If it were a case of abuse, or if it was a Pokemon that someone else stole that you are rescuing on behalf of the owners... then yes.

I assume that's the hypothetical case here?

Is it really stealing if you are just taking back a pokemon that was stolen in the first place?

[That doesn't even have super much to do with this, just a general musing.]

Hypothetically speaking, what if you knew a pokemon was being neglected because its owners cared more about hurting each other than anything else?

[Oh. That makes Allura's blood boil, especially when the Pokémon in this world are so intelligent and affectionate.

Then, hypothetically... it would likely be acceptable. (Contacting the authorities would be preferably, but I'm assuming you likely would have tried that already, without success?)
