Video/Action for Near Azalea (Yesterday)

[That's a very wobbly and snowy view that pops on the network. Like the 'gear is angled down at the ground. And being held by someone who can't quite lift it up properly. A duet of concerned 'pikas' can easily be heard. There's a flash or orange-ish red and the 'gear slowly tips up. Hey, that looks like right outside Azalea! How pretty, in the snow...]

[Wait a minute. Despite the heavy snowfall and freezing temps, that sure is Korra, in a long sleeve shirt and sweatpants but nothing else to protect against the cold...trying to beat the hell out of her Graveler?!? The Graveler appears to be doing his best imitation of a punching bag with hands, letting Korra come at him again and again, only blocking or taking the strikes. Korra...does not look happy. Or sound happy, as each punch and kick is accompanied by a low scream of raw emotion. It's hard to tell if she's angry or sad, it could be either. Or both. Either way, she's making a lot of noise and a spectacle of herself.]

[Three concerned Poke-faces fill the 'gear screen, chittering worriedly, asking for help with their Trainer. It's Korra's two Pikachu and...a Vulpix?]

[Since when does Korra have a Vulpix...?]

Ur...you alright, Miss? I got told we ain't meant to be hitting our pokemon. I mean he looks like a rock but your other 'mons are a bit worried about ya. [ Ash asks, concerned. He'd marvel at the Pikachu and Vulpix but it's pretty obvious their trainer is pissed off about something and they want someone to talk to her. Although he was still in Violet to try and take on the Gym and didn't know where Korra was. On his shoulder is his lovely Vivillon, who is fluttering her wings in shared concern. ]

We're sparring! Normal thing to do, we do it all the damn time.

[Why, Pikas? Why? Korra's been through this before, she doesn't need a bunch of strangers seeing her dealing with it.]

Right, right. [ He holds his hands up - there's no need to snap at him. ] Like I said your other Pokemon seemed worried, that's all.

They're just upset. About something else. We're all upset. And this was personal, and not supposed to be broadcast.

[Sorry, kind stranger, Korra's got little in her but snapping and arguing at the moment.]

Oh, I get it. [ He pauses, chewing on his lip. ]

Maybe if you're all feeling pretty downbeat about the same thing, you should talk to them about it? I get if punching shit helps but I mean. They're right there, ya know? And they were only trying to help and all that. Anyway, sorry for disturbing ya. Hope you feel better soon.

[ The Vivillon, fusses when he goes to turn off his gear but he shakes his head to her. ] Étain, she don't wanna talk to some stranger when she's got shit to work out. [ He's not going to try and make small talk with someone who wasn't up for it. Not that he blamed her if she was feeling shitty and it got broadcast, even if her Pokemon had the best intentions. ]

Yeah, it's not that easy? Look, I get you're trying to help. But you don't know me, or my Pokemon, or what's going on. And not every Pokemon understands complex human stuff or...what happens when people leave...

[ Ash frowned. He doesn't get the complete picture but, it sounded like she was missing someone. Or that someone had left her. He gave her a sympathetic look. ]

Yeah. But sometimes just talking to them helps. I've been missing certain things about home since I got here and I know it's not the same deal, but, it's just nice to talk it out loud. Even if they don't get it. Cos to them, it's just that you're chitchatting to them and they appreciate that. At least, most of mine seem to.

Like I said, I'm sorry that they put it out there. But they know something's up. Even if they don't know what and won't get it. That's gotta count for something, right? At least they're there for ya.

[ He ruffled his hair - a tick from his Dad when he was trying to think of what to say. Étain shifted to his shoulder. ] But you're right. I don't know shit about what's going on. Maybe spur it out with your rock-dude and give the little ones a pet or a hug after?

Do you think I haven't? They know what's wrong, they're upset about the same thing I am! But I can't make them understand why it happened. I don't even know why it happened! And I've been here a really long time!

Hell, I built my own house here. I know you're trying to help, but I really don't need advice about how to take care of my Pokemon.

