Is that a problem, Yukizome-kun?
[There's emphasis on the 'kun' and by the way it's stated it's probably intended as a joke. ...Sorry, Chisa.]
Why not let yours play with him for a moment? Wouldn't it be better for Pokemon to play with Pokemon?
[He truly means it. Probably. This man probably hasn't kept a pet before in his life.]

[ She sounds like she's chiding him a bit, but she's actually close to giggles. He may not want to call her Chisa, but, this was certainly a cute way of getting around it. ]
He clearly wants to play with you, though. But poor Cleffa is too small for him to really play with her...maybe Poliwhirl can play fetch with him a bit?

I may still surprise you yet, then.
[Yeah, that totally had been a joke. You caught him. Speaking of being caught, the Houndour gives a bark.]
...Maybe one game won't hurt but then we're back on the road.
[Sigh. He's setting the Pokemon to pick up the stick and just gives it a little toss. The Houndour gives him a look.]

[ Maybe this place is good for him. The fresh air, the blue sky, the lively creatures...everything about this world screams hope, which is something that, for the two of them, was a distant memory at best, and a far-off dream at worst.
But they muddled through somehow. ]
You're surprising him, too, it seems! Go on, sweetie, fetch the stick!

[Kyousuke can't say that this place doesn't seem hopeful. Yet, was that enough? That it just 'seemed' hopeful? Maybe things weren't peaceful under the surface. These creatures could just be predators. But there's been no evidence to the contrary.]
Go.
[The Houndour gives a joyous bark before running after the stick and bringing it back to him. Kyousuke gives him an awkward pat before throwing the stick again. He glances backwards at Chisa.]
He'll be even more of a handful when he's older. You do realize that, Yukizome-kun?
[But there's a softer edge to his words as he walks over to her side. ... He kind of wants to take her arm but that would be undignified.]
no subject
[ Oof. She's probably not going to try that again; something about it doesn't roll off the tongue very well. But she's content just being by his side, whether he holds her hand or not. ]
But don't you think it'll be worth it? He certainly seems loyal...

[Ouch. Okay, maybe he'll quit that for a little bit. He'll touch her arm, though.]
It might be. Will he be strong enough to carry on our hope?
[He's a dog, Kyousuke.]

[ She leans into his side as she watches the cute little Houndour return... ]

A name, hm?
[He thinks about this and even picks up this stick when the Houndour brings it back. Throwing it he nods.]
Ichiro.
[... Kyousuke why are you naming your dog 'first son'.]
