First Splash: Video/Action for Route 29

Excuse me for intruding on people but... assuming this isn't magic related or a huge hallucination... I appear to have some frog as a partner. Ugh. [said 'frog' was currently show to be eating some Pokémon food out of a backpack. Next to her an upright gray feline Pokémon called an Espurr] Anyway... I'm Madison. Potential filmmaker, magician, and holder of these two. The female frog is named Mira, and Amanda is the Espurr. I've been looking over Pokémon information as I've been traveling Route 29 all day and they appear interesting at the very least. Can anyone tell me if there's any information regarding legends of Pokémon? Um... thanks for your time.

Madison was currently trying to travel the Route but her only traveling companions were a water frog and a Psychic cat. Needless to say finding her friends if they were here was among her priorities, but so was learning about the various things and Pokémon in this place. "Accordig to this map... we should arrive in 'Cherrygrove City' within three days. Too bad we haven't much Pokémon other than some birds. Normal/Flying types I've heard they're called."

[Anders knows jack all about legendary Pokemon, but there's one thing he is sure of.

You found an Espurr! Flop, come look! [He pulls up into the shot a delighted male Meowstic decked in a navy and grey striped tabard.] She'll evolve to look like this one day.

[No, she won't. Please don't listen to him.]

[The feed shows said Espurr looking at Madison and then at the Pokémon on the other side.] That's what Espurr evolve into? Interesting, that's pretty cool. She kind of found me, to be honest.

So did good old Floppington! He approached our camp out of nowhere and decided to spend the night with me. And then life, apparently. [Anders ruffles the tuft of hair atop the Meowstic's head, and Flop gives a content purr.]

They are wonderful little companions. Forget anyone who says they look unsettling.

I think my Espurr is too timid to be unsettling anyway. She was scared at first of my Froakie Mira, but she quieted down now.

Oh, what a little darling. I'm sure they'll be good friends in no time. They're really quite loving, for enjoying battles as much as they do.

That's actually a keen observation. Most Pokémon I've seen, aren't overly malicious or even mean. Well... except for that Pikipek that wanted a free meal.

Oh, that's giving me too much credit. Only a few days around them and anyone could see it.

I've met one or two that were... grumpy, but no, not malicious. I'll tell you, it's a very nice change from wolves and giant spiders and dragons.

It isn't magic. Those are pretty normal.

[ Which is a weird thing to say, let alone hear. Especially since his feed seems to be coming from somewhere equally far out in the wilderness, the boy seated on a log with a Mareep snoozing peacefully on his lap. ]

I'm Minato. What sort of legends were you looking for?

By now, I've figured this is isn't some trick. Though it took a while to sink in.

Nice to meet you Minato. I'm Madison. And I was actually looking for a bit of everything. Local myths regarding Pokemon, some info regarding them that isn't common knowledge, that sort of thing.

It's a lot to take in. I didn't believe it at first either.

[ Even coming from a 'monsters are real and they hate you' world, just like her, having them be friendly and integrated like this was weird. He cocks his head, staring off into the distance as he thinks on that. ]

Ah...I heard some things about legendary birds around this region.

Tell me about it, most monsters back home usually try to kill me, my sister and my friends. It's weird but a nice change of pace that it isn't like that here.

What do you know about these legendary birds?

Mm. As long as you have your Pokemon, you're pretty safe anywhere.

[ It's nice, if concerning. Mareep gives a little maa, momentarily diverting Minato's attention. He scritches at Mareep's head while he starts to talk, speaking slowly as the details come to him. ]

It was something like...the tower it lived in burned down, three Pokemon dying inside. The bird, Ho-oh, revived them and turned them into legendary beasts. If you see Ho-oh, you're supposed to have an eternal happiness.

[ Which sounds, you know. Like bullshit. But he's just stating facts. Mareep is rubbing its head against his hand, baa-ing happily. ]

The other one...ah, Lugia, I think? It guards the sea, while Ho-oh guards the skies. It lived on the other tower, but flew away when Ho-oh's tower burned down.

Currently I just have Mira and Amanda: my Froakie and Espurr respectfully.

That's really tragic if it actually happened... [Yeah. Maddie isn't going to reply about the 'eternal happiness' thing. She has heard of stranger things though.]

Ah, is that what it is? They look cool. I've got an Espurr, too.

[ Currently in his ball, but still. He's on the same page about the story, at least, nodding back. ]

Mm. I haven't seen enough to confirm it either way, but I hope that helps.

[Because it's an interesting subject to have an interest in, in his opinion; it would seem she's as new as him here, yet the first thing she thinks to ask about is legends regarding these... Pokémon? Well, it wasn't like this was an unpleasant place anyway, he supposes there could be people who're like this.]

Um, yes? I figure if I'm going to be stuck here, I'll want to learn all I can.

My, giving up on ever returning from whence you came already? Or maybe you don't want to return. I suppose it's none of my business, but I found it interesting you sought stories over all else.

[There's probably some hand-wave gesture to go with this, but it being the communication that it is there's none to be seen.]

Are you a skilled magician? What kinds of movies do you like to make? Or would like to make, I suppose, if you haven't already?

First off, certainly not a magic hallucination. Magic doesn't exist here. [If the raven-haired woman speaking to Madison sounded miffed by this statement, it was because she was. Being without magic had left her both extremely limited in bed and in the sack.]

As for legends, I once heard tell of a fierce wolf-creature. He was massive, with orange and black stripes. And he only listens to the fiercest of trainers. That's people like us.

[As she spoke, Hawke shifted so that her screen didn't show the sleeping beast behind her. If she was lucky, the former Champion could convince the girl that she was some sort of badass.]

[Not that she wasn't already but... details.]

I was afraid of that. I'm guessing anyone with magic had them removed then upon arriving here?

Yeah. [Hawke's lips shifted into a distraught sort of pout.] Got 'em back a few weeks ago but... [She waved her hand, frown growing all the larger when nothing appeared.]

Nah, you're not hallucinating! This is all pretty real but it would be one awesome illusion if it wasn't real!

[She said with a giggle as her Eevee started to climb up her head]

But alas, it isn't! And now you must be forced to interaction with such cute and fluffy creatures!

Personally I don't think of frogs as cute. Though Amanda my Espurr certainly fits.

Well, you never know! If you keep on looking at the frog long enough, it'll defintely be cute, right?

Well, there's either plenty of information or not nearly enough, depending on whether you're looking for simply legends, or something with a more factual basis. There's plenty of the former, but as to the latter...

*shrugs; he and Ryner had certainly spent enough time looking with little to show for it...*

A little bit of both actually: where I come from, legends sometimes have some truth to them.

Well, as I said, legends and stories are easy enough to come across, but finding more information than that is difficult, to say the least.

There's some books available in town about legendary pokemon but they are a little... ah.

Most of them are more like story books for children.

[Not that he hadn't immensely enjoyed The Little Moltres That Could, but it wasn't exactly a bastion of knowledge.]
