save our snorunts event log

Who: Everyone!
When: January 2-26
Where: Practically everywhere. Maybe not the volcano on Cinnabar Island.
What: Save those Snorunts!
OOC Info: here!

The hills are alive with the sound of… sneezing?

It’s almost a week into January, and trainers may have started to get nervous about the lack of Snorunts. Whether you’re excited to see them, or just want the metaphorical bomb to drop and be over with - the wait is finally done. Snorunts have started to make their way into town.

But instead of fortunes, what they have to give right now is coughs, bleary eyes, and sad little flops sideways into the snow. They’re not alone, either: every once in a while you’ll see an equally sick Glalie or Froslass. (Be careful - a sneezing Glalie is basically a wrecking ball waiting to happen, prone to launching itself backward! And if you’ve been struck by an odd spurt of bad luck, maybe you’ll be right in the way when it does…)

In cities across Johto and Kanto, and in field camps in between, Nurse Joys are scrambling to treat the miserable Ice Pokemon. But they’re direly in need of more helping hands. Will you pitch in?

“I can agree with that. There are still plenty of them that we can go back to rescuing later as soon as we are done with bringing the first batch of them to the Pokémon Center,” Isabela chimes in as she secures the last of the Snorunts she has found onto the sledge.

Antonio lets out a whinny to let them know that it is about time to bring the Snorunts to the Center. With his back occupied, Isabela is going to walk on foot, a trade off she is willing to go with.

“Okay now that the first batch is ready, we should head to the Center right away,” she speaks up as she begins leading Antonio and the Snorunts towards the Pokémon Center.

"Of course. We will be back."

Ulaz decided, since Isabela was going to walk on foot, he would as well. It be better to keep her company. Also he could carry a few more Snorunts as well if he was walking.

"Bet," he said as he picked up those Snorunts. He didn't say the command, but gave Bet a hand signal and he would start walking with Isabela and Antonio towards the Pokemon Center.

If they were to look back, Bet wandered a bit away from the basket with Snorunts, but that was only to be able to get air without disturbing them much. Once airborne, Bet flew over to the basket and in one motion, picked it up with his talons and off he went, leading the way.

"It is difficult for him to go slowly," Ulaz explained as Bet left them behind. "He'll wait for us at the Pokemon Center."

“That is very understandable. Thankfully we are not going to rush the rescue for the safety and well being of the Snorunts.”

To be honest, she couldn’t blame Bet for needing to take some time to get himself and the Snorunts to the skies. Carrying plenty of small Pokémon in a basket while in the air takes a lot of effort and, since they are in no rush to hurry, she is more than happy to wait for all of them to catch up. The Snorunts’ medical well being is of the utmost importance after all.

Antonio, being mindful of this, adjusts his walking speed as not to give the Snorunts a hard time as Isabela leads the way to the Pokémon Center. She would look behind her back once in a while to see if everyone is still there and to make sure that no one gets left behind, Snorunt or otherwise.

Eventually most of the group could see the Pokémon Center coming into view and gathered at the entrance, awaiting for Bet and the basket of Snorunts to land and meet up with them.

"Yes. It would be good to get them back, but there doesn't seem to be an immediate requirement." So the others could wait a little bit.

Ulaz walked alongside, shivering Snorunts in his arms. Luckily, they would be at the Pokemon Center soon and could get them taken care of. It take more coordination on Bet's part, but he had done similar things before so Ulaz was not concerned about Bet not being at his side.

As they arrived at the Pokemon Center, Bet would finally come in to land, having been unintentionally giving the Snorunts in the basket a lovely aerial tour of the city... if they were well enough to enjoy it. Ulaz would first, carefully, hand the two Snorunts he was carrying to those who were helping with the care of the sick Pokemon and then move to help Bet by half-taking the basket, half-guiding it down, so Bet could place it and release it to land.

Since the workers were coming to help with the basket of Snorunts, Ulaz returned to the sledge. "I'll let help with unloading these ones."

“That is great to hear, Ulaz. We should be able to drop these guys off to the people at the Center in no time and make it easier on them to check on their well being,” Isabela nods as she hands over the Snorunts to some of the volunteers herself.

Antonio neighs as he allows other volunteers to retrieve the Snorunts from his back, gently reminding them every once in a while to be careful in holding and carrying them. Isabela also joins in unloading the shivering Snorunts from the sledge as well, being mindful not to get her hands frozen by accident as she carries some in her arms before passing them to one local volunteer.