[Korra doesn't sound angry, just tired and frustrated. Somehow, this time is worse than the times before. She doesn't mean to take it out on anyone else, but she can't help herself.]

[ Ash ccouldn't help looking and feeling a bit like a kicked puppy. His shoulders visibly sagged as he dropped his eyes fromt he camera. ]

Yeah ok. Feel better. [ He closed off the comm and rested his cheek on his knuckles. Well, he'd cocked that up. ]

Hey! What the hell did that thing do to you??

[This is coming at a bad time considering he had just been talking to someone else about hurting and hunting Pokemon recently.

Consider the brat prince angry.]

You're freaking your other Pokemon out!

[Ugh, who turned her 'gear on? Korra tries to ignore the voices coming out of it, she's really not in a mood to talk, but they keep coming... and Whumper gently takes her fists and eases them down, giving her a Look. Come on, people are worried. Korra sighs and her shoulders slump.]

We're sparring. And those two freak out over everything.

[Korra doesn't bother to pick up her 'gear. Just sort of grumbles in its direction.]

[Okay...he's willing to at least give her the benefit of the doubt since her Graveler seems to actually be okay..]

It definitely didn't look like sparring from this end. [He's still going to be snappy though.] Maybe you should consider not doing it in front of them, then.

I don't care what it looked like, I'm not putting on a show for anybody. This isn't why those three are upset.

Hey, maybe don't try and give advice to a stranger who's had a private thing broadcasted to the whole world!

Sorry for being concerned when suddenly there's a video broadcasting of someone beating the crap out of their Pokemon and three others freaking out.

[It comes out harshly and he'll feel bad later but right now? Not so much.]

How the hell were we suppose to know it was suppose to be private since it's on a public channel? Everything's a little stacked against you in terms of how it all came off, no offense.

Whumper's a 300 pound giant rock, how could I beat him up?

Maybe because I didn't broadcast it? Look, the Pikas get nervous about everything and Ka...the Vulpix, she's just...

She doesn't understand where her Trainer went and I don't know how to tell her that she's just gone!

Considering we're all from different worlds, how the hell am I suppose to know that you can't actually hurt it?

[Noctis wants to continue snapping at her but what she says about the trainer that's just gone makes him go quiet.

There's nothing to thank me for. Telling someone you're sorry for their loss is generic but I really..I wish I had something better to say.

[Oh.... oh. Elsa's not sure if she's ever seen Korra this upset, this angry before. It makes her uneasy, not because she's seeing one of her closest friends so differently now, but she's wondering just what happened to make her act like this.

But Elsa, as much as she wants to help her friends, also knows when not to just outright pry. So she'll wait until a pause in Korra's attacks, and then she'll cautiously speak up.]

... Korra? What happened?

[There's no way in hell she'll ask "is everything okay?" because wow, anyone can tell that everything's not okay.]

[For Elsa, Korra stops her sparring with Whumper. She rakes her hair back and flops down crosslegged in the snow, looking more tired than anything.]

She's gone again.

[She knows Elsa will know exactly what she's talking about.]

[She's...

...Oh.]

Oh, Korra... I'm so sorry.

[Normally, she'd hate saying that. Because it doesn't offer any sort of comfort. But Elsa knows. Even with how certain things have been changing for her lately, her feelings for Asami haven't just gone away, and knowing she disappeared again hurts. And her chest hurts for Korra as well, because Elsa knows the pain of a loved one being sent home quite well.]

[Uuugh. The snow was supposed to be over. It's March, isn't it? So why is it snowing like crazy out here? And why does her big, boisterous Granbull insist on rolling around in the white stuff every time it falls? She's having a little trouble keeping up with Buru this time as the big pinkish dog romps around, having a grand old time belly-flopping into the beginnings of snowdrifts...but stops short a few yards away from the Graveler and its trainer, watching the strange back-and-forth with a cocked head.

And then Thida trips right into her own Pokemon.]

Augh!

[That was definitely loud enough to be heard by any people or Pokemon nearby.]

[What the hell was that?]

[Korra pauses in her sparring match, looking in the direction the sound had come from.]

