save our snorunts event log

Who: Everyone!
When: January 2-26
Where: Practically everywhere. Maybe not the volcano on Cinnabar Island.
What: Save those Snorunts!
OOC Info: here!

The hills are alive with the sound of… sneezing?

It’s almost a week into January, and trainers may have started to get nervous about the lack of Snorunts. Whether you’re excited to see them, or just want the metaphorical bomb to drop and be over with - the wait is finally done. Snorunts have started to make their way into town.

But instead of fortunes, what they have to give right now is coughs, bleary eyes, and sad little flops sideways into the snow. They’re not alone, either: every once in a while you’ll see an equally sick Glalie or Froslass. (Be careful - a sneezing Glalie is basically a wrecking ball waiting to happen, prone to launching itself backward! And if you’ve been struck by an odd spurt of bad luck, maybe you’ll be right in the way when it does…)

In cities across Johto and Kanto, and in field camps in between, Nurse Joys are scrambling to treat the miserable Ice Pokemon. But they’re direly in need of more helping hands. Will you pitch in?

[ She nods. ] I do. I help take care of a lot of Pokemon, both trainers' and sometimes wild Pokemon that are injured and are recovering. And it's nice when we get to release those wild Pokemon out when they've recovered.

Oh wow, really? That's wonderful! Do you like observing any of the marine Pokemon?

That's good to hear. It's a tough job but a necessary one, so all the better that you enjoy it. [He smiles softly and nods.]

Yeah, I do. I spend a lot of time on the waters and see all sorts of Pokemon. They act both really similarly and really different to normal animals. I have a penchant for Finizen since my first Pokemon was one... but I like observing Staryu and Starmie the most. They're so fascinating, especially for starfish.

[He tries to act cool but it's hard for him to not sound excited about starfish. Starfish definitely were his favourite but he loves his work too.]

Mm, it can be pretty tough sometimes, especially seeing them so hurt. But it's all worth it once they're better.

Oooh yes! They're really fascinating, aren't they? Have you been to the research center? They have Pokemon with Dive and sometimes take trainers down to observe the deep sea Pokemon.

The one in the Pelagic Gym? The one that specialises in Dive battles? I've been there before. It's amazing.

[Maybe when all of this over he should visit there again. It's been a few months...]

The whole concept of Dive is so bizarre to me but it opens so many avenues of research. And is just nice in general. There are just so many water Pokemon.

Oh no, not the gym. Although that sounds really interesting! But actually I mean the research center on Four Island. They let trainers borrow equipment and Pokemon with dive to study deeper sea Pokemon and observe them in their natural environments.

[Jotaro's eyes visibly light up. There's more places you can do research??? And dive into???]

... Ah. I must have missed that on my first trip to Four Island.

... Guess I know where I'm going next time I have a free week.

[ Fluttershy nods excitedly. ] I really recommend it! It's such a fun opportunity to get to learn about deep-sea Pokemon.
phdepression: (a smile?????)

Thank you. I really do like the ocean. It'll be interesting to see how it compares to back at home. Maybe we'll find a new ally to bring back with us, right Drupe?

[The Cherubi cheers, echoing his trainer's sentiment. He's so excited. If he was a more emotive man, he would be vibrating.]

I sometimes visit my daughter on Two Island. Her house goes into the ocean and you can see all sorts of things through the window. I can only imagine how cool the deep-sea layout will be.

It's a lot of fun! I like to go snorkeling sometimes, and it's really pretty under the water. I can only imagine it'd be even more interesting the further down you go.

Oh wow, that sound amazing! It must be so relaxing being able to sit and watch the ocean Pokemon swim by the window.
phdepression: (cherished you)

Shall we start wrapping up?

[personal profile] phdepression 2025-04-23 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
It is. I often do my research there and look out the window for hours at a time. It's wonderful.

[Jotaro looks like he's about to talk about his research but he manages to stop himself just in time. He smiles.]
shiningkindness: (357)

Sounds good!

[personal profile] shiningkindness 2025-04-29 10:46 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, it sounds like a wonderful time.

[ Fluttershy definitely wouldn't mind hearing about his research, but she also doesn't want to ask if he doesn't want to share. But this was nice, and she had to admit that it certainly did help taking a break. ]
phdepression: (a smile?????)

[personal profile] phdepression 2025-04-30 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Jotaro would love to talk about it but he gets lost in technical jargon and his theories like any good professor. Maybe another time, when they both had a bit more energy to bear the brunt of the topic.]

I should go. Enough meddling from me for one day. I'm supposed to get Drupe some food anyway.

[The Cherubi chirps from the bag, glad to be finally acknowledged. Jotaro smiles at him before he finally stands up.] If you ever are around Two Island or Four Island, see if I'm around. I won't say no to seeing a friendly face.

[personal profile] shiningkindness 2025-05-03 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Glancing up at him, Fluttershy nods and gets to her feet as well. ] All right. I should probably get back to work. But thank you.

[ She definitely did need the break.

Fluttershy smiles at the offer. ]
Of course. I actually live on Four Island, so let me know if you ever drop by. I can show you where the research center is.
phdepression: (a smile?????)

[personal profile] phdepression 2025-05-09 09:02 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, that is convenient. I'll take you up on that offer.

[Jotaro tips his hat to her and smirks.] See you around, Fluttershy.

[Drupe chirps a goodbye and Jotaro walks off. The people here are so nice. Maybe it isn't bad to talk to people like that once in a while.]
