she is, she'd only really known Marik and Kaiba. But Ryou had lost a group of his friends at once, and she couldn't imagine how it must be for him. ]

I'm sorry.

[It's all he can say, between both dealing with his own emotions and sympathizing with Fluttershy.

As for if he'll be okay, there's a noticeable pause before he answers again.]

I'll be fine eventually. I think i'll need some time though.

[And he's not completely alone. He has other people he knows here, he has his Pokémon. This isn't like back when the Ring Spirit made it impossible to have friends at all.]

[ Honestly, it does just help having someone who can understand, even if what they're going through isn't entirely the same. ]

There's not much else we really can do, I guess. But if there's anything I can help with, just let me know.

[ Because it does help, knowing others are around. And being able to be there for someone else might also help with processing her own pain. ]

I have not heard from Marik recently and I cannot see him as a contact now that I have checked. I was not close to the others so I cannot speak for them.

[Even with the proof in front of him, with no one able to contact them and Kaiba's Dragapult abruptly in his ownership, it's still hard to accept.]

That is a shame. Marik was a good friend. I am sorry that you have lost someone you knew from home. It is not easy.

Sorry, man. I've not run into Marik either. I wanted to check in with him after some recent stuff.

I mean... I guess the worst that can happen in this place is people go home. That's what I hear. That's what happened to my other best friends.

Still, it's rough.

[But he still misses them. But he was still caught off guard by them all vanishing at once.]

It's okay to miss your friends. Don't push yourself too hard.

I know people come back, too. I came back once, apparently. I didn't remember being here, though.
