To whom it may concern,

This is an invitation to a casual Hanukkah celebration to be held tonight at the Skellington House in north Goldenrod. Food will be provided, though if you wish to bring some to share I'm certain that no one will object.

No RSVP necessary. Anyone who would like to is welcome to stop by*. In strange times and places it pays to be able to find common ground in what little may be familiar.

B. Action

[The mansion is hard to miss, partially because it's awfully large and partially because beneath the Christmas decorations the Halloween ones still appear to be up. Add the menorah in the window and the combined light the place gives off is probably visible from space.

As promised there is food: it's not a proper sit-down dinner, considering he figures people will keep trickling in as they have the time, but there are latkes and sufganiyot (he may have asked for Mabel's help with those) along with more Johto-appropriate foods and some things that fall squarely in-between. There are also driedels available, with markings that appear to be painted on in glitter, for people who would like to play or at the very least learn how.

It ought to be a nice night.]

[Now, see, a man who didn't know Mabel Pines would guess 'sweaters'. Ford does know Mabel Pines, and he knows not to assume. For all he knows she yarnbomed the main staircase or knit two-hundred unique snowflakes or something else equally ridiculous. He's learned to roll with it.]

Considering I'm not certain when we'll be in the same city again, I thought it prudent to give you your gift now.

[It's definitely best to roll with whatever Mabel has in mind. There are just some things that are left best unanswered and this is one of them.

Although, once she heard what Ford said, that's when her eyes widen with glee!]

Awww, you really shouldn't have! You know you didn't have to, Grunkle Ford!

Nonsense! I have years and years of gifts to make up for.

[He turns and pulls a package from beneath a nearby table. He would have kept it in his coat like he did with Dipper's but it's simply too large -- about 12 x 12 inches, it looks like.]

You're welcome to open it now if you like.

[meowbel]

[Now Mabel couldn't help but be curious. With a raised eyebrow, the girl simply just kept on staring at the package. What it could be, she wasn't sure but!]

Then don't mind if I do! Let's see here...!

[As she got a hold of the present, she'll just open it up and...!]

[It's confetti. It's a box full of glittey, shiny confetti. Most of it is the usual circles, stars and hearts, but there are also some Pokemon-shaped ones as well (mostly simple ones like jigglypuff and togepi). It's not really his thing but he knew instinctively that Mabel would enjoy it.

If she feels like digging around in there she'll also find a set of glitter gel pens. If there is one thing he and Mabel have always had in common its their artistic leanings.]

I admit I don't know exactly what use you'll have for all of that, but I'm confident you'll find something.

[meowbel]

[The moment that Mabel opened it, there was a rather loud gasp coming from her end! If he could see carefully, there might even be sparkles in her eyes right at this moment!

Once she started digging around the confetti, that's when she saw the set of glitter gel pens! With that, there's a huge smile on her face that could go on for miles!]

Oh, I'm sure I'll figure out something! You know me, I always find a way for everything!

[Just then, without any warning, that's when she decided to give her Grunkle the biggest hug she ever mustered up! It was one thing to get a present but it sure was another to get her first ever from Ford!]

You are very, very welcome.

[Whuf. Now that's enthusiasm. He pays it back by ruffling up her hair. A six-fingered ruffle is one whole finger more tousled than normal!]

[meowbel]

And guess what? I may or may not have gotten you a little something too!

[She said with a giggle. As she pointed toward a corner of the room, that's where he'll find one present that was completely wrapped up in nothing but red]

Hope you didn't think that I'll just leave you behind!

[She probably didn't do it on purpose, but the use of the words 'leave you behind' still strike a chord with him. A good one, in this case. He has a family now. He has people that think of him even when he's not around. It's still a novelty how good that feels.]

It never even crossed my mind. Would you like me to open it now or should I wait?

[meowbel]

Open it now! How can you resist when there's a present right in front of your face?! It must as well be screaming "Open me, open me!"

[Granted, she might be screaming but she was that excited! To think that this was the first present Ford will get from her! She couldn't wait!

...That and she really took her time making a giant red sweater blanket. She really can't wait to see the look on his face when he opens it!]

[Well! Clearly he has to open this present before Mabel straight-up explodes. He'd hate to responsible for that, and on Hanukkah, too! So, here he goes, opening the present --]

Oh, Mabel. It matches my sweater.

[meowbel]

I know right? It's totally perfect for you! You gotta try it on, you just gotta!

[She said now with her eyes brightening up! Can you say no to that cute little face, Ford? Can you?]

[He can't. He's faced down countless unspeakable terrors on distant worlds but he can't say no to Mabel Pines. At least, he can't say no to Mabel Pines without feeling real bad about it.

So. Here he goes. Puttin' it on.

How ridiculous does he look?]

[Ridiculous? He looks perfect! The moment he put it on, that's when the gleam in her eyes started to sparkle even more!]

Oh my gosh, you look amazing! Just look at it, it's perfect on you! I'd think you make a really good model, don't you think?

[He can practically hear the sparkletext. How does she do that?]

I ... you know, I had never considered it.
