[ Some time ago, with little fanfare, Minato had made it to Goldenrod. The big city was a comforting sight, so much so that announcing his arrival had slipped his mind entirely. From there, it was easy to fall into a comfortable routine.

With no school, he found a part-time job waiting tables, snagged a room at the inn, and let the days drift quietly by. Gastly had grown into a Haunter, Hoothoot into a Noctowl. If the kid had looked weird before with a ghost and owl floating around him while he walked, having them evolve into even scarier-looking forms didn't help at all. It gets to about a month before, without anyone shoving him along, he works up the effort to actually turn the camera on himself.

Shock of shocks, he actually looks presentable in his work clothes: a white shirt and dark vest with the mandatory Pokeball pin on his lapel, dark blue hair combed back so both eyes are visible. He's seated on the window of what is obviously a streetside cafe, the bustle of Goldenrod going past behind him. ]

It's pretty easy to get comfortable in Goldenrod. I didn't realise it until today, but I've been here... [ He glances down, checking the device. ] Over a month now. It's still weird not going to school, but...all my Pokemon seem to like it.

...do you think it's all right to just stay put in a place like this?

You mean challenging the gyms? I imagine if that's what everyone was 'supposed' to do, there'd be no reason for some people who arrive to be classified as trainers while others are breeders, who have little incentive to win badges.

They're still in this world with us, though. And since everyone talks about Pokemon, it seems like that's what we're supposed to do.

Well, they are wild animals. I thought they might want to be out in the wilds more.

I don't see why not! My family and I have been staying in Goldenrod for several months now. It is a nice city.

Mm. It's the most like Iwatodai so far for me, so it seemed like the right place. Though I was curious about Olivine, too.

I've never been as far as Olivine, myself. But it might be a worthwhile adventure, someday - once it is warm enough to properly enjoy the beach.

[He's thinking of it as a vacation spot more than a continuation of the trainer's journey. Hopefully laying down roots in Goldenrod never comes back to bite him.]

Is Iwatodai your home?

It's the place I was staying before I was here, yeah.

[ 'Home' is harder to define. It's certainly not something he'd get into with a stranger, either, satisfying himself with a small shrug. ]

Maybe I'll go there once it warms up.

It's a good city. It just feels like we're supposed to be on a Pokemon journey instead of staying put.

They do seem pretty happy. None are that big yet, so they can all stay in my room.

[ He's glad to see Namine still safe and sound, too. Minato shifts on the sill, leaning back against one side. ]

Yes. My sister and I have been traveling together since I arrived.

Can't say I've noticed, but I've been traveling, since it's something I've always wanted to do.

[It's been a while since Yayoi was on the comms, and her Pichu was a grown Pikachu now, this one wearing a little ribbon in her heart-kinked tail. Yayoi herself looked dressed for the weather as she was out somewhere on the road in Johto.]

I'm not entirely certain? I was in Goldenrod for Christmas but I think I managed to get lost off the paths.

[Fiddling with her nav, she made a face.] I'm closer to Olivine right now, looks like. All these routes look the same.