"Yes. Hopefully they can get taken care of properly now." Medicine only did so much and was more useful in the wild when something immediate was needed, but wouldn't help long term.

Bet settled in to rest for a bit since he had been flying around that whole time with the basket of Snorunts. Ulaz would help with unloading the Snorunts and getting them to people who could help them better.

"There weren't that many left. I think between the both of us, we should be able to get all of them with one more trip."

“I thought so as well,” she chimes in as she hands over the last of the Snorunts she gathered to the volunteers, “And thankfully we’re not the only ones doing our part to help these little guys. While we were on our way here, I have seen other people scrambling to get several of them to the Pokémon Center or nearby clinics as fast as they can.”

Antonio whines once more as he takes a moment to take a rest after all the Snorunts have been gathered up. The Ponyta wonders how the sickness could have affected an entire line of Pokémon that easily.

“Okay, don’t worry Antonio. We’ll find as many as Snorunts as we can after you get some rest. We shouldn’t overwork ourselves too much though, other folks are also doing their best to help too.”

Ulaz nodded. "Yes, it is also important to not strain ourselves. If you need a moment to rest before we head back out, we can."

Bet was still sitting there waiting patiently for when he was needed.

"There are a lot of people helping. I was honestly not aware there were this any Snorunts in this area."

“I’m just as surprised to see this many Snorunts in this city as well. To be honest, I was expecting them to be more commonly found in smaller towns and in the wilderness,” Isabela chimes in as she gently pets Antonio, mindful not to get too close to his fiery mane.

She also thinks that taking a moment to rest up before going back for the Snorunts would be good for their energy as not to put too much stress onto them too, “Certainly. I could sure use this time to rest up before heading back outside to retrieve more Snorunts again.”

[personal profile] scalpelofmarmora 2025-03-03 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Indeed. I wonder if they are moving closer to the city because that is where the Pokemon Centers are and they know instinctively they will get help at them."

Ulaz was always impressed with the Pokemon that looked like they were actively on fire. It was very interesting. Ponyta and Rapidash were obviously included in that.

"Shall we take a short break to get any food or beverage we might need after being out in the cold and reconvene shortly?"

[personal profile] senorita_perfecta 2025-03-04 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
“Yes of course. Wouldn’t hurt to get something to eat and recharge our energy after spending some time rescuing Snorunts in the snow,” Isabela happily replies as Antonio neighs in unison.

She hasn’t eaten anything notable since the early morning before she and Antonio went out outside and encountered the sick Snorunts so she is more than happy to get some food right about now. It is never fun to go about one’s day with an empty stomach, especially when there are Snorunts who are in need of medical help.

[personal profile] scalpelofmarmora 2025-03-05 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
"It would not. It is difficult to take care of others if you are not taking care of yourself."

Yes, if he knew that she hadn't eaten for a while, he would certainly insist on getting food. Food was important. Bet was well aware of this as well since he was wandering in the direction of someone who might be willing to given him food.

Isabela hasn’t forgotten how easy it is to be neglectful of one’s needs while trying to look after others. She has often sacrificed her own desires and dreams in the service of the encanto for almost her entire life and Luisa often not getting enough rest while carrying out errands before Mirabel’s intervention.

“Understood, let’s head inside and get some food right away.”

Antonio whines in agreement as he lifts his hind legs in response, he is also looking forward to getting some food to eat too.

Ulaz could also sympathize with that. There was much about his life he had done out of obligation, including some things that he would have rather not done, but had been required to at the time. Here he had less obligations which meant he was able to use it to care of the Pokemon of this world.

"Agreed."

As Ulaz started to head inside, Bet would follow him since his trainer was going that way, but Bet would be nice and let Isabela and Antonio go in first. He was a very large bird who understood his height thanks to Ulaz.

Without saying a word, Isabela leads Antonio into the building, the Ponyta dutifully follows after her. Upon entering the Center, she could the cafeteria area not far away from the entrance. But she wants to wait for her companions to enter the interior first before going to the cafeteria right away.

After they got inside, they await for Ulaz and Bet to come inside so they can all go together and have a break as a team.

After Isabela and Antonio entered, Ulaz entered and Bet ducked so that he could get under the door frame. Bet fluffed his feathers, standing right behind Ulaz.

"Let's go get some food." And he'd start heading in that direction.
