018 - Starytube Stream

Gremlin the Rattata is set up on, like.... so many little cushions on what looks like a tried and true gamer's chair, squeaking happily as Dimitri gingerly makes sure his little Rattata-sized headset is fit on perfectly.]

[Did you know that they make headphones just for Rattata? Now you do!]

[With that done with, Gremlin excitedly waves both of his tiny little rat hands up at the camera, and Dimitri smiles as well.]

Hello again, everyone. Gremlin has decided to make this month's series of streams very special. Since it is October, he has thought that he would do a horror game playthrough every day. All donations he gets from these streams will go right to charity!

[Gremlin gestures ENTHUSIASTICALLY.]

[....Behind both Dimitri and Gremlin, in the neon-lit gloom from the rest of the room, a shape begins to form, with the faint red glow of eyes towering there in the shadows.]

For those who managed to send their donations in during specified times, they will even get to put forth what horror game that they would like to see Gremlin play. He has managed to amass a bit of a collection just for this month, and we are also not afraid to buy things if they are readily available.

[The mysterious shadowy figure slowly fades away. Dimitri and Gremlin remain none the wiser.]

Chat, you know that you must behave as is proper while we finish setting up, and then we will be taking the first suggestions!

Basically how this will work is that you can assume that - so long as they donated! - your character can suggest whatever horror game they like for Gremlin to play, and that can be threaded out to varying degrees! Alternatively, they can just comment and chill as Gremlin plays games with Dimitri there to offer commentary, and make sure his rat is doing well.

This will basically happen for long hours during all of October, so you can have your character comment whenever. This also ensures anyone can suggest whatever game and be guaranteed Gremlin will play it.

Suggested games can be completely made up, or Poke-parodies of actual horror games. If you're having trouble thinking of them, I have a whole spreadsheet of various horror games that you can riff off of.

[Mostly by poking his nose at just about everything he possibly can, and definitely not going to the bus stop his character is talking about. Don't mind him as he tries to sprint down the street!]

[And don't mind Dimitri delicately opening the door the minimum he possibly can to squeeze his dorito body through and.... hauling along a Hisuian Typhlosion in his arms. Very carefully, he closes the door behind him. Very worryingly, he hauls up the Typhlosion's noodly body up like it's a holy symbol and just begins to.... hold him up to various spots in the room.]

[Said with the weariness of someone who has spent much time in real life. Too much real life.]

[He's about to suggest Gremlin head in a certain direction when... Dimitri starts Doing That. Please hold. Shiro is processing.]

Dimitri, what. Are you doing with your pokemon...?

[Oh shoot yeah they're still streaming]

[Dimitri freezes in place, still holding up the very chill Typhlosion, even as Gremlin contintues to do his things and sprints right back after being blocked in his little video game street.]

....I apologize for the interruption, everyone. Please ignore this.

[But oh - did Gremlin get to the objective?] That's the most ominous convenience store I've ever see.

[There was nothing suspicious about that pause at all. Please ignore it if it was.]

Typhlosion are simply... helpful. With. Things.

[Specifically Hisuian Typhlosion. Please stop looking at him now and he half-drags this large weasel across the floor.]

[Gremlin is still contentedly ignoring everything happening around him save for the game, pausing to handsmack before he continues what is apparently a jog around the place.]

[And then he abruptly stops, coming around the back to where a dumpster is, and also a part of a wooden fence, leading to some dark grassy area.]

[More importantly, Gremlin is playing, and zooming. Right into what looks much more threatening than the nice, brightly lit convenience store.]

[Gremlin carefully backs away from the scary murder alley looking place, until he can turn a corner and then book it back to the relative safety of cheap but obnoxiously bright convenient store lights.]

[And while he is going through a simple conversation with the employee who welcomes him back inside with a NPC Chansey who is so very happy to greet him...]

[Dimitri's tuning-Typhlosion finally stirs, and reaches out to smack air.]

[ - and oh fuck there's a Hisuian Zoroark being smacked out of nowhere with a yelp.]

[Ignore the ensuing yelling as Dimitri just throws a whole ass giant ferret at this fox.]

Okay, yeah, I -

[Hold up.]

[What. Is he. Seeing. What is Dimitri doing.]

[Shiro pretty much gapes at the screen for the longest time. Processing this - unsuccessfully. The suddenly appearing pokemon. Dimitri throwing his Typhlosion. Gremlin acting like this is no big deal.]

Uh.

Is everything...? Okay over there?

[Since he's clearly in the middle of a simple conversation, Gremlin takes this moment to turn around and scramble up the back of the chair so that he can witness as Dimitri lunges forward to help wrestle the Zoroark down to the ground along with a happy Typhlosion. There's still screaming.]

[Gremlin's tail twitches.]

[He lets go of the chair and slides back down, wiggling until his hands can smack to the keyboard.]

[But it's clear this is what the game is going to be about for now! Just... doing the regular sort of stuff you do at minimum wage jobs, liking putting things on their low poly shelves - at least with the help of the character's Leavanny too. So that's something.]

[...In the background of real life, Dimitri flings the Hisuian Zoroark out of the room with the Typhlosion slithering after it, before he makes his way back to the screen. Does he look tired? Don't worry about it.]

Oh, so we reached the store which serves as the namesake of this game? Did something scary happen yet?

[If that's even allowed in the game? Frankly, he's not sure. He's just trying to figure out what's going on here. It looks perfectly normal so far.]

The scariest thing was how easy you threw your pokemon out. Are you okay?

[Even without his Crest, that's just... a thing he's good at! Constant exercise and training and insisting on doing things like carrying giant dogs will do that to a guy.]

I do appreciate it, Shiro. However, fortunately, our home is quite well defended in a variety of ways, so we are prepared to handle much.

[Sometimes that means violently assaulting someone with a stick because it's a home which houses, like, three war vets.]

[And other times that just means taking a giant fire weasel and holding him up to dark corners like a dowsing rod.]

[Dimitri could say that the monsters which are men are also something to worry about eternally, but... that might be too dark, and he shouldn't do that to Gremlin's stream.]

[Which means he's also looking back to the Gremlin Stream. And trying not to laugh at the pokemon's reaction to retail. Granted, Shiro's not... that familiar with it. He hasn't worked it himself, but - still. This seems like it's common.]

[To demonstrate his point, Gremlin just - promptly ignores what he was supposed to be doing, guiding the character over to the automatic doors that open up into the dark parking lot. Even does a little lap around the building, showing how there's no one around.]

[...This has him realize something, apparently, and he suddenly stops playing to lean over and start smacking Dimitri's arm.]

Hm? Oh, should I go, then?

I... I didn't see anyone. Maybe it was a glitch in the game?

[Oh that's spooky. That's really spooky. Is it really a glitch?]

Oh, no, I returned to the room myself to take care of Mononoke, so please think nothing of it, Shiro. Still, if Gremlin is telling me this, then I think I will take my leave. I will come back in a little bit for the snack break.
