8th Recipe [Video, Goldenrod City]

[There's no setup, no artful pan of anything to begin this video with, just Jane pulling her hand back as she turns her 'gear on. It's propped up on a table with various papers scattered around - the exact contents aren't clear, but the general idea of notes and sketches are visible enough.]

I have a quick question for you all this evening. What sort of Normal type Pokemon are you all familiar with? I've...just been wondering lately if you could really call Whitney's gym Normal type gym if most of her team is apparently dual-typed, or...turned out to be the Fairy type! Ah...well, anyway, what's your experiences with plain old Normal types? Are there some you'd favor over others? I'd like to hear about them.

Sounds like you've already got folks explainin' that it ain't really Whitney's fault, ha! Poor lass. I wonder if I'd have ta change my strategy much for when I first went up against her if I did a second go at it?

Anyway, I think the best normal type ya could ever ask for are Furrets~.

Well, I don't blame her for it at all - it's not like it's something she can help.

[A pause.] I do remember you've got a Furret of your own, yes? I've...heard that there's sometimes a chance of them being less than agreeable.

Well, I’ve never had that problem with any of mine! Excitable darlin’s- I can show ya if ya like. And, anyway, ain’t that true for any Pokemon breed? Ya never know what you’ll get until ya do.

Golly, I suppose. Though, while most of mine aren't always agreeable, they're still amiable. And you know...I would like to see one, yes! If you don't mind.

Alright then~. Rogue, c’mere!

[Almost immediately, there’s the sound of chittering, and then the enormous furry noodle in question is wound up around Joker’s torso and his empty shoulder, peering curiously into the camera.]

- Oh! My goodness, what a friendly little fellow! [Jane beams and waves.] Hello there!

[Rogue gives a delighted chitter, pressing closer as Joker chuckles.]

He’s been with me for years now- one of the first Pokemon I caught, actually.

So his species is likely found on the routes closer to New Bark, then?

[Taking note of this...]

That’s right! But this is his final evolution- he started off as a Sentret first. Not nearly as long and slim.

Oh, I remember those! We battled a few to get stronger, way back then.

[Jane it was like half a year ago it's not that long a time]

I suppose we'll make a stop out that way in the future to find one willing to join the team.

Shouldn’t be too hard. They were all throughout the grass, back when I was still there. With that many, ya have ta find one that’s friendly enough. Ha- maybe you’ll find one of Rogue’s old family.

[The Furret chitters in excitement again.]

Perhaps I might! You never know, with these things. Golly, Pokemon must have quite extensive family trees that we just don't know about.

Yeah, some must, but I imagine there’s a good bunch of ‘em that are happy with the families they make when they decide ta battle it out with our Pokemon, huh? I mean, that’s how it is over here.

That makes sense! We as trainers end up with quite the motley crew, but somehow or another, the crew all comes to care about each other no matter how often they interact. It's really quite sweet.

It’s family. Simple as that.

[A nod, and a smile.] Simple as that. I...quite like having helped shape my own little family.

That’s the good thing about this place. Even if it doesn’t last long… At least yer gettin’ a taste of how it feels ta just be at ease and have a little freedom. Some folks especially don’t get that.

Yeah...[A soft breath.] The freedom is something I seemed to be lacking a lot in my life, but the ease...it's nice to have that back. At the very least, it's reassuring.

Mm, that's right - at least in normal circumstances.

Heh, true. I guess we’re in a bit of a unique position, huh?

Oh, very unique. Even moreso than anything I've encountered back home, and that's saying quite a lot!

Oh, no, I don't mind at all! But I'm going to have to ask you to clarify - do you want to hear about my actual home in the United States, or my planet in Sburb?
