Due to the abundance of ice types here Walter didn't have Assumption with him. Instead he had Chaos carefully padding beside him, glaring out into the cave; having her at his side seemed to ward off the wild Pokemon and she thoroughly enjoyed dealing with those that did approach him.

Walter nodded, using his hand to wipe off more frost to reveal...an exchange. "These are the marks there were here first. I was curious, what they would do if I added something here." It turned out, they had added more claw marks in response. Like letters sent in foreign languages, each trying to figure out what was being said.

"there's more, the deeper I've gone into the cave."

There was no reply. If she listened very carefully Manaka might hear a few Pokemon scurrying from her call, deeper into the cave. Walter began to lead the way deeper in, always taking stock of where Manaka was. He didn't want her to get lost and half frozen in here, especially when she had other friends on this trip who would no doubt be angry if something happened to her.

"Whatever is leaving those marks must have some intelligence." He spoke quietly as he always did, as if mindful of disturbing the wild Pokemon around them. Every now and then he would pause the wipe away at a rock, revealing more claw marks and markings on them.
