Video 1: Hello Dolly~! (October 13th)

[ The PokeGear is angled correctly for once, no up close faces or the likes as though whoever was operating it took time to consider how to operate the PokeGear properly. From what can be seen, background wise appears to be the insides of Mille's Bakery as the storm starts up outside. Not too far, but not too close, it's a Goldilocks levels of just the right distance as the owner of the PokeGear comes into view. ]

[ She was a pale young woman with freckles, most certainly of college age if appearances were to be judged. The girl's hair was brown with creamy white streaks intertwined in long waves, a red hair bow noticeably tied in the back as she ran a hand over her fluffy bangs for a moment. The glasses glinted a bit in the lighting of the building, hiding her eyes a bit as she takes a deep breath in over the current situation happening. She is dressed in her spare trainer clothing, a white furisode girl outfit as her other clothing is hung up drying after being caught in the stormy weather. Over head, a small Cutiefly goes to perch right on top of the girl's head, looking pretty merry about the situation. ]

I don't mean to cause a buzz, but it'd be the Bee's Knee if I could get an idea of which country I'm at? I woke up in Pallet Town and currently sheltering at Mille's Bakery for the time being till the storm passes by.

[ There was no way in the Stellar Sea Dolly was about to attempt traveling in such bad weather conditions...just a terrible idea really. Even with the catchy, cheery music playing in the background...where was that even coming from anyways?]

[ Oh thank Mac Lir, this one was not a sleazy looking man of grime like before! Dolly takes a breath of relief for this. ]

Yeah, evidently 'Mom' wasn't one for postponing this 'journey'. I guess there was no whining about the storm going on.

[ Wait....there was a cabin like building here in Pallet Town? That got Dolly's attention...

The storm at the moment is way too strong at the moment as it keeps blowing hard. ]

I'd have to wait for a break in the storm, it's a bit too strong right now. I honestly didn't realize there was a gym for supply and survival items. That's something new to learn about..

[ Carefully, Dolly maneuvers her PokeGear to show the outside of Pallet Town and holy smokes she wasn't joking about the storm, its really coming down hard.... ]

I'm honestly surprised there isn't a shelter in place order happening.

Yikes....

...I'd say I'll talk to her, but I don't think she'd remember the conversation...

[He feels kind of bad for Mom.]

Oh, yeah it's a new thing! Not sure the books that show up with us on arrival have updated to include it...

Honestly it's probably because most here know how to safely get through this kind of weather. I have to, later. My house is kind of on the water right now.

Oh no, does she have memory problems? It would explain why she introduced herself as 'Mom'..

[Dolly was now feeling pretty bad for the human called 'Mom'. Clearly she was going through some things. Book though? That was news to Dolly as she hadn't gone through the Ribombee backpack since arriving in Kanto.]

That's pretty cool to know though and something worth an experiment on. I can get the book up now if you'd like to see if it's updated or not?

[There's a momentary pause on the video line as Dolly hears about the not being on dry land as she looks back out at the storm.]

I hope you're staying safe aboard. The sea gets pretty crazy rough when storms like this brews up, especially if the waterspouts start to form. How far out to sea are you?

Honestly I'm...not sure. [Mom is a mystery...]

She seems to think she's everyone's mom..? But the thing is she clearly remembered me enough to bring me cookies when I opened the Gym here, and it had been years at that point, [he emphasizes seriously.

Emporio then beams, giving a nod.] No time like the present- let's take a look at that book.

The boat should be fine though- it's at the docks, not out to sea. If it wasn't so dark out right now, I'd say you should be able to see it by looking out toward the water, but...

Ah the mystery deepens a bit, good to know that she makes cookies. [Clearly that's what Mom is, a mysterious being of unknown origins that bakes cookies sometimes..maybe...]

I wonder if Mom just has no contact with her own children and that's why she's pretty much adopting strangers?

[Years? Woah Mom and you just came with cookies...?]

[Awesome! Dolly goes to dig into her Ribombee inspired backpack for the book to take her mind off of both the storm and Mom's rather concerning parenting methods..] Sounds like a plan to me, so which chapter do you think the gym would be mentioned in?

