"Humans aren't nice." Walter said sadly. "I met a lot of 'em, and they don't do nice things. But...I haven't met anything like you."

After a pause, Walter looked down at his hands and mumbled shyly. "Do you wanna be friends? My name's Walter."

[Oh! He's got the same name as the Mister Walter who helped him in the store! Asriel nods, doing his best to...to smile, and not be sad. He should have a little time as himself left, right?]

Yeah, I'd like to be friends. My name's Asriel.

"Asriel." Little Walter repeated, so he would remember it. He walked forward, smiling. "Do...do you know where we are? This isn't Ashfield so I don't know how to get back to Silent Hill."

[Asriel looks up and around. He...knows the Underground so well, too well, to say that they're in the bowels of Mt. Ebott. But still...]

I...don't know. I only know it's a cave.

"That's okay...They're probably gonna punish me anyway, when I go back." Walter sighed sadly. It didn't matter if he had permission from the priests sometimes; the guards would still hit him. He might as well enjoy this until he was too hungry and had to return to the Wish House.

"You won't get in trouble, will you? For being out?"

[Asriel shakes his head, then...thinks on it, and nods.]

My Dad...he'll probably be sad, but, I gotta be out. It's better for him if I am.

[It's better that, in case he changes, his Dad isn't around to see.]

"You have a Dad? What's that like?" Little Walter stepped closer and sat beside Asriel, hugging his knees to keep warm. He knew some of the other orphans had known their parents, but they didn't talk about them much.

[How does he describe having a Dad? This is kind of hard...but it looks like he's going to try, if his somewhat scrunched thinking face is anything to go by.]

He's...warm. And strong. He can't do everything, but he's always gonna try to help me if I need it.

"That sounds so nice." He wished he had a Dad like that. "Is he fluffy like you too? That must make him super warm."

[Asriel nods.] Uh-huh! And so's my Mom, but, she's not here right now. She's back home.

[And it's...probably better that she is, honestly. He doesn't even want to think of the mess it would be trying to divide his and Frisk's time between both parents.]

"I have a Mom too! But, she's sleeping and can't wake up." Walter brightened at the mention of a mother. He'd never met his own Mom but he knew where she was. The nice lady had told him, she was where he'd been born.

Well... The Holy Mother, aka God, is dead. He didn't know what happened to his actual, biological mother.

But Walter only smiled, hugging his knees. "Does she give you lots of hugs and stuff? That's what Mom's do, right?"

Ah, yeah. And, she cooks a lot of yummy food. Her pies are always the best.

[Cinnamon Butterscotch comes to mind at first, but...he's actually starting to miss snail pie. Gosh, he could go for some warm snail pie right about now...]

She also likes to read to us before bed. She has a lot of books, and she knows them all by heart, but, she can always read them in fun voices.

Walter sighed. Words couldn't describe the yearning in his heart for a Mom who would do things like that for him. Bedtime stories and homemade pies...he imagined those, with a smiling, warm Mom who would smile at him.

"I wish I could be with my Mom. We have to read the Scriptures really well; the priests wouldn't read them to us."
