018 - Starytube Stream
[First of all, there's a link posted on the Pokegear network from one Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd. As in, literally posted, you might have to copy paste it into the address bar? He's doing his best, bless him.]
Gremlin is doing streams for charity on his channel. Please support him. Thank you.
[And those who follow the link will find a stream shortly starting up on Staryutube, for a user called DABrat! Gremlin the Rattata is set up on, like.... so many little cushions on what looks like a tried and true gamer's chair, squeaking happily as Dimitri gingerly makes sure his little Rattata-sized headset is fit on perfectly.]
[Did you know that they make headphones just for Rattata? Now you do!]
[With that done with, Gremlin excitedly waves both of his tiny little rat hands up at the camera, and Dimitri smiles as well.]
Hello again, everyone. Gremlin has decided to make this month's series of streams very special. Since it is October, he has thought that he would do a horror game playthrough every day. All donations he gets from these streams will go right to charity!
[Gremlin gestures ENTHUSIASTICALLY.]
[....Behind both Dimitri and Gremlin, in the neon-lit gloom from the rest of the room, a shape begins to form, with the faint red glow of eyes towering there in the shadows.]
For those who managed to send their donations in during specified times, they will even get to put forth what horror game that they would like to see Gremlin play. He has managed to amass a bit of a collection just for this month, and we are also not afraid to buy things if they are readily available.
[The mysterious shadowy figure slowly fades away. Dimitri and Gremlin remain none the wiser.]
Chat, you know that you must behave as is proper while we finish setting up, and then we will be taking the first suggestions!
[ooc: WELCOME TO GREMLIN'S HALLOWEEN CHARITY STREAM please ignore the chat and what they say about Dimitri, because he sure is
Basically how this will work is that you can assume that - so long as they donated! - your character can suggest whatever horror game they like for Gremlin to play, and that can be threaded out to varying degrees! Alternatively, they can just comment and chill as Gremlin plays games with Dimitri there to offer commentary, and make sure his rat is doing well.
This will basically happen for long hours during all of October, so you can have your character comment whenever. This also ensures anyone can suggest whatever game and be guaranteed Gremlin will play it.
Suggested games can be completely made up, or Poke-parodies of actual horror games. If you're having trouble thinking of them, I have a whole spreadsheet of various horror games that you can riff off of.
Happy October!]

Hence the "disparity between type and habitat"...project? Maybe it could be a project. Mostly I was just curious and had some free time.
Hah, usually I'm better at picking up on that! I specialized in studies of a specific ancient civilization on my star, and wrote a thesis on that civilization as depicted in folklore. A large part of that was attempting to separate what was fact from what was fiction, and what was also dubiously possible at best yet possibly containing some sort of truth.
If I could rewrite it now, there would be a shocking amount that I would have to now categorize as the truth, but considering it would be coming from firsthand accounts, it would be difficult to provide enough citations to please some of the more staunch scholars.
You'd be surprised how many of them think a thesis should be equal parts written paper and a notated list of one's sources.
[Wait he got distracted shit]
As for the game itself, I don't see why it wouldn't have some piece of truth within it regarding Pokemon habitats. Obviously one would need to conduct work in the field to prove it so, but if they were accompanied by Pokemon as well, they should be safe.

It sounds as though you were a rather respectable scholar. Learning more about different cultures and civilizations is admirable. I often wish that my own homeland was more versed in such things, but it always seemed to be a struggle.

But seeing the fruits of one's labors go on to help one's friends and family, and the wider world at large, is truly its own reward.
And even if such never happened, some things I am just happy to have come to know in and of themselves.

Ah, but when we come to our break, perhaps Gremlin could give you recommendations for games which may be more interesting for you as well? There are apparently many which deal with historical events, or a particular trait for some types.

I would very much like to hear of these games, so yes, please!
But do let Gremlin know to take all the time he needs. I would not want to distract him wholly from his "streaming".

But I think he will make good time here! [Lookit his little buddy, already nyooming through as he investigates the surrounding area! Cautious and speedy in the way a Rattata gamer can be.] When the game is more serious, he does quite well.

Hm, I wonder...could other Ratatta have a similar sort of skill? I've never heard of such a thing, but perhaps raising one myself would shed some light on the matter.

On occasion, they are glad to indulge in something or another to a little degree - for example, we possess a dancing game that many of my team find enjoyment in - but their passions lay elsewhere for the most part. For example, Hob's interest is far more in contests and the like.

I think I'm just more struck by those who want to take up more of the things that we tend to do...er, the general we, I suppose.

I suppose so. Still, most of what we do is often within the same circle, do you not think so? We play with one another, and we talk, and we strive to become better than we are currently.
Life is very vast, and we hold more in common with our companions than we think.