...hello?

[Was that Pokemon or person?]

[At first glance it just looks like a Granbull, now looking behind herself, but soon enough she pulls her short trainer out from behind her, snow clumped in her blue twintails. Thida blinks owlishly when she notices just what Buru had stopped to see.]

...Hi.

....Hi.

[Korra eyes...oh, she forgets her name. She's seen her on the Network though, and talked a couple of times.]

Are...you okay?

[Yeah, she recognizes this person in return. They talked about something like...snow, right? Makes this meeting a little funny, actually.]

...Guess so. [She sniffs, rubs her nose. It still smarts from faceplanting into her own Pokemon.] You okay? Fightnin' th'rock guy...

Oh, no. [Korra shakes her head and gestures to the stony Pokemon.] Whumper's mine, we're just sparring.

[Even if he wasn't really sparring back today. But it's serving the same purpose, Korra's venting all of her frustrating and anger and miserable feelings into her strikes.]

What are you doing out here?

[Oh, well, if that's all. Thida gives her nose one last rub - eugh, did snow get in there? So cold - and points to her Granbull.]

Walkin' Buru. She likes snow.

[As to exemplify this, the Granbull comes a little closer to Korra...them promptly flops over on her back, rolling around a bit. Hello human, do you provide belly rubs?]

I guess she does.

[Korra watches the Granbull and manages a weak and tired chuckle.]

Hey, Buru.

[The belly rubs are very half hearted, but not even Korra can resist the wriggling Pokemon.]

You don't look like you like it much, though.

[They are very appreciated. Buru reaches up with her paws, pats Korra's hand. Thank you, human!]

Mm...[Thida pulls her scarf up a bit.] Bad memories. In snow.

Oh...I'm sorry.

[Korra straightens up, dusting off her hands.]

I grew up in the tundra, so...this is like home, for me. Kind of.

[It was colder in the South Pole, and there was a lot more snow. But still. There's something both painful and comforting about the cold and the expanses of white.]

Do you wanna go somewhere warm?

S'okey. Winter's got snow. Gotta deal.

[Being inside too much would have driven her crazy anyway.]

'M fine. Warm'll come soon.

[Oh, hey there... this looks familiar. Not because Jean has seen it himself, but because he's done something very similar. At least the rock Pokemon is responding and letting her hit him, instead of staying encased in a crystal, silent and motionless and forever beyond their reach...]

Hi, Korra.

[Jean's voice is conversational; no point in drawing attention to the obvious emotion in the scene right way.]

You're really good at sparring. Whoever taught you knew their stuff.

[Korra takes a break from sparring, raking back her hair and plopping down in the snow to take her 'gear from her 'mons.]

Thanks. I started when I was really little, I've trained my whole life.

I can tell. You're a million times better than anyone I know.

[They only worked on this stuff for a few years, after all, not a lifetime.]

I'd ask if you could show me some moves, but I'm on the Sevii islands right now. Maybe another time?

Thanks. It's...a pretty good way to work out stress.

Yeah, that's pretty out of my way. I kept planning trips, but...

No, I get it. We stayed in Goldenrod for a long time. Had all these plans for going to the islands, but it took us a couple of months to get our shit together and actually head up here.

It's great, though. Really warm and peaceful.

[Korra snorts a little.]

Yeah, that does sound nice. Someday I'll see this world.

Or everybody I ever make any plans with will just keep disappearing and I'll never leave Azalea.

Oh.

[Aaaand that's exactly what Jean thought was going on. You experience that grief once yourself, and you can recognize it in other people.]

Who went home?

Somebody important. She wasn't here long.

That sucks. I'm really sorry.

[How devastated would Jean be if Marco showed up and then disappeared? Very.]

Is she okay back home?

Yeah, she's fine. Everything's okay back home. But we just...this isn't the first time she's gone home.

Oh, damn.

[That's somehow even worse, if everything is peaceful and happy in both places but they can't be together in either of them. Jean doesn't really have anything to add beyond another soft expression of sympathy.]
