[ The immediate scene on the screen is a very frozen Walter sitting on his bed, clearly trying to breathe very slowly, as a Flareon sits on him and is watching him very happily, wagging it's flame-like tail. It leans even closer and Walter tenses, hands curled up at his side. He doesn't relax even as the Flareon presses it's face against his chest, looking up at him with pitch black eyes.

On the floor is the remains of an egg and on the table is a Fire Stone.

Eileen chirps to him, signaling that the gear is on. She goes over and doesn't get the Flareon off him, simply smiling and checking the Flareon and clearly squeeing a little. Her first egg hatching! Walter swallows, clearly still locked up with nerves. He needs Help. Which is why Eileen was supposed to have called Manka... ]

Manaka. This isn't a Ponyta.

Huh...then...did the Eevee egg get there on accident?

[Breeding is still so weird to him, even if Frisk and his Dad are supposed to be breeders. How even does this work...]

Jennifer's a nice name. I...I bet you'll feel a little better with her around if she learns not to get so close so quick.

...Manaka has a Sylveon. [ The Sylveon. It would explain how there was an Eevee egg (or two, given Manaka had one as well). While Chiffon was roughly the same size as Jennifer, it generally stayed close to Manaka. Evidently this one had picked up on that trait. ]

[ As if to confirm this, Jennifer rested her face against his side, slowly wagging her tail yp at him. He couldn't help leaning away. ]

Please stop.

[Asriel squeaks when he sees it, brows knitting in concern.] H-Hey, Jennifer? You...you should probably give Mister Walter his space, okay? He's...you really surprised him!

[ Jennifer pouted but at least she did stop leaning on him. She didn't budge from sitting right beside him however. He really has no idea how to handle a Pokemon like this. Walter has had clingy Pokemon; Assumption when they had first been partnered together. Reed, with his demands for approval or praise. But he hadn't dealt with a newborn Pokemon, nor it being a Pokemon he was outright afraid of. ]

Jennifer. Sit here. [ He pointed to the bed. Eagerly she hopped up, tail still wagging like a flicking flame. ] ...I don't know how to get used to this.

[Asriel sighs softly.] Me neither. I...I wish I knew what to tell you. With any Pokemon I'm scared of, I just avoid 'em, but they're not mine to start with.

[ Walter looked at Jennifer very seriously, very carefully. He cleared his throat. ]

I have to try. [ He couldn't just...give her back to Manaka or set her into the wild. For one thing, she was a gift. Manaka had given her to him. For another, she had chosen the Fire Stone. It was significant to him that she had chosen to become a fire-type. ]

[...He may not understand the reasoning but Asriel understands the choice, in his own way. It'd be cruel to release what's essentially a toddler into the wild.]
