[Well, there's one more badge down. Time to move on again. And stop waiting around, once more.]
Shiro here.
I'm finally on my way to Goldenrod. So... anyone I promised I'd stop in and see, I'll let you know when I get there.
But I don't think I'll be sticking around like I planned, after all.
[Because after repeated attempts to contact the person he'd thought would be most excited about this development didn't go through... well. It just sort of feels hollow.]
Sorry for the change.
I'll see you soon, Goldenrod.
Shiro here.

There's another really good one too, but, uh... How long are you going to be staying? When I was there I had to wait a couple days to get it, but it was worth it.
text;
About as long as it takes to get the next badge. So there'll probably be time.
Text;
[Armin might be misreading it, but somehow Shiro's text comes across as somewhat dejected.]
Text;
I was supposed to meet someone there for a while.
They aren't answering their 'gear. So... guess those plans are cancelled. Might as well just keep going.
Text;
[Armin knows what that means. He doesn't know exactly who it is that has left --many people seem to slip away quiet as can be; Terezi had gone in a similar fashion-- but they clearly were a friend of Shiro's.]
I'm sorry, Shiro.
[And that is... all he can say, can't he? At the very least, he can't offer Shiro comforting words like 'I'm sure they will be back soon'. None of them can be sure of that and he figures living with an empty hope would only be more painful in the end. He's always tried handling Jean's hope that Marco might come here in a similar fashion: confirm that it is indeed possible, but while trying not to fan his hopes too much.
He also doesn't just want to leave it on that awkward note though, so:]
Have you... thought about where you will be going after Goldenrod yet?
[It is important to keep focusing on the road ahead, right?]
Text;
[It's not fine. It smacks so hard of the others he's lost. Of the faces he'd promised to save, or always thought he'd see again. The times he'd had to see them go.]
[And every time, he's blamed himself.]
[This time, it's no different. He should have been faster. Should have worked harder. Should have, should have...]
Whichever city comes next. I get the feeling Kuro's not ready to stop earning badges.
[It's a goal, if nothing else.]
Text;
[That is what everybody says, but Armin hasn't noticed it so much himself. The titans still terrify him no matter how often he meets them. He might be able to manage that fear better, but it hasn't disappeared. Watching people die... no, that hasn't gotten easier either.]
Did you arrive in Goldenrod via the north or the south?

If you're coming to Goldenrod, then you need to stop by Honeyed Soul. It's a bakery I work at, and one of the best in the region, in my opinion.
[She hasn't been to half the region yet.]

Yeah I think I'd like that. I'll head that way when I get into town.
no subject
maybe I can even get you a discount.
[Maaaaybe, depends on if her boss is cool with it.]
I, uh
hope that everything's okay.
[Because she's not blind.]

We've got decent funds. Don't worry.
[He appreciates the offer, though.]
It's all right.
Or it will be.

I don't know what happened, but I can listen if you want to talk about it?
[It sounds like it's not okay to her...!]

How long do you think you will stay in town?
text
Not sure -- probably only as long as it takes to get the badge.
text
you know where to reach me.
Could I tempt you into letting me take you for lunch, at least?
text
Thank you. I appreciate the reminder.
And yeah. I don't see why not.

Everything okay, spaceman?
[SHE'S GOT NO HORSE IN THIS RACE but usually sudden changes in plans don't mean anything good.]
[Text]
Just getting the badge and moving on, I think.
It's
I'm fine. It's fine. Things have changed is all.
[... okay but part of Friendship is apparently Not Talking About Your Problems so:]
Did you make it out of that party all right?
[SEE??]
[Text]
But uh, I know we've talked about like... loss and shit before
If you NEED a shoulder...
[Text]
[It's really, really tempting to just leave it there. Just change the subject and keep the focus off himself.]
[But she's right. They have talked about it before.]
Hey if you're in Goldenrod, maybe we'll get a chance.

Aku also wants to see Haunter in person--er, Pokeson?--too!
[text]
Haunter wants to meet up too, it says. Writes. Same thing.
[text]
Oh, geez, has anybody told you about Whitney yet? Haunter wouldn't be able to battle against her Normal types, so our two ghosts can have their little playdates while you battle her.
She just has this little quirk that needs to be discussed.
[text]
Yeah, Armin filled me in. I'm working with Kuro and the others more instead.
... the... crying thing?
