victory_road | Sixth Sacrament

[ The video comes on, showing a beautiful, vast meadow as night falls. The Sun's already set, the sky starting to darken and the stars slowly emerging from behind the daytime veil of blue. And in the field, there's a bright, white fire, seemingly growing bigger in an oddly self contained way. Walter stood off to the side, watching the fire with clear awe written on his face.

The fire grew and began to fade, revealing that in it's centre was a Marowak. The Marowak stood tall, thin with dark scales. It's eyes were pure silver, glowing in the half-dark. And on it's foreheard...the Halo of the Sun was inscribed, more complete than the simple pattern Walter had painted on his Cubone. Assumption looked over himself, before turning his gaze up to Walter.]

Assumption...

[ The name held a lot of barely contained emotion, awe, pride and joy painted on Walter's face. Assumption recognised it and grinned, running forward to embrace his trainer. Walter crouched down and picked him up, spinning him around in a circle (revealing the patterns of bones on Assumption's back) and holding him to his chest.

And he began to laugh. A rich, deep laugh that he hadn't used since coming to the Pokeworld. The video cuts out with Darkness leaving the Gear on the floor, flying over to land on Walter's shoulder and caw joyously. ]

[ Assumption raised his club with a cheer! He was on it! And immediately cuddled into his trainer with a wagging tail. Assumption nodded to Mabel, tucking Walter's head under his wing. Walter felt the heat in his face, turning into his Pokemon to hide. He mumbles from his hiding place. ]

They do make me happy. I don't...often smile though. I never had much reason to.

[The moment that Mabel saw the smile, she couldn't help but giggle a little. It was a bit odd to see that curbe from him but it seemed like a rare slight to see.

It looked nice on him]

Then there's a reason to now! I mean, there's plently of things to smile about while you're here! ...At least, that's what I think.

This place is better than where I came from. [ So much better. He lifted his head, still smiling gently and giving his Pokemon undeniably warm, fond looks. He'd never been so attached to another living thing in his previous life as he was to these creatures. ]

So much better.

Oh? Like what? Care to tell me a few things you like about this place?

[While there was a part of her that was a bit curious to hear what his life was like back home, this was a little bit more important. Especially when she just wanted Walter to feel happy.

The Pokemon. [ Assumption leaned into him, giving a little cry of reassurance. He loves you too, Walter. ]

The people are better here. They look out for each other. And...I can travel. He isn't here to stop me. I'd never seen the beach before I came to this place.

Then how do you feel about another trip to the beach? I don't know about you but I sure do kinda miss my California home right now.

[That and it'll be a good way to know Walter just a bit]

...I'd like that. [ And so would his Pokemon! They both nod, Assumption especially eagerly. ]

But I don't think there is a beach in Johto...? [ He'd seen the beach on Four Island, but he hadn't traveled far enough in Johto to see the coast. ]

Then we'll just have to plan an epic beach trip! It can be you, me and Dipper! It'll be fun!

[Nevermind that Dipper will question how Mabel knew a murder but that's for another time. Right now?]

And we'll be ready to parrrtttyyy!

Dipper? [ ...Who's Dipper? ] Is he your friend?

[ Assumption cheered and waved his bone at Mabel's cry of Partyyyyy! ]

No, he's my twin brother! I don't think he'll mind talking to you!

[....Or so she hoped]

Your twin. [ Twin. Twin brother. Twin brother and sister, lying in pieces under him, blood dripping from his hands, splayed over his coat. Valtiel whispering, hand lodged in his chest. Gather forth the White Oil, the Black Cup and the Blood of the Ten Sinners. ]

[ He had to heave in a deep breath. Assumption felt his mood change and looked up at him, clearly worried. ] Maybe...maybe I shouldn't.

[Granted, Mabel's idea of trying to help Walter wasn't always the best thing. She just wanted him to confront the issue because how else would he get better?

Sure, a part of her was a bit worried about inviting a murder to killed a pair of twins into a party but still!]

You sure? I think it could help you out just a little. [...will it though?]

Does he know? About me? [ About what he's done? Assumption turns and is gently hugging him now, trying to help calm him. Darkness places a wing over his head, as if to tuck him under it like he does his children. Which does help. ]

[ . . . . . . . . . ]

No but that's for later! Once he gets to see what kind of awesome person you are, I'm sure he'll see things in a different way!

[ Mabel, he's the serial killer here and even he knows this is a bad idea. ]

This isn't a good idea. [ But Assumption whined and gave him a Look. His trainer needed more friends, even if he had been bad in the past. Walter sighed heavily. ]

...But, if we were to meet. It would be best to do so where there are lots of other people.

Then how about Goldenrod? I mean, I'm going to be stuck here for a while anyway so why not come and visit me when you have the time! I'm sure you'll love it here anyway!

...I can't return to Goldenrod. I was there but. I can't go back.

[Does she want an answer to that?]

...A man named Henry Townshend lives there. Either he will kill me, or I will kill him to complete the 21 Sacraments back home. It's our fates.

He's furious that I am in this world. I don't intend to hurt him here but he is still angry. When I left, he told me to never return to Goldenrod. But I did. And he attacked me.

I didn't intend to fight back but my Pokemon protected me. [ Assumption noticeably lowered his gaze, holding onto his club tightly ]

I don't intend to ever return there again.

[Mabel really didn't know how to respond back. She just didn't know what was going on back in his world and she wasn't sure if she should get involved.

A part of her really wanted to but at the same time, when murder was mixed in the middle? It was probably best to stay away despite her best intentions. So instead?]

Then I'll just go to where you are! That'll make it easier for everyone, right? And it means I get to hang out with you whenever I want anyway! So it's the best of both worlds!

[/trying to be optimistic]

[ He's honestly stunned by how determined Mabel is to spend time with him. This is actually unpecedented. Before nobody had even wanted to talk with him and now Mabel was outright refusing to not see him. ]

...I'll let you know where I go, when I return to Johto.

Please do, I know I can't wait to start hanging out with you! And I know I already got a bucket load of plans that we can do!

[Even though a part of her was screaming out how she shouldn't. But if he really has changed, then she's wouldn't mind giving him a second chance.
