Day at the races

On September 15, all who have given heed to Farrah's plea for help gather at Circuit de Kantochamps over in, well, Kanto. UBIRDS were arranged by Farrah for the event (she really, really wants someone to beat these little jerks) so anyone, anywhere is welcome to join!

Once you arrive at the Circuit, Farrah can be seen pacing and muttering to herself, her Cyclizar Charles trying his level best to calm her down. It doesn't look like she is interested in a chat right now. Neither would you be, probably, if your Circuit was absolutely flooded with strange Tentacool knock-offs (If you scan them with your gear, the Pokedex will tell you these pokemon are called Toedscool) who are all jumping around, stretching, wrestling a bit amongst each other and being a rather general nuisance. Though if anyone tries to tell them off, they very quickly flee to hide behind--

Oh good god.

That's an absolutely massive Tentacruel-- no, Toedscruel. She towers over the many little Toedscool, patting them with her massive tentacles, and having the audacity to glare at you if you even dare to look slightly funny at her very precious brood.

Unfortunately, because of how quickly Farrah had to put this all together, there aren't a lot of side activities available at the circuit right now. There is The Race obviously, but apart from that, you are free to check out The Stables where Farrah's Cyclizar are being kept. If you are interested in borrowing one for the race, you might want to head over there a little early and get to meet your new ride.

The other thing that is available is A Small Museum. And we do mean small! It's barely two rooms, but it is filled with memorabilia of Cyclizar racers and racing from outside of this region. It honestly looks less like a formal museum, and more like someone's personal collection that has grown massively out of control. But hey, if you have an interest in learning a bit more about Cyclizar racing (or if you just want a quiet place to flee the crowd) feel free to check it out.

Spectating - OTA

[Romelle's friends were racing, so that meant she was there watching and cheering them on. She wasn't much of a racer, herself, but she knew she made a good cheering section, so there she was!

She had a bag with an egg, too, as a way to promote herself as a new breeder, if anyone wanted to ask!

She was indulging in some ice cream from one of the track's concession stands, and, even without a ton of extra activities, she was still there to have some fun. But, she wasn't much of a risk taker, so she probably wasn't going to be doing any betting.]

Evie sees Romelle first and waves a paw. "Eevee-vee-vee!"

Radley comes to attention and chuckles at the cuteness. "Hi there!"

Evie looks down at the bag. "Vee?"

"Looks like Evie's curious about your egg," Radley smiles. "What kind is it?"

"Ah, hello." Romelle gave them both a smile.

"It's going to be a Pachirisu," she said. "My first controlled breeding attempt now that I have my license."

Evie looks fascinated. "Vee?"

"I don't think we've heard of those," Radley says, curious. "What are they like?"

[questioneverything]

"I think someone mentioned that they look like Earth creatures called 'squirrels'," she said. "But they're mostly white, and they have fluffy tails. Their ears are blue, and there's a blue stripe that runs down their back and along the tail, and the tail has a few spikes on it."

She had pulled out her Gear to show Radley the picture from her Dex.

"See?"

Radley looks in fascination. "Oh yeah, those look almost exactly like squirrels except for the blue color and the spikes!"

Evie cheers. She wants to make friends!

Romelle considered that for a moment.

"Um... what do squirrels look like?"

[crystalmaster]

"They're usually gray," Radley says. "And the tails don't have spikes. They look pretty fluffy."

[questioneverything]

"I see," Romelle nodded. "That does sound cute." Of course, she was imagining one that was the size of a Pachirisu, at not quite a foot and a half tall, and over 8 pounds. Basically, a grey Pachirisu with no spikes... like a large Skwovet.

"I'm not very familiar with Earth creatures, but I've been learning about them since meeting Keith."

And Radley, not having seen the Pokemon squirrels in person, has no idea they're that big. "They are pretty cute," he says.

"Cool. I like how a lot of Pokemon look like them. It makes things feel more familiar."

[questioneverything]

"In a way," she said, agreeing. She could understand that. And, while there were a few here that looked like creatures she was familiar with, too, she wasn't exactly sure she had a facsimile for a 'squirrel' from her own home. At least, home as in what she knew about Altea and all that. She'd met some squirrels after getting to Earth, but that wasn't really the same. "I can understand that."

Evie warbles happily.

"I think she wonders if she can meet your Pachirisu when it hatches," Radley says.

[questioneverything]

"Of course!" Romelle giggled. "I don't mind that at all. In fact, it would be good for the Pachirisu to meet others."

[nastyboy]

[Frankly, Dimitri is just here for some good old fashion races! That's really it. And after a good few years in Johto and Kanto, well, that sometimes means walking mushrooms against all sorts of other things, like weird lizards with wheels.]

[It's neat!]

[But as he's watching, he can't help recognize a familiar face... and a rather fetching bag as well.]

Oh, Romelle - your bag is rather lovely, I couldn't help notice it.

Oh, thank you. [Bag appreciation was always good.] It was a gift from a friend now that I'm breeding. I recently got my license, and she gave me this as a way to congratulate me.

[nastyboy]

Oh! Then you have my congratulations as well. It is a very difficult career to get into - [His boyfriend is a breeder, which is how Dimitri knows. So many eggs... Most of them are Kent's fault, but still.] -but it can be a very rewarding one.

I do not have anything as nice as a bag, but... could I treat you to a meal or item from one of the food vendors here?

Really? [She smiled, grateful for the offer.] That would lovely, thank you. [Her experiences with human food were still limited as she tended to not often be super adventurous about things...] What would you suggest?

[and herein lies the problem]

[or, you know, one of the many problems, which tend to accrue in Dimitri's life. There is a brief but noticeable pause as he takes in that question, that request, and it is almost possible to see the way the gears in his brain stutter and misclick in that moment.]

[He adjusts quickly enough, sort of.]

Well, what do you prefer? I know there are savory and sweet things both, here.

[The hesitation did get her attention for a moment, but she pushed past it as he did. She could find out later.]

Hm, well... I do enjoy both, but... I think I prefer sweet.

[Oh thank goodness, he knew people who liked really sweet things once upon a time, he can make a decent recommendation here. Dimitri perks up slightly.]

Oh, well, what are your thoughts on cotton candy? It seems as though there was a rather interesting stall that I saw which seemed to put an interesting twist on it!

[Romelle had to think about that for a second. The term certainly sounded familiar.]

I don't believe I've tried that. Is it wearable candy? Or clothing that's edible?

Oh - no, I do not believe so, although I suppose there must be something similar, somewhere. [Modern food can be weird, after all.] But, rather, it is so soft and light that it looks like cotton.

It is rather interesting to feel in the mouth, because of that. It melts almost immediately.

Oh, that sounds rather delightful. [Apparently, Alteans have a sweet tooth.] I'd like to try some of that, I think.

I am glad you think so! I rather enjoy the peculiar sensation myself, so I hope that you feel the same way.

[Situation successfully navigated. With that done with, Dimitri starts to escort her down to where he last saw the stall, with a small line at it already. At least it's still easy enough to see some of the process from here...]

It can come in many delightful shapes, as you can see.

[Romelle watched, nodding about the shapes. There were several different ones... colorful flowers, cute bows, pretty stars... even Pokémon!]

Some of are almost too pretty to eat. I really like the Jigglypuff.