[Dolly pauses to glance out the bakery window once more and sure enough that is super dark...that's not a great thing at all..] I hope you'll get to shelter on land then, this is not good at all what I'm seeing right now. I think hotels tend to act like safety shelters during severe storms like this one.

Yeah, I've known she was here for years and I never knew that about her...

[The mystery deepens.] ...Maybe?

Except she's wildly insisting. Dr. Kujo's forty, but she treated him just the same when he woke up there. And I'm pretty sure he's potentially older than her. Anyway...

...Hah. No hotels here. The village is too small. My best bet is to just stay here until it's calm enough to get home.

[The befuddled look on Dolly's face is evident upon hearing the whole Mom being wildly insistent of being the mother of a forty something year old man...that is a new one] Sweet Mac Lir, you're joking, right? He's like older than she is and is insisting of being his mother?

[Maybe this was the results of years of kicking ten year olds out in the wild with a super powered domesticated creature...]

[Yep immediately changing subjects to the search for the index to not think about a rather scary Mom scenario.]

[Oh no...yeah the ship should've been evacuated rather than porting for what could be a long storm of sorts.]

I don't know if that's a good idea, I'd go and see if there's a place at the village to stay at. It looks like this storm could last a while.

[That's just. Mom apparently. Just Mom...]

Great though. In the meantime...there's no place. There wasn't even a general store here to begin with- that's part of why I offered the Gym here. Until it was built, new Trainers didn't have anything except what came in the bag, and that was year round. Even the Pokemon lab could only offer a tarp to re-use as a tent, at best.

It's...rough.

Its a hard territory to navigate in, that is a hard truth in of itself.

[Dolly has come to accept that attempting to understand 'Mom' is like trying to meet Bigfoot in person. Mom is the Bigfoot of the Pokemon World is a confirmed fact to her.]

[...Well that's a horrible situation. Dolly goes to consider the options she has to offer at this moment. Emporio was very much an older teen, time for Dolly to put on the college freshman handling mittens. The Trainer's book can wait for a moment.]

That's not an ideal situation to be in, I'll stay on the line if you'd like to keep chatting till the storm passes? Before I landed here, I used to go to college and on campus, I used to collect folklore for fun. What kind of stories does the Pokemon world have?

[Wait until Dolly learns about the Legend Seekers-]

[There is a laugh- he's not oblivious to the fact that suddenly, Dolly's more worried about him instead of herself.] ...This building was built specifically to weather storms and house employees. I made sure of it. If anything, you being where you are without a place to actually rest is...way worse.

But I can at least keep you company if it helps. The Pokemon world has a lot to offer. It'd be easier to answer category by category, really.

[Oh..that's what they said about Titanic and its ill fated sisters...] That's fair, but I'm sure something will be figured out until the storm passes. I think I have a sleeping bag here I can used for the time being until then.

I would love that though, the company is definitely needed. I think the offer to do it category by category works best for me too. You mentioned gyms before, what are they like?

[It's a sturdier place than the docked canal boat right now at least.

Not to mention, most of the buildings in the town.]

And yes- where I am now, that's my gym- most of them focus on Pokemon battles and nothing else, but mine was specifically made to help new Trainers starting their journeys. And also to teach people about how to best survive out in the wilderness! The course out back will probably be ready for a few runs of the 'rain season' run after this.

It is a plus along with getting a job for a short timespan in return.

[Mead, Dolly's Cutiefly, can be seen attempting little braids in Dolly's hair as she listens to Emporio over on the PokeGear. So that's what the gyms are for, Dolly was intrigued as she digests this information.]

Goodness, the rain season run sounds pretty interesting. I do have a question, given the season, will it turn into a snow run in November or December?

Oh, they hired you for now? Wow!

[Alright, that's rather impressive. He didn't even know they were hiring, but good for them then.]

Yeah- obviously it can only run during periods of rain, but we get enough of it that it's necessary.

You've got it right though, [Emporio adds with a grin.] Once snow falls, the course will move to the winter course. Even the caving run will change, though we'll have to make sure it's completely cleared out first.

