The hills are alive with the sound of… sneezing?

It’s almost a week into January, and trainers may have started to get nervous about the lack of Snorunts. Whether you’re excited to see them, or just want the metaphorical bomb to drop and be over with - the wait is finally done. Snorunts have started to make their way into town.

But instead of fortunes, what they have to give right now is coughs, bleary eyes, and sad little flops sideways into the snow. They’re not alone, either: every once in a while you’ll see an equally sick Glalie or Froslass. (Be careful - a sneezing Glalie is basically a wrecking ball waiting to happen, prone to launching itself backward! And if you’ve been struck by an odd spurt of bad luck, maybe you’ll be right in the way when it does…)

In cities across Johto and Kanto, and in field camps in between, Nurse Joys are scrambling to treat the miserable Ice Pokemon. But they’re direly in need of more helping hands. Will you pitch in?

[Radley relaxes a bit.]

Whew, that must be a relief. Do you need some help getting up?

[epitaffio]

I-I'm okay.

[His legs are awfully wobbly as he gets back up, but he DOES get back up.]

[Radley stays right there in case he’s needed.]

You’re sure? You don’t think you should get checked out or something?

[He smiles a bit at the thanks.]

Sure.

[epitaffio]

I don't think anything's broken! I mean... O-Ouch.

[He brushes a hand over one of his ribs; it does hurt a little more than he'd like, making him wince, but it's not unbearable.]

[crystalmaster]

[Radley winces.]

Maybe you'd better get that wrapped, at least?

[epitaffio]

[Doppio makes a little noise. It's kind of hard to tell if it's a sigh or a whimper.]

I guess so...

[crystalmaster]

I could help you get to the nearest hospital.

[Evie nods. "Vee!"]

[epitaffio]

T-That's a bit...! Um, just back to Ecruteak is fine, thank you!

[Hospitals here may not present exactly the same problems that they did back home, but they still make Doppio uneasy.]

[crystalmaster]

Okay, sure. Ecruteak it is!

[He understands not wanting to go to the hospital. He hates it himself. He just hopes it's not necessary.

Evie walks ahead with a cute marching motion.]

[epitaffio]

[And Doppio follows. For what it's worth, he looks like he can walk just fine...]

[crystalmaster]

[Radley is glad to see that. They should make pretty good time, unless any other disasters happen.]

So, how’s this month been treating you? … Aside from today, I mean.

[epitaffio]

Oh... Um... Fine?

[Doppio is not very good at small talk.]

[crystalmaster]

You haven't been having a lot of weird stuff happen? We sure have.

[epitaffio]

Huh? What kind of weird stuff?

[crystalmaster]

[Radley blinks in surprise at that.]

Stuff like being pinned under Glalies. Seems like a lot of people are having problems while we've been trying to help the sick Pokemon. We've had flour explode across the kitchen, trouble crossing ice, even angry shoppers who don't wanna let us have the ingredients we need to make cough drops and food. And yeah, it's stuff that technically could happen any time. It just seems like there's a lot more of it happening right now.

[epitaffio]

Oh... Really?

[Doppio blinks right back.]

That kind of stuff happens to me all the time. You mean it's happening to everybody else?

[crystalmaster]

... Uh, yeah, it is. Or a lot of us, anyway.

[Yikes, this poor guy must be accident-prone....]

Sounds like it's about time you had some better luck than usual.

[He wonders how the Snorunts will feel.]

[epitaffio]

If it's up to the Snorunts, the way things are looking, that might take a while. [Not that he ever remembers getting particularly good fortunes, either... Last year SUCKED.]

[crystalmaster]

I know the feeling. I wish I could figure out what's going through their minds better so I'd know what not to do.

[epitaffio]

For good luck, you mean?

[crystalmaster]

Yeah. It seems like it's pretty unpredictable what they'll like and what they'll be upset or insulted about. I've seen some people who can't seem to catch a break no matter what they try. I wonder if in cases like that, the Snorunts really just don't like the person more than disliking anything they're doing.

[epitaffio]

Well, that doesn't sound fair.

[crystalmaster]

I sure agree. I wonder if somebody who can communicate with them could find out more of what they’re thinking.
