Who: Duo Maxwell, OPEN
Where: Goldenrod
When: After he's done with Rocket Training
Summary: Duo scopes out his new surroundings to get a feel for where he is
Rating: G (might have some strong language at points, though)
Log:
[FREEDOM!!! Having suffered through a couple of weeks of being stuck in that stuffy base going through stupid classes of things he already knew (but didn't want people to know he knew), Duo had been released into the wilds of PokeWorld! Sure, he had a mission, one he wasn't too proud of, honestly, but he was a rebel and determined to be the good guy, so... he figured he'd play this out "Trowa-style". Gather intel, figure out what this whole Rocket thing was about. So, it was time to act like a Trainer. At least, that's what the ID they'd given him said he was.
Starting in Goldenrod was a little odd probably, sure, according to what he'd learned so far, but that was fine. He could play along.
He'd met and made a few friends while in the base... at least, he thought they were friends, so he was hoping that they were people he could trust. They'd played it a little vague, but subtext had been pretty clear to him, at least. He hoped he wasn't making a mistake.
And, if he was, well, he'd just have to take care of himself. He'd done it before.
Either way, his Duskull and Houndour were his true trusted buddies for now, and it was time to figure this place out.
Sorry, Quatre... but Duo just couldn't reveal his current situation to his friend just yet.
Duo was wandering around town, scoping the area out for things to do, sights to see, and maybe some food to eat.]

...OH MY GOD WHERE DID YOU GO-!!
[Horse clamps their mouth, previously open- shut with a jolt.] ....Lly!
[Carly for the moment is looking everywhere but the right direction! Once she does notice she runs over in a bit of a panic.] HihhHHHHHH-!!! Horse..! You're too big to wander off like this...!!
[It occurs to her at that precise moment- much later than it should have perhaps- that Horse is sitting in front of a whole person, with two pokemon.] Uh.
[Ahem.] S...sorry about any trouble they might have caused....
no subject
and now it's my turn to have irl eat me evidently...
[Good to see the dex is working.] Honestly they're completely harmless like this- rescues can't actually fight!
[Which is good because she's pretty sure Horse would just, fall over....]
you and me both
no subject
[Ah well.] Hooooo...a houndour huh? ...That sounds right, they really like battling...
I'd offer to treat him to a battle, but I don't really uh. Have any under-levelled sorts with me right now, I have a pretty precise team when I'm in the area...
[Her ~Rocket Team~, but she's not saying that when she has no idea if she's talking to a rocket or not yet.]

These are the only two I've got right now, though. Just got my start.
[Duo didn't exactly realize, yet, just how that might sound considering most people just getting their start were over in the New Bark Town area...]
no subject
[..........................................Oh dear.] Just started huh~? Woke up here in town I take it?
[She'll play it cool to start. And then gently, quietly, explain why that's the worst possible thing to tell most people yepppp!]
no subject
He nodded at the question.]
Yeah. Does that happen a lot around here?
no subject
Only a small handful wake up, ah...here, with an extra pokemon and a job.
Holding out okay?
no subject
I guess. It's a weird place, and the idea of being in a whole different world is something to get used to for sure.
How long have you been here?
no subject
It's a lot, but it's not too bad~ Kind of relaxing anyway, at least thanks to how the place works...
Anyway. I'd say a few years? Enough time to get married, believe it or not!~ Not to mention top promotion, at least as far as people like us get...
[The best part is that she can honestly say that for non-rocket matters too, thanks to her Gym.]
no subject
Years???
[Okay, that's a long time to be stuck in a world that wasn't your own.]
Do you worry about what's going on back home?
no subject
[You know, after the other weird parts.] Best we understand it...it's like they hit a pause button back here. Time just...isn't passing wherever we came from.

Whatever the process is, knowing it doesn't change it if you ask me- what takes priority is sorting out life while you're here!

...With background music, but it gets easy to block that out after a while, trust me. It gets nice and appropriately quiet at night.
no subject
[Duo laughed a bit.]
I mean, where I'm from, there are sometimes street fairs or restaurants and business that play music on the street, but... yeah. This is a whole new level in regards to having a soundtrack of life.
no subject
Nothing tells you to get out of dodge like a sudden jump-chord.
no subject
Does that happen a lot? What usually causes it?
[Should he be worried?]
she and jolyne got stuck in their tent bc of cave ursaring once,
...How much it hits is something I'd say depends on how often you're going caving, but if you hear the chord it probably just means you found an ursaring really.
[Just, y'know. A BEAR. Don't worry about it.]
LMAO
What's an ursaring?
no subject
That's about what it is, just has a big ol' ring mark on its front, [she explains with a gesture.] If you can see that clearly though, you're probably too close. The bear part is the important part.
no subject
[Duo nodded.]
Thanks.
