The hills are alive with the sound of… sneezing?

It’s almost a week into January, and trainers may have started to get nervous about the lack of Snorunts. Whether you’re excited to see them, or just want the metaphorical bomb to drop and be over with - the wait is finally done. Snorunts have started to make their way into town.

But instead of fortunes, what they have to give right now is coughs, bleary eyes, and sad little flops sideways into the snow. They’re not alone, either: every once in a while you’ll see an equally sick Glalie or Froslass. (Be careful - a sneezing Glalie is basically a wrecking ball waiting to happen, prone to launching itself backward! And if you’ve been struck by an odd spurt of bad luck, maybe you’ll be right in the way when it does…)

In cities across Johto and Kanto, and in field camps in between, Nurse Joys are scrambling to treat the miserable Ice Pokemon. But they’re direly in need of more helping hands. Will you pitch in?

"Although it seems like all Pokemon are named for the sounds they make," Radley chuckled.

Evie cheered. "Eevee-vee!"

"Indeed. I do find that strange as well, but it does seem to make sense. However, it is definitely nicer to give them individual names."

"If we did that back home, dogs would be named Bark or Woof," Radley chuckled. "I like naming everybody too."

"That is true. There are definitely some creatures home I wouldn't want to try and name them based on what they sound like. Naming each one is more personal."

"Yeah. That's the best way. I try to name mine after people or characters they remind me of a lot, but sometimes a name just comes to me and I wanna use it if it seems to fit," Radley said.

"I feel the same way with mine. Many of them do not make much sense but it is the name that I feel fits them the best. Either it is the one I think of looking at them or it something related to them."

"That's the same with me too," Radley said. "I think that's how it is for a lot of people when they name animals. Maybe sometimes when they name people too." He sure wondered how some people got the names they did.

Evie was still warbling away, happy to be with her friends and happy to meet new ones.

"I have only had the occasion to name other creatures here. So it was something that I did not have a lot of experience with."

Irkut was still herding his daughter who was trying to be cute and fluffy. Luckily, she didn't seem to want to go too far from Evie.

"You've done pretty well with it. I didn't ever do it until I got here too," Radley said.

Evie happily rambled on, tail waving.

"Never had animal companions back home either?"

At least the Espurr and her father were entertained for the time being hanging out with friends.

"Nah. My grandma wouldn't allow it," Radley replied.

Evie was happy to entertain!

"Oh I see. That would certainly make sense. It has been a very long time since I have had to check with others about such things, but it was not safe or practical."

After running around for a bit, the little Espurr went running over to Radley, clearly just having the best time taking a break from helping the ice Pokemon.

“Yeah, she was worried pets would mess up the house,” Radley said.

He smiled at the Espurr. “Hi there,” he said, bending over to be more on her eye level.

"Given the chaos that occasionally happens at my house, I could understand."

The Espurr squeaked happily, waving at him. It was her version of 'hi!'.

“Yeah, I don’t think she could stand what it’s like at my place every day,” Radley chuckled.

He waved back to the Espurr.

Some of the other Eevees came over too. “Eevee!” exclaimed one.

"I think many here do have quite a lot of Pokemon. I don't think most would have that many back home."

The young Espurr was very happy to see other Eevees and went running over to them. She was more than happy to show off how fluffy she was.

"Probably not, except maybe crazy cat ladies," Radley chuckled. He was probably the crazy Eevee guy.

The Eevees cheered and some jumped up and down. Yay, very fluffy!

"'Crazy cat ladies'... I am unfamiliar with this term."

The little Espurr was very happy now to have so many Pokemon to show off to. Her father was happy for her.

"People like the lady in New Bark Town with all the Skitties," Radley explains. "They have lots of cats."

Some of the Eevees started talking about routines Radley did to help them stay fluffy.

"Oh I see. So that explains the 'cat ladies'. What makes them crazy?"

The Espurr sat down, very engrossed in listening to the tips. Her wide eyes (okay they were always large - she was an Espurr) were fixed on the Eevees.

“You know, they probably aren’t,” Radley mused. “Other people just think they are because they think it’s weird to have so many.”

The Eevees were happy to impart their wisdom!

Radley had to snap a picture. So cute!

"I see. Crazy in the sense that others do not understand them. That makes more sense."

At least here, having a lot of animals was expected.

Ulaz observed the "fluff" lesson and smiled. "You will have to send that to me."

"Yeah, exactly," Radley agreed.

He definitely appreciated that it was normal here to have a lot.

"Sure," he smiled, and immediately sent it over.

"Thank you for the explanation. I'd probably be considered crazy in your world by that standard."

Ulaz heard his communicator ding, indicating that he had received. "Thank you."

"I'm sure I would be too," Radley chuckled, eyeing the Eevees.

Some of them jumped up and down happily. "Eevee-vee!"

"It's really interesting at home when they all start chorusing together," Radley remarked.