[That was a thought that hadn't occurred to Dolly at all, maybe the Cutiefly was good luck after all?]

[Dolly goes to listening to Emporio about the gym and the runs. This was pretty fun, the idea of a track that was designed to change with the seasons was a clever idea and this got Dolly to start thinking.]

What other survival training is offered for your gym? [Someone will have to tell Dolly that hunting is a no no here...]

Pretty much. We should probably not think about how things could have gone...

[Ah! Well.]

Well, since there's obviously not a lot of stores on the trail, foraging. You can't hunt here. In fact...and I'm fully serious, but if you go into any store, you won't be able to identify the meat. It's really weird, especially after what I saw in Paldea. The food there was...definitely Pokemon, but something about this region just doesn't allow it.

Fortunately, there are some pretty solid protein sources among other things, but the little book given to everyone when they leave doesn't really tell you how to cook it. Plus, it doesn't account for if you can't cook it, if you get what I'm saying.

[The Sawsbucks and Farfetch'd are safe from Dolly, there will be no hunting from her upon hearing that news. Though, that is curious about the meat, very curious. Maybe they had a pouching problem in the past that called for such measures?]

Thank you for the heads up on the hunting, I used to do that back home with deer and duck. I wonder if the rule was placed in because of out of hand pouching? I'm hoping the mystery meat isn't a Soylent Green situation.

[She jokes about it, but deep down, Dolly really hopes it's not a Soylent Green situation with the mystery meat. Soylent Green its..POKEMON!]

That's concerning that they leave out that information on how to cook certain foraged items...

All the wildlife here are Pokemon. And Pokemon are...well, you have one with you now. More than that, you can't even pick up an object with that kind of intent here. Try it now, see what happens.

It's....a fairly simple book. They were trying to cover as many basics as possible, so I understand; it's not a bad book! Just...not really the only thing people should be relying on.

[WOAH! That definitely gives Dolly a little ol' jump right there out of surprise! Unfortunately no fur, no fluffing up out of shock..]

Okay that's committed to memory now..so every wildlife here is a Pokemon? I wonder what that implies for Human evolution here...Also fair about the book. I do plan on hitting up the library once the storms passes.

Yep, all wildlife is Pokemon. And...honestly that's a really good question, I kind of wish I could trust any books on it to actually hit the topic.

There's not even a Pokemon Center- the equivalent of a clinic for every animal here. No grocery store, no corner store...

Until I got the Gym going, there was just a few houses, and a lab- if you could call it that.

So there is...really not a lot here.

.....I have no words, I'm completely floored. I'm utterly and completely floored by the statement alone about there no necessities close by. Are they like flown in?

[ How has this place not fallen into a state of disrepair? Dolly was absolutely confused and concerned about all this.]

I can from a small town, I can understand the clinic part, most have to be flown out to a hospital. However, that no grocery store and corner store part...that's pretty alarming.

That might actually be the case? There's plenty of flying pokemon who could pull it off, and UBird does that with people at least...

[Ahhhh, well.] It...might be better not to think too deep on it. There is music playing through our heads right now after all...

[Well that was one thing of relief there, birds can fly a person or Pokemon out of town for emergency visits...what...WHAT....]

[Dolly goes to thinking deeply at the moment...okay she had to ask, there was no avoiding it.]

[Mmmmmm.] Kind of? If you turned on a radio that would do it. Depending on what you're doing it changes too, but that's not really the same so...

[Emporio sucks in a breath.] I'm really sorry you had to find out this way honestly.

Oh no, that's alright, I'm glad to learn this now rather than later. Thank you for giving me the heads up about the radio, are here any channels you'd recommend?

[ Dolly would have to do what she's done best for the past many centuries, adapt. She would just have to adapt to the musical background of this world and get use to it. Besides, Emporio gave a very good option with the radio, maybe there's radio shows here like Earth used to have during the early and middle part of the twentieth century? ]

Do they have mystery or horror radio shows too?

[He'll make his recommendations- though he does pause at the question about radio shows.]

....Yeah I think there's a few...I'll have to look up their stations again though, one minute...
