To whom it may concern,

This is an invitation to a casual Hanukkah celebration to be held tonight at the Skellington House in north Goldenrod. Food will be provided, though if you wish to bring some to share I'm certain that no one will object.

No RSVP necessary. Anyone who would like to is welcome to stop by*. In strange times and places it pays to be able to find common ground in what little may be familiar.

B. Action

[The mansion is hard to miss, partially because it's awfully large and partially because beneath the Christmas decorations the Halloween ones still appear to be up. Add the menorah in the window and the combined light the place gives off is probably visible from space.

As promised there is food: it's not a proper sit-down dinner, considering he figures people will keep trickling in as they have the time, but there are latkes and sufganiyot (he may have asked for Mabel's help with those) along with more Johto-appropriate foods and some things that fall squarely in-between. There are also driedels available, with markings that appear to be painted on in glitter, for people who would like to play or at the very least learn how.

Of course it is! One of the greatest things about our disparate origins is that it gives us the unique opportunity to learn about worlds and customs we never would have encountered otherwise. Please, do come.

Well it certainly is the season for that.

I would guess that the first is Halloween, but that seems almost too obvious.

Ah, of course. The obvious choice. I don't know why it didn't occur to me. When is your birthday?

February 14th... You might know it as Valentine's day! They're one and the same where I'm from!

Really? Now I'd say that's lucky. Easy to remember and all that.

Actually, it's more than that. My ex-boyfriend made the holiday for me!

... I feel as though there's a story there and I'd like to hear it if you have the time and inclination.

[Which she takes as a go-ahead signal.]

Like, a long time ago, I was dating this vampire named Valentine. I thought he was really romantic, especially when he made that holiday on my birthday. But then I accidentally scared some normies - humans - and my dad made us leave. I didn't hear from him in centuries, so I guess I figured he was over me.

But when I was going to turn 1,600, he showed up at my school, Monster High! But by then I was dating Clawd, who's like, the love of my life. It turned out Valentine was a real jerk, and just wanted to break my heart so he could add it to his collection. Major creep. So he stole Cupid's arrows so he could force me to love him again, but my ghoulfriends and Clawd made sure to stop him!

[It totally was a signal to go ahead. This is fascinating, and sounds an awful lot like some of the books Mabel reads that he's skimmed and then put down after a paragraph or two. There's an entire universe that works like young adult vampire literature? Incredible.]

I... know how that is. An old acquaintance showing up to ruin things in the present, that is. It's always... awkward.

[The apocalypse was very, very awkward. Also all the torture. Awkward.]

Oooh, did you dump yours in a stench bog so he now he smells so bad no girl will fall for his tricks?

Ah... no. We erased his consciousness from existence and turned his physical form to stone, if you must know.

[And left it in the woods, which in retrospect was kind of a stupid move. He kind of wishes he could go back and smash it but, oh well. There'll be time for that later, god willing.]
